Website Email Goes In Spam Or Image Doesn't Show Up In People Mailboxes?

Mar 31, 2010

I send newsletter to all the members of my website, usually i just create simple newsletter with text and hyperlinks

So my times i tried adding images to it but whenever i add images in the newsletter e-mail, the users who are using different mailboxes, either my mail goes in their SPAM folder or if my mail goes in their INBOX then image doesn't show up, it shows a blank space

what's the issue ? what's causing the issue ? code ? or Exchange server on which my website mailbox is for sending e-mail ?

How to solve this issue ?

Almost everyday we recieve newsletters from many websites/companies (there newsletter includes images, colors full templates etc) and still we receive in our inbox and all the images are visible. how ?

.net - Gmail Is Filtering Web App's Email As Spam?

Jan 30, 2011

We have a business web application that periodically sends emails as reminders, links to client data, etc. Our company uses Google Apps for our email provider (with our own domain name), and the web application sends email through Google with SMTP.

The problem is that Google Apps / Gmail keeps marking the messages as spam, even for the inboxes in our domain name. No other email provider seems to mark it as spam (but of course we haven't tested them all...).

We've tried various formulations of the body test: i.e. including more contextual information, addressing the recipient by name, but so far with no apparent changes. This makes me thing it may be something about our email sending process, rather than the content of the email, that's causing the emails to be marked as spam.

Things that we tried but that didn't solve the problem:

"From" address is valid and not spoofed SPF records are correct, and show as "pass" in the email header Since we are connecting to Google's SMTP server to send email, it's not an issue with a blacklisted IP address (however, our website has a static IP address that is not blacklisted). Email is not very spammy: I've checked against several online spam filter tests, and the email body always shows up as extremely unlikely to be filtered. HTML body vs plain-text body seems to make no difference. We send a small volume of email: probably 0-10 emails per day, so I don't see how that would make this suspicious. Whenever we have access to the receiving inbox (i.e. it belongs to an employee of our company), we've been marking the emails as "not spam", since Gmail may be using communal statistics to determine spam. After a couple times this results in emails to that particular inbox getting through, but doesn't seem to help other accounts.

What else can we try?

If it makes a difference, we're sending emails using an ASP.NET site running .NET 3.5. A typical email gets sent like this:

var message = new MailMessage(new MailAddress(from), new MailAddress(to)) {
Subject = subject,
Body = body
IsBodyHtml = true
};
// SMTP details stored in web.config
new SmtpClient { EnableSsl = true }.SendAsync(message, null);

EDIT: I've seen this similar question: How to stop Gmail from marking mails sent by my web app as spam?, but the situation is a little different since we can reproduce it by sending and receiving from the same Google Apps domain. Besides, I believe I have covered all of the proposed solutions for that question.

Web Forms :: Dynamic Image Control Doesn't Show Image?

Jun 1, 2010

I'm no expert with Image controls, or dynamically adding anything, but I seem to have some problem when dynamically adding image controls

When the page loads the images are "there", but they don't actually show an image...just an image "box" I guess you could call it. It's not the "broken" image or "invalid" image display, but a friendlier one that doesn't make sense to me why it's there.

I look at the page's source and literally everything's fine, but I'm not sure what's going wrong. I can show you my code, and hopefully someone will point out the dumb thing I'm doing wrong:

[Code]....

[Code]....

So, it takes all the .JPG files in the folder "Pictures" of my project's folder and creates an Image control to be put into Panel1 with the ImageURL as its filename (with Directory Path) and even set the ID to its filename (so no duplicate IDs). Again, the source is exactly how it should be, but no image is shown.

VS 2010 - Email With Link Gets Caught As Spam

Jun 22, 2012

I'm sending emails inviting contacts to login to setup an account on a customers website. I'm using SMTP from web methods in code behind... These emails have clickable links that make them get caught as spam.

Code:
<html><body>Please use this link <a href="http://xxx.yyy.zz.aa/asdfasdf.aspx?invite=' + CAST(@guid as varchar(100)) + '">Click Here</a> to create an account.</body></html>

How can I avoid this?

C# - System.net.mail Email Are Landing In Spam / Junk?

Mar 10, 2011

I am sending Email from SMTP server and all my Emails are landed in Junk in Hotmail ,Live and Yahoo. I am not using any Spam like content and following all the guildline to send Emails.

I check on mail to identify the Issues and found quite a few issues below

1) HELO Greeting Check

Description: Email Server HELO is . HELO greeting does not contain a valid domain. We would recommend to have a valid domain in HELO greeting. Ideally HELO greeting should be the same as Email server host name (in FQDN format).

