AJAX :: Setting Left / Top Position Not Working In IE

May 21, 2010

In a custom ASP.NET AJAX control, i have this to do some repositioning.

[Code]....

getBounds simply returns the x/y and width/height. I use this to set the left/top, but in IE, it's doubling; say the coordinates are 500, 20; when it sets this on the element, its actually setting to 1000, 40. In firefox, this works correctly.

this.get_element() returns the correct element and all, but it's not setting correctly, even though event logging says it's the correct coordinates. When using setLocation too, it doesn't work in either...

What else in my code may be affecting it? JQuery isn't an option here too.

<br />
<asp:Label ID="Label3" runat="server" Text="Old Password:"></asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBoxoldpass" runat="server"
TextMode="Password"></asp:TextBox>
<br />
<asp:Label ID="Label4" runat="server" Text="New Password:"></asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBoxnewpass" runat="server"
MaxLength="20" TextMode="Password"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="RegularExpressionValidator1" runat="server" ErrorMessage="Password short"
ControlToValidate="TextBoxnewpass" ValidationExpression="^.{7,21}$"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator>
<br />
<asp:Label ID="Label5" runat="server" Text="Retype Password:"></asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBoxretypepass" runat="server"
MaxLength="20" TextMode="Password"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="RegularExpressionValidator3" runat="server" ErrorMessage="Password short"
ControlToValidate="TextBoxretypepass" ValidationExpression="^.{7,21}$"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator>
<br />
<asp:CompareValidator ID="CompareValidator1"
Runat="server" Text="Passwords do not match!"
ControlToValidate="TextBoxnewpass"
ControlToCompare="TextBoxretypepass"></asp:CompareValidator>
<br />
<asp:Button ID="ButtonPassSubmit" runat="server" Text="Submit"
OnClientClick="return confirm('Try to change password?');"/>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:TabPanel>
<asp:TabPanel ID="TabPanel2" runat="server" HeaderText="TabPanel2">
<HeaderTemplate>Send us email</HeaderTemplate>
</asp:TabPanel>
</asp:TabContainer>
</div>

Edit, when tested absolute positioning the textbox got bigger(!!!) and in mozilla it was on the wrong side.

Forms Data Controls :: How To Push Down Outer ListView From Nested ListView Control

Mar 13, 2011

I have anested ListView control. I also implemented a jQuery to automatically expand the TextBox control inside of the nested ListView Insert Template. The problem is, when the Textbox expand, the outer ListView control is not; therefore, the Textbox control expands underneath the buttons of the outer listView control. How do I expand the outer ListView control as the nested ListView textbox is automatically expand? One great example is in Facebook where if I add a response comment, it'll automatically push any comments below mine down. If nested Listview control is not the best way to do this, what are my options?

Web Forms :: Scroll Position With Multiview Control?

Jan 5, 2011

I have a multiview control on a page with multiple child view controls. As the ActiveViewIndex is changed when I nagivate between views, I'd like to reposition the scroll position of the browser. For instance, when toggling between a very long page with a huge gridview (page 1) and a smaller page that follows (page 2), I'd like my scroll position to start back at the top of the page when I navigate to the smaller page. Currently, if I scroll down on Page 1 and select an item that navigates me forward to page 2, the scroll position is maintained and I start too far down the page when Page 2 displays. I have programatically set MaintainScrollPosition to false on Page_Load so this should not be a factor.

lbl.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Black;
lbl.Font.Size = 10;
lbl.Font.Bold = false;
lbl.Font.Name = "Arial";
Page.Controls.Add(lbl);

Update: I really need to avoid using anything that can be altered via editing a file running on the server which is why I'm trying to do this at runtime.

Fixing Button Position Within A Web Control?

Apr 26, 2010

I have a master page in which I have a webcontrol that generates a series of image buttons. I have discovered that if I use IE 7 and i drag the width of the screen smaller, the buttons all stay lined up across the page as expected. But if I try the same action in IE8 or Firefox or Chrome, the image buttons essentially start piling up on top of each other the less wide the screen gets.

Is there any way to keep that from happening? Maybe put a fixed width table around the buttons in the webcontrol?
