Web Forms :: How To Relate A Shared Class To My Web User Controls
Jan 21, 2011
I would like to know how to relate my shared class to my web User controls?? For example say I add a new class my project to run a game. How do I get infomation I need from my web controls to be used in my class.Say my user select easy for the difficult mode on a radio control. I want the class to be able to see that the user control has been set to easy or have the class modify values for my web controls
I have 2 deopdown lists , for example the first one contain : Israel , USA , CANADA. i would the second one to contain , cityes of those countries , for exampe if some user choose USA, the second drop downlist become
I've created a nice menu class and used it in my MasterPage like "using My.GeneralRoutines".This class is working well and everything is fine UNTIL I want to access this same instance of that class that was created at MasterPage level on "a_page.aspx.cs" (this page is using the MasterPage like :)
I have a public shared function and I'm trying to access the values of a text box and a session variable.
I'm getting the error "Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or shared member initializer without an explicit instance of the class."
Is there any way I can get to the values in the textboxes or session variables from within the method?
In page behind classes I am using a private and shared object (list<client> or just client) to temporary hold data coming from database or class library. This object is used temporarily to catch data and than to return, pass to some function or binding acontrol. 1st: Can this approach harm any way ? I couldnt analyse it but a thought was using such shared variables may replace data in it ?2nd: Please comment also on using such variables in BLL (to hold data coming from database) where new object of BLL class will be made everytime.

I have build a UserControl with separate code behind file.In that code behind file i have defined some public properties in the Partial class of user control that was automatically generated.Those properties will initialize some properties of controls that are used in the control.Now, in .aspx page i used this User Control and initialized the public properties through code behind of aspx page for dynamic contents.
I'm building an application where custom modules may be developed and "dropped in" to the system, where they can be picked up and utilized.
I'm building a forum module and have a user control to create a login/registration region. I plan on using a struct to store the user session data. However, i need this class structure to be shared between the forum module and the login/registration control.
Because the functionality is to be contained in the module's folder, i cant add any assemblies to the app_code folder.
How can i share a class or struct among two user controls?
I used a AsyncFileUpload control from AJAX Control Toolkits. After I got the async file upload part working, I needed to filter the file type so users can only upload image files. I found the following code off web and it worked well:
function uploadStarted(sender, args) { var filename = args.get_fileName(); var filext = filename.substring(filename.lastIndexOf(".") + 1); if (filext == "jpg" || filext == "jpeg" || filext == "gif" || filext == "bmp") [code]...
I am having one doubt regarding the use of static variable in Asp.net pages.I am having one page say UserDetails.aspx.In this page, I have one static variable to store some data specific to a user. So, will this ?
public partial class UserDetails { static int numberOfReviews=0;
I have develop an ASP.NET website and I want store some uploaded files in a shared location in some different server. On that server one user has the access.
how it is possible to get the access of the shared location on the server with my Web site?

[Code]....
The problem is : I don't understand this javascript. What is the type of args parameter? Where are the methods such as "get_fileName()", "set_cancel()" defined? I went to the homepage of the AsyncFileUpload control but couldn't find any documentation regarding the "args".
I have a shared module in an asp.net web app which gets various information about a group or user. Since the Iuser account on the web does not have enough rights to query the AD, I need to supply an appropriate userid and passcode for the directoryentry in the shared code. Since my credentials so the have the appropriate rights to query the AD I like to impersonate myself(user.identity). This works fine for a webpage, but I can't pass the user.identity object to shared code. I get an error. Is there a way to pass the user.identity object to a shared function in another module?
I have a class (SearchClass) in which i have Origin property which is a "Address" datatype. I want to use the "Search" class in my Search.aspx. I want to bind the City field data to a CheckBoxList, but i could not do so? If it is a straight property of Search class i could do so, but if it is a property then i could not. "I am getting error "City" is not a valid DataTextField of something like that. The point is it is not recongnised. I even tried to inherit the Address class from Search.cs class, but i just see blank data. Now i am trying to a different thing. i.e. Inherit the Address in Search.cs class and while pouplating the Search Results in to a List object i am also planning to set the data of City too, along with populating the whole Address objects and try to use it in my binding. Is there any other way to do this (i mean more efficiently)?
I want to search my asp.net pages and user controls to see which master page and base class they use. I mention search because we are re-factoring a large project and we need to track progress on the code conversion. I know I can pull this information individually but I need a automated and repeatable procedure.
Do we have to do something special to have ASP.NET partial classes aware of controls that are declared in our user control's base classes? The partial classes keep generating declarations for controls in the base class which mean the controls in the base class get hidden and are null.
