SQL Server :: Binary Data Not Writing To Database?
Sep 24, 2010
I have an ASP.NET app that writes binary data to a SQL database. It worked fine using SQL Express, but does not ever write the data using SQL Server 2008 R2. SQL Profiler shows the binary data in the UPDATE query, but nothing happens... no errors, no data saved. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Other data types work fine.
I've created 2 web user controls. A = User control that displays an image, and B is the user control that hosts A. I'm trying to stream an array of bytes to A, but it seems like the Response.BinaryWrite method completely overwrites any heirachial controls (I can't see any of B's other controls besides the image).
How do I get A to just display the image from the byte stream? It doesn't come from a database, it's an image I created on the fly.
I have one folder which contains the jpg images. That images i want to store binary format into sql server database. And finally that images binding in the DataGrid.
I've got an MVC 2 application running on Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5. The application runs without issues. I added ELMAH to trap unhandled errors, write them to a database and send emails. The ELMAH functionality works without issues on my development machine (XP). However, that same functionality does not work on the server. ELMAH fails silently so I'm at a loss to know why things are not working
I was just wondering that when we insert some datainto database we can use the following method.
create a sql datasourse , set the conection string, set the insert comand type, set insert parameters, and Set the SQL Statement like sqldatasource.insertStatement="insert into tablename(field1, field2) values(@parameter1, @parameter2)";
and then call the datasourse insert() function, this method is usually used for single line insertion at the end of the DB.
Now I am a starter in asp.net c#,
I want to know that if There is a way that I have lots of data like some XML file that have the same table structure as the SQL database table and I want to write that data to the database, HOw to do it Properly,
I can Still achieve the required results by iterating through XML datarows and for each row conecting to db and inserting and then disconecting dfrom the db,
But I want to know that if there is a way to do it in one go meaning I have to conect to database only one time,
Note: I already have some data in my SQL table, there are three fields(ID Name and Nickname) the ID(primary key) is INT type and auto incremented, the name and nickname are strigns. the xml file has the structure
Friends have quick question for you.i want to know storing videos and images into database(binary data) or local hard drive is efficent. What way general websites stores them in their websites.
My Image is showing in Image Control from somewhere, now my question is that How to save that shown image from Image Control without Using FileUpload Control to Database in ASP.Net?
Actually i have got a task to implement web cam to grid from there user will click button, another window will pop up then he will capture that image, then that image will be shown in GridView, then when a user click Submit button all the images captured by the user got saved to database in the form of Image
I have referred the following article : [URL] .....
I want to display image in detailview.. I used image datatype in the database instead of using varbinary. but the problem is.. detail view is not fetching the picture..
i just cannot work this out... i have a gridview and when a user clicks on a row the checkbox unchecks itself... when the user clicks the row a sqldatasource.update is called from the selectedindexchanged event, problem is when it writes back to the database it writes back every checkbox as unchecked, i want just the row that's selected...
what i can't work out is i've tried putting a where clause in the sqlcommand which is something like where primarykeyID = gridview1.selectedvalue... now it won't write anything back to the database...!!! ... once i take out the where clause, it writes back to every row..!!
I have a coloumn in a database table in which i am storing the candidates photo in a binary format.
now i have to show these photo in a gridview according to the candidates rollno. i am trying to use the imagefield of a gridview control to display the photo but it is not displaying the photo in a grid view
Whenever I add more than a very short string to the "description" column in my table I get this error. That column (in the DVD table) is set to NVARCHAR(1000). I can't see what the problem is. I've add the procedure that throws exception below.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException was unhandled by user code Message="String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated." Source=".Net SqlClient Data Provider" ErrorCode=-2146232060
I have been googling this and have not come along a working solution for an entire day. I don't know anything about binary data types (as I've never knowingly used them) and I'm trying to write a binary value that I see in the registry, to the registry. Now, all I see is the following [shown below]... and if I try to pass that as a string to the RegSetValueEx in the WinAPI and of course it errors out... I do not know what 'numbers' I need to pass into the lpData As Any, argument of RegSetValueEx (i tried a bit array) in order for it to come out as the following [shown below] in the regedit. I really have no idea, and my tests to place random numbers in the bit array just produce corresponding random "figures" as visible in regedit that I do not understand how to 'tie' them together logically.
here is the culprit!
[Code]...
If I had the following in a string or a bit array, what must I populate the bitarray with so that the registry outputs this [above] when written? or, how can I figure out how to do it? I was hoping there'd be a function that reads my string of binary data and transforms it into the real binary format to submit to the RegSetValueEx function in VB6 or other function in VB.Net or C# (this really is a language agnostic question, and the problem exists in all languages; ie: same process).
I have a site where users can save images together with a couple of info fields about the image. The images are stored as binary data in the same table as the rest of the image info. So far pretty standard.
Now, the users should be able to upload a document, describing the image in more detail, along with the rest of the image and its' info.
Size ~2MB per document.
My question is: Should I store this document (binary data) in the same table as the rest of the images or should I create a new table holding only the documents. There would of course be an id reference in the image table to the document in the document table.
I have a search function joining a couple of tables, including the image table, when searching for images. I need to know if there's a difference in efficiency between these two solutions.
I always fetch the document data separately but if I don't win anything in having the documents in a separate table I'll just put it with the rest of the image info.
I'm asking this since I don't really know how SQL Server handle tables when joing and searching in them.
I have about 10´000 users with a maximum of 10 images per user. (ASP.NET - SQL Server) (I'm not asking if I should store documents in the database, but how ;)
I want to send a file by converting it into binary file to the client end and then it should be read by javascript which again I am passing to the OCX method.(like my OCX method accept only the binary data so i have to transmit binary data from server side to client).
1)How to convert 64base string to binary in asp.net and store into sql server.
2)when i convert 64 base string into binary & try to store it into database then it has taken so much tiime to insert. The size of 64base string is 1.5MB. and when i converted to binary then the size is 11MB.so the best way to insert the binary data into sql server. The data type of column is varbinary(MAX).
3)How can i insert the varbinary data into sql server uisng asp.net?
I am using Sql server version enterprise edition 9 on win NT.I have an issue with the stored procedure, when I execute the SP I get an error message "String or binary data would be truncated." In general I know that we get this error when the inserted value is greater than the column length, but in this scenario the SP is failing only the for the section 1 insertion. The same SP contains one more section where we are inserting records in to same table from same source table based on some different condition and it works.I wrote a script in which I copied the section from the SP which has the problem and storing the output of it in an temp table and inserting one by one record using cursors in to the destination table and then it works.I tried with the option SET ANSI_WARNINGS OFF and SET ANSI_NULLS ON, but it did not work. I am sure that it is not failing because of the length of the data inserted. Is there are other configuration that i can set??
