View 1 RepliesIf a disabled drop-down list is dynamically rendered to the page, it is still possible to use Firebug, or another tool, to tamper with the submitted value, and to remove the "disabled" HTML attribute.
This code:
[code]....
The problem occurs when I use Firebug to remove the "disabled" attribute, and to change the selected option.On submission of the form, and re-creation of the field, the newly generated control has the correct value by the end of OnLoad, but by OnPreRender, it has assumed the identity of the submitted control and has been given the submitted form value.
.NET seems to have no way of detecting the fact that the field was originally created in a disabled state and that the submitted value was faked. This is understandable, as there could be legitimate, client-side functionality that would allow the disabled attribute to be removed.
Is there some way, other than a brute force approach, of detecting that this field's value should not have been changed?
I see the brute force approach as being something crap, like saving the correct value somewhere while still in OnLoad, and restoring the value in the OnPreRender. As some fields have dependencies on others, that would be unacceptable to me.
I have a textbox with a calendar icon next to it. When the icon is clicked a popup form displays the calendar control. I have it set up where they can only select the week ending date(saturday) and that date is displayed in the textbox.
I want to prevent users from editing the textbox. I've tried using the readonly and enabled properties but that doesn't work.
How can I keep users from modifying the date in the textbox?
I need to hide query string in url on button click and by using <a hef="http://xyz?abc=pol" />
View 1 Repliesi have issue with browser close prompt;
"the webpage you are viewing is trying to close the window"
in ie6 i prevent this by using coding
self.opener = this;
self.close();
in ie7 and ie8 i prevent this by using coding
window.open('', '_self', '');
window.close();
but, problem is which code will prevent for all brower(ie6,7,8) asking the message.
The web app in question provides a UI for editing a client (in the business sense, not the browser sense), identified by a ClientID. I store the ClientID in Session, which gets passed from page to page, along with a number of other pieces of data in Session. Works great.
The problem is that if the user opens a new browser window using Ctrl N or File->New Window (in IE), the new window comes up with the same page as the current page, with the same session info. Then if the user navigates to a different client in the 2nd window, the ClientID in session refers to the new client. If they go back to the original browser window and save, the original client gets saved using the 2nd ClientID, and all hell breaks loose, because now the data from the two jobs are intertwined.
I have enabled trace and verified that the new browser window uses the same SessionID as the original. If an entirely new instance of IE is opened, it has a different SessionID, so is not a problem. I have not yet investigated other browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox.
Is there any way to determine if a browser instance is opened for a web app which is already open in another window or tab? Or to prevent that from happening?
My problem is am filling a form in a webpage, and click on save for instance, take the URL of mu webpage and paste it in a new window and it loads all the information I subscribed, how can I prevent that knowing that I used the Below code and it does nothing

View 7 RepliesWe have developed a system to allow users to access another one of our web applications by placing a token in the db and then when they redirect passing this token in the browser to the new apop and using that as an authenication method. However I am thinking that it might be better to simply place this token in the browser cookie as then the user doesnt have to physically click a link they can simply do straight to it because the token wont be in the query string anymore....
Will it add much of an overhead doing it via cookies are there any disadvantages?
It works when i pass the querystring on the browser as this: http://localhost:51765/foo/foo.aspx?ID=c516f4f4-36a9-40a7-baad-d2419ea631b9 want it to work when the page load not when i pass the querystring on the browser.

I am using asp.net 2.0 with c#.
i want a pop up to be displayed when user tries to close the browser and if user click on "no" [i.e. he don't want browser to be closed] then it prevent browser to get closed.
I'm looking for a way to get rid of the querystring of a page and redirect to itself but preserver the querystring data in some way. Exmaple: [URL] should redirect to [UL] Still, after the redirect, I want to be able to pick up the parameters that were originally passed. And I don't want to have [URL] in the browser's history.
What I tried so far:
* Response.Redirect(): does a proper redirect without creating browser history but I cannot preserver the parameters.
* Server.Transfer: preserves the parameters but the browser's URL remains unchanged.
* Create a client form on the fly and submit in "onload": works, querystring is gone, parameters are accessible through Request.Form, but creates a history entry in the browser.
The only thing I can currently think of is to store the parameters in the session, then redirect, then pick them up from there.
i just like to ask if you have any idea of preventing the Back button of the browser to navigate back to the previous page after a user log in.Ex:After a user successfully logged in to my website and he/she hit the Back button of the browser.I want this to not redirected to the previous page instead redirected to the same page which is my Main page.Also after a user logged out to my website and again he/she hit the Back button of the browser.I also want this to not redirected to the previous page instead redirected to my login page.
