How to run asp.net application with encrypted web.config ,is it possible note that ASP.NET application have a database with encrypted connectionstring and a "cannot read connection string " message is generated

I am developing an application in which I can connect to the ASPNETDB.MDF if it is on my machine, however, when I want to put it on another machine and try to remote connect it, I get the error:
An error occurred while attempting to initialize a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection object. The value that was provided for the connection string may be wrong, or it may contain an invalid syntax. Parameter name: connectionString and my connection string is as follows:
I have Membership configured with IIS7, tables for it located in my own database, created with aspnet_regsql utility, and I am using custom connection string to access it.
This is part of web.config related to Membership :
If "Manager" tries to access "auth" folder, it is redirecting to login.aspx page. But because the "Manager" is authenticated already, how to redirect him to "manager" folder instead of Login.aspx page ?
i have created a encrypted string to match with a target string to pass it along with client URL for authentication. it doesn't match. here is an algorithm used to create a encrypted string.
In asp.net mvc project I am using MYSQlMemberShipProvider. Now I want that instead of reading the connection string from web.config file, it will read the connection string from external file every time. So that I am implementing the cutsom mebership provider class, this class inherits the MemberShipProvider class. But the problem is that if I inherits the MemberShipProvider class then I have to impelment all of its method in my cutsom membership provider class, But I want to use all other inbuilt methods of MemeberShip. What can i do. I only want to add the code like below:
public class CustomSqlMembershipProvider :MembershipProvider { public override void Initialize(string name, NameValueCollection configs) { base.Initialize(name, configs); Connectionstring objProducts = // redaing the connection string. } }
But on compiltaion it is giving me the error does not implement inherit abstract member.
Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role?
The table to manage roles would basically be like this:
Role User ---- ---- admin DOMAINUserName [delete] DOMAINUserName2 [delete] [add user text box] news DOMAINUserName3 [delete] [add user text box]
I have tried using .NET's various encryption functions but all my encrypted strings are at least 24, 28 or 32 in length.
I have heard of CipherMode.CTS with Padding = None that produces the same length output as the input length but I can't seem to get the same result. I have toyed with the block-size, key-size and salt size.
I don't mind adding a digit to my input string to make it 16 in length.
I have a db connection string 'ApplicationServices' defined in the connectionString section of web.config and 3 Entity Framework connection strings which have the provider connection string attribute with the same connection string as the one in 'ApplicationServices'. Is there a way to reference connectionString in 'ApplicationServices' for the provider connection string attribute of the EF connection string in the web.config, rather than providing the connection string all over again?
So if i encrypt connectionstrings and sections, how will i get their values inside my code?I don't want to decrypt the web.config, i just want to read the encrypted values. There must be a class.Maybe something from ConfigurationManager?I don't suppose it's automatically decrypted?
just for my testing purpose i know i can define both the connection's outside in a single web config file by different name's and access them in my front end according to it but what if i want to have seprate for both connection's web.config situation is like this see image so i want to access my connections from second web config file how i can do that.
I am sysadmin user on a database server for SQL Server 2005.
I need to change the connection string that use 'sa' to another account. But I don't know how to change the data manager connection for the package 'XYZ'.
I am new to .net, and I am having a problem that, I am having a couple of web pages which are accessed be two types of roles manager and users, my requirement is that any one with user rights should have only read only rights for a particular update.aspx page how can I do this
I encrypt and decrypt a string with a private key and following functions. so I encrypt a string with Encrypt function and decrypt the encrypted string with decrypt function. If someone can change the encrypted string and then it decrypts with decrypt function, the decrypted string isn't equal to plain text before encrypting. I want to know how can I check is decrypted string equals to plain text before encrypting?
I am preparing for an Access2007 db conversion at the beginning of the year and would like to know what the best process would be for connecting to the sqlserver2005 database. I have read about adding the connection string to the web.config file. I have also read about using ADO.NET and put the connection information into a class and not the web.config file.
I would like to hear from others as to what you have used, are using, or plan on using for a webapp (vs2010), and why so I can get an understanding.
