Web Forms :: Removing Existing JavaScript And Replace With Code?

Apr 12, 2010

In ASP.NET 4.0 RC2 the Menu Control by default emits Javascript like this:

[Code]....

There should be a feature coming up to disable this, but I think it's not in RC yet. At least it's not working for me.

Now, the problem is, that this Javascript kills my own Menu Javascript (I use an CSS Adapter). Is there a way to overwrite the stuff that comes from the Menu control? Can be a hack, just need something until this is fixed by MS.

SQL Server :: Uploading .pdf Files With File Upload Control And Then Saving To Database

Oct 25, 2010

I'd like to allow users to upload a .pdf file via the file upload control (if that's the best method), save the file to the db and then retrieve it so they can click on a link and open the .pdf they've uploaded. I've been looking for a tutorial on how to do this but keep running into methods of saving the file directly on the server in a directory, not in SQL server (using Linq and VB by the way)

How To Replace As Little As Possible Of The Existing Code

Apr 15, 2010

I am receiving the contents of a file via ftp. I don't want to go into every detail (unless needed), but I am working with existing code that was using 3rd-party software to get ftp files. I am replacing that with .NET code. But I want to replace as little as possible of the existing code that is not specifically using the 3rd-party s/w. So I am trying to use a class originally written by the author of the code (a former employee).

This is his class constructor:

Code:

Public Sub New(ByVal fileName As String, ByVal content As StreamReader)
Me.FileName = fileName
Me.Content = content
Me.TimeStamp = Date.Now
End Sub

So I need to pass a StreamReader. My problem is how to get one.
In my procedure ReceiveFile(), I execute this code:

Code:

Private Shared Sub ReceiveFile(ByVal sFilename As String, ByRef objMemoryStream As System.IO.MemoryStream)
Try

Dim request As FtpWebRequest = DirectCast(WebRequest.Create("ftp site and folder" & sFilename), FtpWebRequest)
request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile
request.Credentials = New NetworkCredential("id", "pw")
Dim response As FtpWebResponse = DirectCast(request.GetResponse(), FtpWebResponse)
Dim responseStream As Stream = response.GetResponseStream()
Dim reader As New StreamReader(responseStream)
Dim sFile As String = reader.ReadToEnd
'reader.Close()
' response.Close()
'objMemoryStream = responseStream
Dim objStream As System.IO.MemoryStream
objStream = New System.IO.MemoryStream(Convert.FromBase64String(sFile))
' objMemoryStream = Convert.FromBase64String(sFile)
objMemoryStream = objStream
'Return reader
Catch ex As Exception
Dim i As Integer
i = 10
End Try
End Sub

responseStream is declared as a stream but when I query it in the debugger it says it's an FtpDataStream, after it's set equal to response.GetResponseStream. I want to take that stream and somehow get it into a MemoryStream. I thought I found the solution this morning via Convert.FromBase64String, but when I ran I got an exception saying "Invalid character in a base-64 string", and I think it's because of the newline character in the string. The file that's received contains three lines separated by a newline character.

DataSource Controls :: Uploading Multiple Files To File System And Saving Paths To Database With One Button Click

Jan 20, 2010

I creating a page where our clients can view advertising images and then able to download the images in different file formats. So I need the images and the different download types all saved into the same row in the database so that when I go to display them on the page when they select a picture the right download links will be there. So here where my problem comes in, I don't know how to code it so that I can insert mulitiple file paths into the database at once. The images are saved in a table called images. The downloads are saved in a table called Image Downloads.

Here is the code for the page I have it coded to submit the images to the database but not sure how to add the rest. I have got three different sql datasources for each table not sure if that's the way to go.

Configuration :: Uploading Existing Database To The Host-Plesk?

Jan 14, 2011

I was trying to upload the database of my ASP.NET website. On the local machine, if I copy the database from another machine, I have to attach it through SQL Server Management Studio and then use it in the connection string like

[Code]....

