Web Forms :: Pulling Information From Another Webform - Passing Parameters

Nov 29, 2010

I'm creating a pseudo invoicing system. I've got a webform where users can pick such informaiton as days, companies, etc to pull the information to create the invoice for and then they click a submit button. I'm wondering what the easiest method would be to get this information. I've had success with such commands as:

DropDownList SourceTextBox = (DropDownList)Page.PreviousPage.FindControl("DropDownList2");

but how can you pull this information through the SQLDataSource tools? When I choose to alter the "WHERE" in the sql clause to a control items in the previous page are not accessible.

I recently designed a website for a school, I have their result in my database, I am using Northwind. What I want to do is, since all the result are in the data, I want to input a students name, exam number and some numbers in a card(exam scratch card, which they will purchase) they will purchase. When they input these details, the students results will be pulled out from the database.

Just like exam result portal, where you will look up your result with, your name, school number and numbers from the scratch card.

Pulling Similar Data From Multiple Information Sources?

Feb 1, 2011

So I have been trying to follow serenarules posts about persistence layers, but I seem to be missing something.

The persistence layer is an architectural layer whose job is to provide an abstract interface to information storage mechanism(s).

This makes sense to me, but I am still having a hard time with this.

So in what cases is this necessary? When you are pulling similar data from multiple information sources?

Web Forms :: Passing Information From A MasterPage To A CustomSiteMapProvider?

Feb 27, 2010

The MasterPage displays the NavBar for every page of my site.

The NavBar is constructed from a SQL table using a CustomSiteMapProvider.

I need to pass information from the MasterPage to the CustomSiteMapProvider to get it to display the whole SiteMap or only part of it.

In the CustomSiteMapProvider class I have included a property:

Private vSiteMapID As String
<Personalizable(True)> _
<WebBrowsable(True)> _
Public Property SiteMapID() As String

[Code]....

But ViewState is either undefined or gives "reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference" if I import System.Web.UI.PageStatePersister.

Web Forms :: Passing Parameters In Dropdownlist And Sqldatasource

Jun 3, 2010

I am trying to pass the parameters dynamically thru Sqldatasource and get the results in grid view. Based on the dropdown list selection it has to show the results in grid view. When I hard code its giving correct results but when passing thru parameters i'm unable to get the results in grid view.

Output shud be something like this:

Select the value: 123

124

125.

Lets say user selects '123', the query it runs in sqldatasource is Select col1,col2,col3 from table1 where col1 LIKE '123%'

results will be 12301,12302,12303 with other columns in grid view.

Forms Data Controls :: ReportViewer LocalReport Passing Parameters?

Feb 26, 2010

I know how to pass parameters to Reportviewer in LocalReport mode via textboxes on the page where the user enters them and then they click refresh and everything works fine. What I cannot figure out is how to not pass parameters and make the report display everything, which should be the default.

I know I am missing something really obvious on the Report Parameters screen. Does anybody know the secret?

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Parameters To A Popup Dialog?

Oct 26, 2010

I am currently writing an ASP .NET (Framework 3.5) page that has a Grid View inside it.

One of the columns of this GridView contains only buttons, that if clicked should open a popup dialog.

To open the dialog I wrote the following code on the button's event handler:

[Code]....

Now when I click on any of the buttons the dialog opens just fine, however I need to pass some parameters to the dialog so that they can be displayed inside it. That's why I've encoded a Base 64 string and passed it as an argument of the popup dialog (apparently if I just used the plain string, the dialog would not open because the string contained linefeed characters).

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the parameter (base 64 string) on the code behind of the popup dialog. How can I do this?

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Multiple Parameters Through The DataNavigateUrlFomratString In GridView?

Apr 29, 2010

I Have a gridview where I have a link to a details page and I need to pass multiple parameters. I currently have the following:

<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="AssocID" HeaderText="AssocID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="AssocID" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="FirstName" HeaderText="First Name"
SortExpression="FirstName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="MiddleInitial" HeaderText="M. I."
SortExpression="MiddleInitial" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="LastName" HeaderText="Last Name"
SortExpression="LastName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="State" HeaderText="State" SortExpression="State" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="EMail1" HeaderText="EMail 1"
SortExpression="EMail1" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="AddrType" HeaderText="Addr Type"
SortExpression="AddrType" />
<asp:HyperLinkField DataNavigateUrlFields="AddrID,AssocID"
DataNavigateUrlFormatString="Details.aspx?AddrID={0}&AssocID={1}" HeaderText="Details"
Text="Details" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="AddrID" HeaderText="AddrID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="AddrID" Visible="False" />
</Columns>

According to all I have read my DataNavagateUrlFields string should work but it isn't. The deal is that any one (AssocID) can have multiple AddrID's associated with it. Regardless of which I choose I only get back the first AddrID for that AssocId.

C# - What Is Passing Parameters To SQL

Jul 9, 2010

In this answer to my question of how to insert data into SQL Server he mentioned passing parameters instead of string concatenation like I currently have.

Is this really necessary for security? If so, what exactly is passing parameters? When i google it I get a lot about stored procedures. Is that what I want, I do not know about stored procedures....yet.

EDIT:

Ok, here is what I got. It seems to update the database correctly and eventually I will change the hard coded ints to inputs from a label. confirm if how I did this is not vulnerable to any sql injection or hacks.
