View 1 RepliesWhen a server error occurs for whatever reasons (YSOD), the server will send a message via SMTP class. In my case, my company employs microsoft exchange and uses NTLM authentication for all domain users. I am authenticating users via NTLA windows integrated authentication. My question is, is it possible to utilize this authentication data, and pass it to the system.web SMTP username/password authentication scheme to send an email to me (the web developer) when the error occurs? I am pretty sure my company requires a username/pwd to send emails via SMPT on the ms exchange server.

View 4 RepliesFor a certain project I need to be able to send the contents of a webpage to people who enter their e-mail address somewhere. For this I've scoured the internet and came upon a couple of possible sollutions. The first would be to use a scraper which would just look up the webpage and then mail the html contents to someone. The problem with this is that internet html (and more importantly css) and mail html might be completely different things when you look at outlook. This also takes the entire masterpage with it, while I pretty much just want the inner content.
Second sollution was completely rebuilding the pages in my mail function, based on a few given parameters. Seeing as there's many different types of pages that need to be sent, this would take ages to do...
Last sollution I came upon was manually calling rendercontrol. This actually seemed like a viable way of doing this, but of course, things go wrong. The structure of the website is as follows: Masterpage includes default.aspx, default.aspx has a placeholder which gets filled with a control I manually load (loadcontrol(path)) based on what page I need. This control is the one I need. My way of trying to render this control to send through mail is the following: first, I create a page, then I'll load the user control and finally I use UC.RenderControl(writer)
This does give me the basic html lay-out, but it seems that the Page_Load isn't being called, causing none of my variables to actually be filled in. Is there any way I can cause the control to be rendered just as if it were rendered inside a page's lifecycle?
I have been trying to fix this issue for several hours now, and I was hoping to find out if someone can shed some more light on it. I get the above error on ONLY ONE virtual root in my IIS 5.1 installation. I have other web sites I am developing in .NET 2.0 and 3.5 and they seem to work fine. This is a development workstation with only 1 user, and I get this error continuallyevery time I access only 1 of my web sites - even after rebooting the machine. It makes no difference what order I access the web sites in - this one always fails and the other ones always succeed.

I have installed the SMTP server on my local machine. The folders in mail root have all the permissions. My mails stay in the Queue folder for sometime and then they go to the Badmail folder. I am receiving the following error: Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered: "This message is a delivery status notification that cannot be delivered.". The specific error code was 0xC00402C7. The message sender was <>. The message was intended for the following recipients.
First I found that you can catch it and log it inside a catch, but this doesn't send an email.
Then I found out about using the Error Signal class. That worked, however what wasn't apparent from reading, is that it treats the error like normal, so when I signal the error it goes to the custom error page still, I don't want that to happen. What I want to do is catch that error, log it, send the email, but stay on the page the error happened so I can provide special feedback. I do not want it go to the custom error page.

As the title states, how can i stop two users from booking the same appointment time.
Example, two users logging, on there screen they can both see that a 1pm appointment is available. They both try to book themselves into that appointment time.
How can i stop this from happening and ensure only one user can book it, then refresh the screen to show the next available booking time to the other user.
I'm having a wicked time trying to redirect the different error scenarios to a custom error page. Basically, I have put some code in Application_Error in global.asax, and done the necessary web.config settings to use Custom Errors.
In global.asax on Application_Error, I stored the Server.GetLastError in Session. The reason I have to store it in Session is because (as far as I know) you lose the exception when using "ResponseRedirect". And the reason I have to use ResponseRedirect is because I am using an UpdatePanel with AJAX calls, and any exception during the AJAX call shows up as a JavaScript error, and doesn't get handled using the custom error page (see this post).

So my times i tried adding images to it but whenever i add images in the newsletter e-mail, the users who are using different mailboxes, either my mail goes in their SPAM folder or if my mail goes in their INBOX then image doesn't show up, it shows a blank space
what's the issue ? what's causing the issue ? code ? or Exchange server on which my website mailbox is for sending e-mail ?

Problem is I am not receiving the welcome email.
To test it, I placed another create user wizard on another page in its default form

This one worked and I got welcome email. The setup in Web Config is correct. Is it because I have the oncreateduser="CreateUserWizard1_CreatedUser" or some other conflict issue.
I have my code here, it works fine from my home, where my user is administrator, and I am connected to internet via a cable network.
But, problem is when I try this code from my work place, it does not work. Shows error:
"unable to connect to the remote server"
From a different machine in the same network:
"A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network 209.xxx.xx.52:25"
I checked with our network admin, and he assured me that all the mail ports are open [25,110, and other ports for gmail].
Then, I logged in with administrative privilege, there was a little improvement, it did not show any error, but the actual email was never received.
note that, the code was tested from development environment, visual studio 2005 and 2008.
