Sep 19, 2010I am building my first ASP.NET MVC site and this site needs to be in 2 languages.
When a user selects a language from the menu, the site would present itself in that language.
The content likely will be loaded all from resource files. Can I respond to a change in the culture definition at runtime so it load the correct resource file?
I want different URLs for both languages. Perhaps something like mysite.com/en/home/index.
Is this possible? The users should be able to forward and save links and that the site will be loaded in their language.
How can this be done with ASP.NET MVC?
MVC Switching Cultures After Compile For Initial Load
Nov 3, 2010I have a hybrid ASP.Net web forms/MVC app. On one of the MVC "pages"/views, I have it render a bunch of dates using the ToShortDateString() and ToLongDateString(). These work correctly most of the time, but the first time I load the view after compiling the app, they are formatted incorrectly.
I traced this down and checked the current thread's culture. For 99% of the time it's en-US, but on the first load of the MVC view after compiling it is set to en-GB. If I reload the page immediately after that, it's back to en-US.
I have tried setting the culture and uiculture in the web.config file to en-US to force it to be correct, but no luck.

Apr 6, 2010im creating site with usercontrols. I have repeater, inside it is another repeater with usercontrol. My problem is passing BindedValue to usercontrol.Bindings works fine and binds the value i need but it cannot pass the value to usercontrol. When i type it manually it works, when i bind it, it passes null (!).I've tried get,set, functions (ondatabound, onload, oninit), accessing control from code with no luck. Ive read and tried to do all the google solutions but with no luck. (even with creating usercontrol inheritance)

I know that this can be possible with properties in both UC's and by registering UC2 in UC1 or vice versa. But I want the solution to be loosely coupled. Any best possible way without touching the Actual Page (which hosts UC's)? So i need some best possible way between UCs transfering C.

When I try to build I get an error on the line with the "if" statement:

Nov 24, 2010I am using the validation controls, and I would like to display nothing for each individual control, but a message box summary. However, my validators are within a Repeater (see below) and each row can have up to 2 errors, and I want some way to be able to show in my summary whether ANY row has Error 1 or ANY row has Error 2. I.e. I want my summary to say 'The Grid contains Error 1 (new line) The Grid contains Error 2'. At the moment my summary gives me a separate line for each row where there is an error. Jul 24, 2010have a webpage that has a button and 2 userControl placed inside the placeHolder with visible set to false.When run and click on the button, userControl1 will set the visible to true. Now userControl1 is visible and there is also a button inside this userControl1 and when click, will set userControl2 visible to true and hide userControl1. Is there a way to do so that when click on the button inside userControl1, is does not show userControl2? I want to do this way is because, the button is for submitting data to database and then will pop up userControl2. When there is an error, only a msgBox will pop up and does not show userControl2.

Jan 12, 2011I am using the TabContainer control on my page.. i have 3 tabpanels within it that are used for 3 different types of searches..After meeting with the client yesterday it was brought to our attention that once you complete the fields you want to search on and hit enter nothing happens..Is there a way to enable the enter key for the buttons? And if there is, can it be setup so it triggers the correct button? I say this because on the page, even though there are 3 tabs each with their own submit button. Mar 18, 2010To start with - I'm using VS 2008/.NET 3.5 and working in a company-provided template that leaves me restricted to some/many settings that go beyond the body of the page itself. That said, I need to create a page that will display data from individual cells in a database table that, when lined up would look like a normal sentence. Based on certain criteria I would have certain sections of the sentences hide (ex. if it contains a key phrase or if it's empty).
I've seen a method in which Labels could be used to achieve this effect, where I would assign it the grid coordinates of the cell in a table, but I could never get it to work. I've been successfully connected to the table (LINQDataSource) but still have a blank canvas without this fundamental display technique as that will be all that's in it.

Mar 17, 2011I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.
My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Jan 28, 2011I have a page with an UpdatePanel with a UserControl in it. That UserControl contains a GridView with a nested UserControl that seems to disappear when the parent UserControl is rebound. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the child UserControl disappears. The code works beautifully on the first load, but any partial postback causes the "Pick" UserControl to disappear.

Nov 9, 2010I also have a working application that popukates my datagrid with valid data rows from my DataBase. What I cant figure out is how to get each of the hyperlink lables to NAVIGATE to the correct and corresponding aspx page!
For example I have 5 rows in the datagrid and each row has its own hyperlink, each row contains contact and a short profile on 5 diffrent companies. For example when i click on let say row 3 that has (eg) Jimmy's Big Prawn's Restaurant listed in the the datagrid, I want to be navigated to a webform page dedicated to Jimmy's Big Prawn Restaurant.