2) BATV (Bounce Address Tag Validation) Check

Description: Email server is not using BATV format while sending out emails. BATV is recommended to ensure that your users do not become a victim of bounce floods.

3) DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) Check

Description: Email does not contain any DKIM/Domain Keys Signature and the published Domain Keys policy rejects such unsigned emails. Therefore it is very likely that your emails are considered SPAM by Email servers verifying Domain keys. Signing your Outbound emails as per your Domain Keys policy will minimize chances of your Email being considered as SPAM.

VS2005 MasterPage Doesn't Always Show An Image?

Nov 3, 2010

I have an ASP.NET application that uses a MasterPage. In the MasterPage I have an image. This displays well on the development environment and on the default page that inherits it. But now I have set the website to prompt for a login using Form Authentication. The Login page also inherits MasterPage but it can't seem to find the image. Both aspx files (default and login) are in the same directory as the MasterPage. There is only one image placed in the Images folder. Has anyone seen this before?

Fake Image Using .aspx Url To Track Email Views In Outlook, Doesn't Work

Apr 15, 2010

I have this in my HTML email to track if someone views the email in say Outlook.

<img src="http://www.example.com/track.ashx?user=3434" />

but this doesn't seem to work.Should I change my headers in the .ashx to server image headers? Can this work using this method?

I emailed myself with an email, other images displayed properly. There was no log in the database for the handler (the handler logs all requests to the db). Calling the URL to the file in the browser logs to the db, so its working.

Web Forms :: Rendering Usercontrols - Send The Contents Of A Webpage To People Who Enter Their Email Address Somewhere

Feb 2, 2011

For a certain project I need to be able to send the contents of a webpage to people who enter their e-mail address somewhere. For this I've scoured the internet and came upon a couple of possible sollutions. The first would be to use a scraper which would just look up the webpage and then mail the html contents to someone. The problem with this is that internet html (and more importantly css) and mail html might be completely different things when you look at outlook. This also takes the entire masterpage with it, while I pretty much just want the inner content.

Second sollution was completely rebuilding the pages in my mail function, based on a few given parameters. Seeing as there's many different types of pages that need to be sent, this would take ages to do...

Last sollution I came upon was manually calling rendercontrol. This actually seemed like a viable way of doing this, but of course, things go wrong. The structure of the website is as follows: Masterpage includes default.aspx, default.aspx has a placeholder which gets filled with a control I manually load (loadcontrol(path)) based on what page I need. This control is the one I need. My way of trying to render this control to send through mail is the following: first, I create a page, then I'll load the user control and finally I use UC.RenderControl(writer)

This does give me the basic html lay-out, but it seems that the Page_Load isn't being called, causing none of my variables to actually be filled in. Is there any way I can cause the control to be rendered just as if it were rendered inside a page's lifecycle?

Security :: Prompt Network People But Not Outside People?

Sep 23, 2010

My question is, when guest accesses that page, I don't care about their credentials, but when admin accesses that page, I want them to log in first. And the Admin users are the ones that work in our company with the same domain and such. Anyone that access outside would be "guest".. how can I prompt people in the same network when they try to access that page? I need that AD credentials to do some programming in code behind.

I am triyng to generate a report that analyzes what people are searching for on my website.I've managed to generate a report on exactly what people are searching for (full phrase), and another report that lists the appearance count of each word.The final report I need to create involves analyzing the occurances of two words.I have an SearchLog object, which I can load into a List<SearchLog>, each record containing information on a search performed on my website. The SearchLog object obviously contains a property for the search phrase, amoung other properties.Lets say there are 2 search logs I pull from my database:

2. Garbage Bag Liners

My query would need to return the following:

Bag Liners: 2

Web Forms :: "Follow Up" Email From Asp Page / Outlook Doesn't Show Any Alert As The "reply By" Time Approaches?

Jun 23, 2010

I have a requirement in my asp.net web application, to send emails that are marked as "Follow up" with the "Reply By" property set. I was able to set both these parameters as explained in the article below:

http://www.asp101.com/tips/index.asp?id=142

And the Outlook is showing the email as "Flagged" with the reply by time as set in the code. But the problem is that the outlook doesn't show any alert as the "reply by" time approaches.

This alert appears properly when any "Flagged" email is sent from microsoft outlook, so I am not sure why the emails sent from the web application dont' show the alert?
