Web Forms :: How To Redirect To Folder(file) Using Role Manager
Dec 28, 2010
I use ASP.NET RoleMembership. I have 3 Roles :
1. "Admin"
2. "Manager"
3. "User"
By default, all new users are in "User" role.
I have 3 folders:
1. auth - "Admin", "User"
2. manager - "Admin", "Manager"
3. Administration - "Admin"
If "Manager" tries to access "auth" folder, it is redirecting to login.aspx page. But because the "Manager" is authenticated already, how to redirect him to "manager" folder instead of Login.aspx page ?

i don't know how to use a Encrypted ConnectionString with RoleManager in ASP.NET This is code in Web.config.
<connectionStrings>
<add name="strConnectionString" connectionString="eF8w9r2UJOsk0Ps3pxmV7/Fy/xPR2hN2S7BrC1iOYNnAUaI8AqkSm5bw7r+ta4sePWSV9t/3Spnpz6wsFpvMmcppNpqM5Zk7iiDqWVgIV4k="/>
</connectionStrings>
<roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="CustomizedRoleProvider">
[Code] ....
And in project I create a library to read web config
private const string ConnectionStringKey = "strConnectionString";
private readonly string SQLConnectionString =
Security.DecryptString(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[ConnectionStringKey].ConnectionString);
if I change my ConnectionString like this, it's working:
<add name="strConnectionString" connectionString="server=My-PCMSSQL2008; database=MyDB; uid=sa; pwd=passw0rd;"/>
But I want my ConnectionString Encrypted so i use
<add name="strConnectionString" connectionString="eF8w9r2UJOsk0Ps3pxmV7/Fy/xPR2hN2S7BrC1iOYNnAUaI8AqkSm5bw7r+ta4sePWSV9t/3Spnpz6wsFpvMmcppNpqM5Zk7iiDqWVgIV4k="/>
So when i running website it throw error:
System.ArgumentException:Keyword not supported: 'eF8w9r2UJOsk0Ps3pxmV7/Fy/xPR2hN2S7BrC1iOYNnAUaI8AqkSm5bw7r+ta4sePWSV9t/3Spnpz6wsFpvMmcppNpqM5Zk7iiDqWVgIV4k='.
Line 46: string[] roleNames;
Line 47: roleNames = Roles.GetAllRoles();

Got the ProviderException : The Role Manager feature has not been enabled.
So far so good.
Is there somewhere a method that can be called to check if the Role Manager has been enabled or not?

There are some folders in my application that are only accessible by users in certain roles.In order to protect the contents of these folders, I placed web.config files in them which look like so:
[Code...]
Also,in the main web.config file, I have this configured:
[Code...]
However,when I try to access a folder that I'm not authorized to access, I'm not being redirected to unauthorized.aspx page as indicated in the main web.config. Instead,I'm getting sent to the login page.Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Here's the authentication section from the main web.config:
[Code...]

Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role?
The table to manage roles would basically be like this:
Role User
---- ----
admin DOMAINUserName [delete]
DOMAINUserName2 [delete]
[add user text box]
news DOMAINUserName3 [delete]
[add user text box]

I am building an ASP.NET 3.5 Web Application and I am NOT using the membership provider for security. In the application I have a role named Admin and all the files for this role are inside the Security folder in the project. Currently for all the pages inside the security folder I am checking to see if the logged in user's role is an Admin or not. This to me seems very redundant, can do something like "If the user is requesting a page inside the security folder then check his role".

I want to know how can i redirect a user to a different page when he tries to access a page restricted to another role?
The scenario is as follows:
I have a folder "Gestao" that only allows users in role "Administrator"
[Code]....
If an anonymous user tries to access that folder he is redirected to the login page, but if a logged in user whose role is "friend" tries to access this folder he is also redirected to the login page. I want to redirect him to a page showing a message that he has no permission to access that page/area.
How can I do that? Should i have code on the Page_load event of the login page checking the user role and then redirect him to the correct page? Or is there some otherway to do this?

i currently working on a webform. My current codes are below:
[Code]....
1. first of all i would just like to have 1 XML file that will contain both the builder and manager email address. I tried the following code but it does not work. Basically i set the databinding source for both the dropdownlist to the same source with different datafield value(for builder) and name(for manager).
[Code]....
2. So i want it to set so that when users select "Others" as an option, they are allowed to enter new email address manually. And i want them to update this XML file so that the next time they access this form they would be able to see the previous email entry that they provided.3. How do i get the 2 panels side by side at the bottom? For example i would like them to see the Label next to the Textbox.4. Last question, how do i create a text in the label so that i can see the Version when they press update in the form. For example if the major version is 6, user enters 6 and press the update button and the "Major Version" would display something like "Major Version = 6"?

I'm not sure if this is possible or not, I'm using Roles to limit what pages a user can access based on there assigned Role. My question, is there anyway to redirect the user to a specific web page based on thier role after they login.
For example:
If Bob logs in with Role="Automotive", I want him to be redirected to Auto.aspx.If sue logs in with Role="Clothing", i want her to be redirected to cloths.aspx.

I have a dll which is in the bin folder (version 1.0.6125.0 ) and in GAC version of the dll is 3.5.0.0. Both the assemblies are strongly named microsoft dll's .
Now I want the dotnet CLR to search in the GAC instead of in local bin folder.. I know the solution to the problem would be to delete the dll from the bin directory and automatically application will search for dll in GAC, but in my case, I cannot delete the .dll file in bin directory, since we do not have control over the PRODUCTION servers.
I get the following error
The type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager' is ambiguous: it could come from assembly C:inetpubwwwrootAppNAMEinMyDll.DLL or from assembly 'C:WINNTassemblyGAC_MSILMyDLL3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35MyDll.DLL'. Please specify the assembly explicitly in the type name.

I'm using urlrewriting.net to redirect a cascading stylesheet image request. I've been trying without luck to do so. Here's the rewrite I added:
<add name="reportImagesRedirect"
virtualUrl="^~/estadisticas/(.*).png"
rewriteUrlParameter="ExcludeFromClientQueryString"[code]...
I'd like to know if there's something wrong with it. I'm trying to link all the http get requests made to one folder to be redirected to the images folder. So for instance when I make a request like this
http://localhost:8080/estadisticas/spines.png
I want the web server to look the image in
http://localhost:8080/images/spines.png

How can I setup the code in default.aspx to automatically direct the user to the default page for the application. If the user types the server name as in http://MyIntranet, I want them to be redirected to [URL]
[Code]....
IIS threw back the error that the operation requires IIS integrated pipline mode, which obviously isn't available because we're running IIS6.
