Web Forms :: How To Data Holding Validation / Highlight
May 7, 2010
I using VS2005 asp.net 2.0 (VB.net).
I have a question. I have a Parent page (parent.aspx) In Parent page it will call a Pop Up page(pop.aspx) then choose the data from Popup's gridview pass back the data to parent page gridview.
I need an idea how to check/highlight the data which is already selected when user open the Popup again.
I have a bunch of textfields on my aspx page, many of them have a few validators on them, such as required field, and 2 compare values (for a min and max). All is well with those, all the errors I have posting to a validation summary control that gets fired on a button press. I have it put the "*" in red next to the field with the issue as well, however I'm wondering if there is a way I can change the css class of the textfield through code behind when there happens to be an error present on that control.I know how to change the css class of an element through codebehind(c#) but my question is how do I get it to fire only if an error is thrown for it.
I hope somebody can guide me to overcome below challenge.
My form has three dropdownlist controls and one listview. Everything works fine if I don't try to pass multiple querystrings to get different URL on the same page. But challenge comes when I try to pass multiple querystrings to show different URL's for SEO.
Following are the ID's:
1. DropDownList1= Country
2. DropDownList2= State
3. DropDownList3= City
4. Listview1= Resturants (I am not including Code .....yet)
With my code DropDownList1 holds the state and passes the value to URL OK .When I try to select different value in DropDownList2 or DropDownList3 are able to pass the vaule to URL but in the form they stay on the first item and doesn't change and so does Listview1.
I have developed a web application in Asp.net with C#. My requirement is to add an extra property to textboxes in all forms. The property should be "SID". I don't want add an exterban control i want to add extra property with the available textbox.
I need to do edit funtionality for registration forms (5 in number) in a trading system. Requirment is to do it in a way that user edit details in a form and click next or previous button and data will be saved somewhere until user reach last form and click save button. On this click all changes will be updated to database table. where I should hold this temporary data ? I cant use database tables for this. There come many options in mind like cach, session and application variables. But I am confuse which way will best performance wise. There are 5 forms and every form has 15 to 25 fields in it. I dont know expected no of users but hoping a good count.
I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator. Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?
I have an ASP.net gridview on a webform where user's can select a row. When they select it, the row is highlighted yellow. The problem is that when I sort the table, it sorts properly but the highlight stays on the same line. The data all moves, but the highlight stays put.
I have a 32 bit number in my DB/ DAL layer that is used to represent some yes/no facilities about hotels. so I for example bit might mean "has swimming pool", bit 2 might mean "reception desk" etc etc.Currently I have some code in the BLL that says if (number and 2) = 2 then .ispool = true - this is repeated for any many boolean hotel referances I have. What happens then is in the UI have then say something like if .ispool = true then display swimming pool icon.
Then it occurs to me that I am testing the value twice 1) To test the bin to bool in the BLL and create the structure 2) to test the structure to dislay the icon.
If I move the if (number and 2) = 2 to the UI I get the same result with one less if.Is there some better way or code do deal with this, maybe loop through the structure or something like that or an asp way that is more suitable to deal with binary representation of boolean's.
When my user clicks on the "select" button on a row in a gridview, is there any way for me to 'highlight' the data that is displayed in the selected row? Can I change the color of the text in just the selected row? Or change the background color for the selected row?
I have a button within a repeater that i want to highlight that row if the button from that row is pushed. It works but I was wondering if there was a way to keep that row highlighted after you leave the page and then come back, or does that have to be done with the database somehow?
I have an a-z menu in an asp.net repeater. I'd like to highlight the currently selected link. I tried the following code in the itemdatabound but it does not work.
[Code]....
The reason is because the urls are not rendered at this point so they look like: ~/folder- ame/page.aspx?az=B.
I build a serach function just using SelectCommand and SelectParameters, i.e.
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource2" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:mprojectConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [publication] WHERE ((([character] LIKE '%' + @character + '%') AND ([type] = @type)) OR(([f11623] LIKE '%' + @f11623 + '%') AND ([type] = @type)) OR (([f1character] LIKE '%' + @f1character + '%') AND ([type] = @type)) OR(([nortonoxfordnumber] LIKE '%' + @nortonoxfordnumber + '%') AND ([type] = @type)) OR (([nortonoxfordtext] LIKE '%' + @nortonoxfordtext + '%') AND ([type] = @type)))"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="character" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="f11623" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="f1character" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="nortonoxfordnumber" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="nortonoxfordtext" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="DropDownList1" Name="type" PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="String" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource>
I am also using a dropdown box and a textbox for people to search within a particular area from the dropdown list.
Now, I would like to be able to highlight the keywords in my gridview table. I searched around on the Internet and found a lot of samples, but they are all related to the Gridview <templates>, however, I am using <BoundField> and sqlDataSource.
I just cound not figure out how can I add this highlight function to my current search function?
This works fine, but I would now also like to select the data in the textbox so the user does not have to select the text before typing, they can just type straight away. I have been trying to use:
The user will enter values in the textbox of the gridview in item template. A button outside the grid, when it is pressed we have to highlight the duplicate values.