My database is approx. 10 MB in size for now. If I upload it via ftp to App_Data folder, how would I have to attach this database?In Plesk, I have the option to create the database and its user (as shown in the screenshots):1) Web Applications and services-Plesk2) Add New Databaseand add new database user3) Webadmin>ASP.ET Enterprise ManagerBut this is for the new database I created. My problem is to upload an existing one.There's also a section in Plesk for ASP.NET settings (as shown below)

This has the option to change the connection string etc.I also asked my hosting provider about the method to be followed for attaching the database that I would upload. This was the reply in quote." mdf ldf files perhaps will be working at your local computer but this way database of mssql will not work on web server as on web server you will be required to create and restore your database backup file using plesk control panel.

Sample connection string for asp.net
mssql `Standard Security`:
"Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=Your_Server_Name;Initial Catalog=Your_Database_Name;UserId=Your_Username;Password=Your_Password;"

Server name to be used in coding: localhost Catalog/ database name , database user and database password you will be required to create your own using plesk control panelI would be really be appreciative for the steps I have to take to upload my existing database. How do I have attach it? What connection string I have to use?

Configuration :: How To Prevent Specific Files Being Deleted From Temporary Files

Jun 2, 2010

The majority of files in the Temporary ASP.NET File folder for a given application get deleted by ASP.NET following compilation -- .DLL and .PDB files amongst others remain.

Our compiler produces proprietary debug information files which are amongst those that get deleted.

Marking the files read-only prevents this but are there other options available?

Web Forms :: Uploading Multiple Files In 1.1?

Sep 23, 2010

I am trying to make a web application which copies the existing functionality of a windows forms application using Visual Studio 2003. This windows application takes multiple (I am talking at least 30) text files and joins them together into one text file which can then be feed into a Mainframe system in the correct format. I have written web applications before that uploads images and pdfs but the key thing is it was always only one or two files at a time, so this was easy to do with the HTML fileupload control.

What I want to do is to be able to open a directory on the local computer and either automatically, or give the user the chance to multi select (I dont think this is possible) all of the 30 or so files they wish to upload. Once its been uploaded I can do the processing to join the files and create my new one etc. All the examples I have seen on the web, you have to select the files one by one to add to a list box and then they can all be uploaded but this wont be acceptable to my users...

Web Forms :: Uploading Files From One Site To Another?

Aug 24, 2010

I need to upload files from one site to another and I thought about using the WebClient class and FileUpload method from the System.Net namespace. I read the MSDN documentation and it seems an easy task to achieve but something is going on wrong. For now, I am only testing with the following simple code to upload a file to a test web server in our office which uses HTTP port 8080 instead of 80:

[Code]....

The code above issues the following exception: "The remote server returned an error: (404) No Found." I have made sure that both paths are correct.

Also, does the UploadFile method saves the file physically in the hard disk (I suppose so) or does it load it into the server's memory?

Web Forms :: Uploading Files And Editing Them On One Page?

Jan 23, 2010

I have one page that has a FileUpload control with a "Upload Photo" button and underneath that is a ListView control. I would like for the user to be able to browse for a photo and when they click the "Upload Photo" button, that photo displays, along with text boxes that are linked to my database (title, description, photodate) in the listview. The user can then repeat the uploading so that the user can upload as many photos as they want and they show up in the listview (all of them). After the user has uploaded all the photos he wants and has filled out all the information into the boxes of the corresponding photo, the user will then click a button ("Publish") the will publish all the photos that are in the listview.

How would I go about doing this?

Web Forms :: Viewing And Downloading Existing Files

Jan 21, 2010

I want to view the existing files in a directory which is "~/Images". Now the code below works fine and it shows the files (with its name and other details) in this directory very well in a data grid. The name is a hyperlink, but when I click on it, it tries to view the file in "~" (i.e current working directory) instead of "~/Images" and therefore reports the server error as - "file not found".

Also, how to implement if I want the save as option when I click on the file, so that I could save it directory locally instead of viewing it in browser?

VB Code-

Imports System.IO
Partial Class uploaddoc
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim dirInfo As New DirectoryInfo(Server.MapPath("~Images"))
articleList.DataSource = dirInfo.GetFiles("*.gif")
articleList.DataBind()
End Sub
End Class
HTML (ASP.NET) Code -
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="uploaddoc.aspx.vb" Inherits="uploaddoc" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
