My implementation is simple. I have a public static variable in a class called EmailHelper containing my regular expression as follows:
[Code]....
I then have the following web controls on my page:
[Code]....
The problem is that doesn't matter what regular expression I define as the value of my static public variable bound to the <asp:RegularExpressionValidator />, I always get an error (i.e. it aways says "invalid email")...
how do I grab an email address from a web form and email to that email address with the link to a webform?

i do have a form. inside specific asp:textboxes are "secured" by RequiredFieldValidator and RegularExpressionValidator running. in another div-element i do have buttons, which are expected to load different pages of my website. the problem is: when i click on either of these buttons it is not working as my validation-controls are fired prior to the onclick-button-events.

View 1 RepliesIn addition to the process of regex syntax validation of Email Addresses entered by users, I'm trying to check if the entered email address is a real one and does exist?The best I could achieve is to "Ping" the host the email address is associated with. But there are some other terms in the industry like Handshaking with Email Server, etc.not necessarily with 100% confirmation accurary!

so what did i do wrong with the regex that its now allowing other document types to be uploaded. I need to make sure that ONLY pdf are allowed. What can i change to the validator and if anything add to the code behind to correct this?
I have a 'City' TextBox on one of my web pages but people from many European countries sometimes prefix the city name with the postcode instead of putting it in my dedicated 'Postcode/ZIP' TextBox. I have therefore just added a new RegularExpressionValidator to this TextBox. Its purpose is to prevent the user from entering any numeric characters but allow everything else. After browsing for a suitable regex (I am not a regex expert), I found the following code that was claimed to do what I want.
ValidationExpression="^D$"
Unfortunately, the RegularExpressionValidator does not work as expected. Instead of just rejecting numeric characters it appears to reject everything! Where might I be going wrong?
I am trying to use a RegularExpressionValidator for email ID text box. Everything works fine till I add an AJAX TextBoxWatermarkExtender for the same text box. I have given the WatermarkText="Email" for the text box. When I push the submit button, the RegularExpressionValidator fires and says Invalid Email ID. When I clear the same text box, no issues and the records are saved.I strongly suspect that the RegularExpressionValidator is taking the text of the watermark, ie "Email" as an invalid email ID. To test this I gave the text as "someone@website.com" for the TextBoxWatermarkExtender and it did not fire the RegularExpressionValidator.

I'm developing a website in ASP.NET & C# that will be on the www I have a contact form like most internet websites have and one of those textboxes is an email address. I wish to validate the email address so that the person enters a valid email in the form of [URL] What is the best way to do this?
View 4 RepliesWe are developing an Intranet application that looks up some data for a user through hooks into Active Directory. However, our Network guys don't always enter in a users email address when creating a new user. Therefore, our user database is missing the email address for over half of our users. We have over 10,000 users, therefore asking them to enter 5000+ email addresses into each missing email address field in Active Directory isn't an option. I already know how to validate that an email address is correctly formatted using Regex. What I need is a way to lookup the email address entered in the email address textbox and see if it exists on Outlook/Exchange (or looking up the email address using the First Name/LastName would work). If it does exist then the address is valid, if it is invalid then the user typed in the wrong address. I've tried to do something with CDO, but have had no luck. We use Outlook 2003 and ASP.NET 2.0.

View 1 RepliesIs it possible to include a static email address within a textbox text property...For instance
<Asp:Textbox id="myTxtBox" runat="Server" Text="Contact me <a href="mailto:test@test.com">here</a> </asp:TextBox>
The above line tells me that the element <a> cannot be nested within textbox.
