Web Forms :: Pulling Information From Another Webform - Passing Parameters

Nov 29, 2010

I'm creating a pseudo invoicing system. I've got a webform where users can pick such informaiton as days, companies, etc to pull the information to create the invoice for and then they click a submit button. I'm wondering what the easiest method would be to get this information. I've had success with such commands as:

DropDownList SourceTextBox = (DropDownList)Page.PreviousPage.FindControl("DropDownList2");

but how can you pull this information through the SQLDataSource tools? When I choose to alter the "WHERE" in the sql clause to a control items in the previous page are not accessible.

Using Webform User Control On Webform In MVC Project?

Feb 26, 2010

I am using a server control on a single web.forms page. I have to use this control on a web.forms page since its a server control, although this is actually a MVC project. So I created a web.forms folder and put my new page in it. I then copy the example code from the signature control. I get the following error:

The base class includes the field 'ctrlSign', but its type (WebSignatureCapture.SignatureControl) is not compatible with the type of control (ASP.signaturecapture_signaturecontrol_ctlsignature_ascx).

I know the code works because if I removed the ID attribute from the server control, it no longer gives me this error and my control renders. But I need the attribute for the ID so I can perform is post event

I am using this signature control. Here's the web.forms code...

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Index.aspx.cs" Inherits="KahunaCentralTIDRevamp.SignatureCapture.Index" %> [code]....

Forms Data Controls :: Adding The Custom Header Control To The GridView Header?

Jan 21, 2010

Scenario:
I have a Gridview where I want to handle the Sorting in a custom control that I've added to the header.
I've added this control to my GridView's Header via OnRowCreate event handling. I want the Sort Expressions to persist session to session (via Webparts Personalization)

Here is what I have for adding the custom header control to the GridView Header

[Code]....

This works out well for adding the control, but I can't get anything to persist because these controls are creating initially via postback (per the event) and re-created on all subsequent postbacks. I can't add an If(!IsPostback) because the controls are initially created on the gridview's postback (well at least thats how it's acting when I put it in there) If I were to add this control via the ASP page, not via the Codebehind, I would be able to persist the control. If I try to treat it as though everything is setup correctly, and assign my custom control's controls to [Personalizable], I get a runtime error telling me that I can only have webpartzones in or before Page_init (I'm guessing this is due to when/where the
gridview hits the OnRowCreate event). If there is some fundimental logic I'm missing, or best practices that I'm moving away from,

By default meaning that is what I typed in designer mode is "Users Waiting Approval", but when I load the page I run a routine to see if there are and new users requesting access and at that point durning the page load I would like to change the tab from "Users Waiting Approval" to "Users Waiting Approval *" with the star at the end (*). How can I update this tab header text durning the page load event? Is there some javascript function I can call like set_HeaderText?

MVC :: How And Where To Store Search Parameters In Application

Oct 14, 2010

I am working on a railway web application and I have following layers:

[Code]....

I pass Domain Entity Objects from Repository to Service layer and thinking of passing View Models from Service to Presentation layer. Website would require a login and after successful login I have to present a search screen with basic search (as default option) and option for advance search. Once user fills the
search criteria I have to gather data from DB & Web Services and present the results to user. User would select a particular Rail option and would move on to other additional options page BUT they should be allowed to change their previously selected Rail option by going back to Rail search results. I have to
always hold and present user's initial search criteria (basic and advance search options selected by user on the search wizard) on every screen and need these criteria in Service and Repository layers.

What is the best way to hold these search criteria and pass them from page to page within presentation layer and across layers? Should I create a View Model class for Search Options? Or a Domain Entity Object (I don't think so)? and best way to pass it across layers and from page to page with in presentation layer.

Php - Validate If An Web Application Gets The Users Input Or Parameters?

Oct 21, 2010

I am always thinking about validation in any kind on the webpage (PHP or ASP, it doesn't matter), but never find a good and accurate answer. For example, a I have some GET-Parameter, which defines a SQL query like DESC oder ASC. (SQL-Injection?) Or I have a comment-function for user, where the data is also saved in a database.

Is it enought to check for HTML-tags inside the data? Should the validation done before adding it to the database or showing it on the page? I am searching for the ToDo's which should be always performed with any data given from "outside".

SQL Reporting :: How To Call Multi-value Parameters In SSRS From Application

Oct 6, 2010

i am trying to call an SSRS report (in VS 2005) from my asp.net (web application) implemented in VS 2008 (don't ask me why, i am kind of confused by this weird arrangement too). report has been deployed to report server and it contains a multi-value parameter.when i call report from asp.net app, i set the value for this multi-value parameter as a string and all selected values are separated by comma. i.e. i have 5 options (a, b, c, d, e), and i selected first two, the string is then "a,b".

the multi-value parameter on the report side is defined as: Multi-value selected, Allow blank selected, Avaliable values are from query (a dataset that contains a, b, c, d, e) Value field and Label field are both mapped to dataset filed (there is only one field in the dataset). the default values are from query too (same dataset). value field is mapped also.

i have two problems:

1: it looks to me that all available values are selected on the report side, regardless what i really selected and passed over (when i turn on paramters).

2: when i turn off parameters, i need to display what values being selected as a string, the join statement, join(Parameters!TeamLead.Value), gives a list of all available values for the multi-value parameter, however, i only need selected values. how should i write this expression (for a textbox) to join only selected items in the multi-value parameter(i don't see any option in the intellisense dropdown box)?

Query String Parameters Make Application At Risk?

Feb 1, 2010

I'm writing an Asp.Net WebForms app where I am calling an edit page an passing in the data about the record to be edited using query string parameters in the URL.Like:http://myapp.path/QuoteItemEdit.aspx?PK=1234&DeviceType=12&Mode=EditOn a previous page in the app, I have presented the user with a GridView of screened items he can edit based on his account privileges, and I call the edit page with these above parameter list, and the page know what to do. I do NOT do any additional checking on the target page to validate whether the user has access to the passed in PK record value as I planned to rely on the previous page to filter the list down and I would be fine
