I have been debating back and forth between using a database or the file server to store images for users. Finally when I decided to use the file server I found it difficult. What I am trying to do is give a user the option to save multiple profile pictures. I have looked all over for tutorials on how to save to the file server but could find nothing related. Essentially what I would like to do is create folders for each user and their images. I am having no luck. Does anyone have example code or links to what I am looking for?

View 6 RepliesI have a data entry and editing form and in every data entry or update event, I have to send an email to a dynamic list of recipients. I have been sending the email as soon as the user clicks the save or edit buttons but am thinking of first saving the data to the database, and then sending the email later. I want to do this partly to improve the response time of the application as the email sending tends to take a long time than desired.

View 1 RepliesCurrently we are saving files (PDF, DOC) into the database as BLOB fields. I would like to be able to retrieve the raw text of the file to be able to manipulate it for hit-highlighting and other functions.Does anyone know of a simple way to either parse out the files and save the raw text on save, either via SQL or .net code. I have found that Adobe has a filtdump utility that will convert the PDF to text. Filtdump seems to be a command line tool, and i don't see a way to use a file stream. And what would the extractor be for Office documents and other file types?-or-Is there a way to pull out the raw text from the SQL Full text index, without using 3rd party filters?Note i am trying to build a .net & MSSql solution without having to use a third party tool such as Lucene
