Getting the following error when browsing .net 2.0 application System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
I have setup a .net 2.0 application with oracle backend on windows server 2008 R2. I have oracle client 11g installed on the server for the application to talk to the oracle database. This worked well when the .net 2.0 application was hosted on windows server 2003 and oracle client 10g. But when it is hosted on server 2008 with new oracle client it is giving the above error when browsing the page. This error occurs when the connection is opened inside the c# code.

Then I have another List to represent The Organizations Information. ( it use some TextBox inside of a List to represent All of the Organizations Information)As Client Report work with One Dataset. I provide four DataTable for my different Report Sections. Each DataTable Has an ID for GroupingThe Common DataTable ID use to group the entire of the list for another Object (Here University)How Can I implement Such a report, While I can't use Different DataTable for grouping because If I do such a Thing I can Display only the First Field of the groups

We are working on a web application and the target deployment includes Windows 2003 64-bit. When we run the application on the 64-bit OS, it gives the following error:
The entry 'asp:System.Web.UI:System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' has already been added
The web.config file includes the following:
<pages validateRequest="false" enableEventValidation="false" viewStateEncryptionMode="Never" theme="esl_theme">
<controls>
<add tagPrefix="asp" namespace="System.Web.UI" assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"/>
</controls>
</pages>
And if we remove the line <add tagPrefix="asp" namespace="System.Web.UI" assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"/>, it seems to work.
Can somebody understand the problem and take corrective action? The application does not compile on 32-bit OS without this.

i want to design a stock financial report system and fortunately i hooked in the database design part. The report is made up of different sector and under the sectors thier are companies. All sectors have some unique entry fields which makes it different from the other. for example banking sector is different from insurance sector because there are entries that differ. My problem is how to create a non-redundant database that features all the sectors and companies. the idea i thought is to make a table for every sector and i found out that with these idea i wil have some relational issues for example in each sector i will have company id as primary so in establsiing relation i will hav constraint.
how to design a non-redundant databse with respect to these subject.

I'm wondering what the best practice is in reporting back to the browser about application or model state errors that would be displayed to the user. Can you throw an exception and handle it in the error handler of the jquery post? For example, consider this method:
[HandlerErrorWithAjaxFilter, HttpPost]
public ActionResult RetrievePassword(string email)
{
User user = _userRepository.GetByEmail(email);
if (user == null)
throw new ClientException("The email you entered does not exist in our system. Please enter the email address you used to sign up.");
string randomString = SecurityHelper.GenerateRandomString();
user.Password = SecurityHelper.GetMD5Bytes(randomString);
_userRepository.Save();
EmailHelper.SendPasswordByEmail(randomString);
if (Request.IsAjaxRequest())
return Json(new JsonAuth { Success = true, Message = "Your password was reset successfully. We've emailed you your new password.", ReturnUrl = "/Home/" });
else
return View();
}
Is it correct to throw an exception in this case when the user is null? Or should I instead do this and handle it in the success handler of the jquery post: return Json(new JsonAuth { Success = false, Message = "The email you entered does not exist in our system. Please enter the email address you used to sign up.", ReturnUrl = "/Home/" });

We've deployed some reports from a server machine which can be accessed without any problems if you are logged onto the server itself by going to the URL of http://servername/ReportServer. However if we try and access the reports from a client machine (even if we use the same administrator Windows account) we get the Windows security window appear asking for a Username and Password to be entered in order to connect to the server. We've tried entering this but we then just get a blank screen after being re prompted a few times to enter the details.
Now I'm not sure whether this will be a Reporting Services or a Windows issue. Could it be a setting within IIS? It can't really be a user thing as the same user works on the server but not on the Client machine so it's more of a machine problem. It's as if there are some authentication settings somewhere that need to be set.
We are using SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.

I was working on an attendance system on ASP.Net where the entire week's dates are calculated by my program based on the current date. I am using DateTime.Today. I was apprehensive to use this as I feel that users can modify this date by merely changing their system clock and mark previous week's attendance.Can DateTime.Today be changed by changing system clock on client side? If yes, is there something else I can use instead of that?

Im newbie in asp .net, and maybe for asp this task can be solved different way... but...
i have winform application with method to generate excel report, now i want to transfer this to asp .net.
User click button and on the server side start method (generate excel report to temp file), then ready temp file transfer to client side. That's how i imagine this process in asp .net. There's no problem to transfer file from server side to client. Problem in process of generation excel report. Excisting code doesn't work, because excel application must be started and visible and how can i do this on server side?
Maybe this is absolutely wrong way and such things doing different way?

In asp.net website, i am using crystal report. My question is very generic i.e. How it is possible to display client side (browser) date and time?
Actually in my case our website is going to hosted at India, while that site is used by user's at SWEDEN.
Now the problem is that when user request for report then it is displaying server side date time because i have used PRINTTIME control of crystal report. But user should have date and time of their PC. because that time is basically a report generates date time.

I am storing files in SQL using FileStream from a ASP .NET app. I am also storing the filetypes.
I want to allow users to download (and open these files) to view them. I see a lot of code samples on how I can read data out of FileStream, and put it into a buffer in memory. I guess from there, I can write it out to a file.
But since the data is already in a file (SQL "Select myFileStreamColumn.FilePath()" returns it's location) can't I somehow put up a Save As... dialog for the user, and let them download it directly from the SQL storage area to their local PC?
Do I have to read the data out of SQL, write it out to a file, and then give them a Save As... dialog pointing to that new file?

Given a file path on client machine, is it possible for me to get the content of the file from that
location and show that content in browser using any client scripting language.when i explored on this , i got following information.1.Client scripting languuages are not allowed to have access to client system as it is a hugesecurity threat.2. We can use ActiveXObject (FileSystemObject) to have access to client system, but it haslimitations like it only works in IE & client also need to change IE settings to make sure that thisactive x componet runs in his browser.Does any one have any alternative solutions with Jquery/Ajax or any client scripting language(that is cross browser compatible and works for all file types.)
