How can I retain data on any link click in web page. For example, I have two drop down list boxes and I have sleected some data in it and when I am clicking on some link, these two ddl's are getting refreshed. How can I retains this.

View 5 Repliesi have a grid view with all columns as TemplateFields( No BoundField). Based on certain condition i have to set Visibility of few columns false. Suppose when there is no column 'CaseList2' in the DataTable, then the second column of the grid (whose column index is 1 )should be invisible. But when the Gridview binds it gives error DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the name 'CaseList2'
i googled it and found that
GridView1.Columns[1].Visible = false;
should work. But its not working actualy.

I have a grid view with a nested text box in it.I would like to turn view state off but the fact of the matter is when data is posted,the text boxes inside the gridview aren't available (there are no rows in the gridview on postback). Control's information is not stored in the View State (for things like selected value and .text etc.):Control state,introduced in ASP.NET version 2.0, is similar to view state but functionally independent of view state.However,control state cannot be disabled. Control state is designed for storing a control's essential data (such as a pager control's page number) that must be available on postback to enable the control to function even when view state has been disabled. StartTime and EndTime and I am couting total time he/she takes. Till here it is OK. But what I want when user clicks on Logout, then he/she will logged out (Temporary). and after the some time when he / she will again login..... here, I want to set his / her EndTiming. I don't understand how to maintain this state?

I have created a property called as IsEntryGrid. Which is boolean. If it is true then it is assumed that it will be a grid where dataentry is possible from footer controls. Controls in footer are created dynamically. My problem is that when i m pressing ok image button control state is not maintained.
eg. In my footer say there is a text box for field OrganicationCode. I enter Org Code as M01 and if i press enter, i m not getting that back in my page event..

The CreateInfoTable(...) method manually creates the rows and columns for the employee. This works, and I can see my dynamically created table; however, after the user submits the form back to the server for PostBack, the rendered page after submission is missing my manually populated table. How can I save my table across PostBacks?
I have a gridview in which I have the autopaging option set to true, when i load the grid everything works on the first page, i can even go to second page , but when i click the edit button nothing happens and after that any click blows up the page giving me error Faile to load view state.

*2* pagination views -- 2 options -- IS in updatepanel
The situation goes as follows: Refresh WORKS in default setting but when I select *2* radio button options and refresh the page renders the state that the (1) was entered in.

I am using the session variable to hold the Pagination Viewing option but during page states, I've noticed that when a 2nd option is selected of *2* radio buttons (doesn't matter of 1st or 2nd option was initially selected) that during debugging mode the step over corrects the issue but not the right table viewing. Upon entering Page_Init selection selection index of radio button list returns to 1st option.

View 9 RepliesI have a simple user control containing two text boxes which I am adding to placeholder on Button Click event. I am storing the number(count) of clicks in View state and running a loop using count to create all previously added user control. I am also adding IDs to each User control (appending "UC" and count). I have also checked in view source the ids are same each time they are created. I have another button which basically does an post back. I have EnableViewState enabled ="true" in all controlls all the way up to Page Level. My problem is that User Input does not persist on postback. Should this not be happening automatically for me?

We have written a basic event logger that's registered in our Computer Management->System Tools->Event Viewer that writes any exceptions in our ASP..Net/C# web application.

In order to write to the proper Event, we thought we could set the LOG NAME and SOURCE NAME properties in the Application_Start(), but it seems we're experiencing situations where the event logger is losing a reference to the SOURCE NAME property and we're getting an intermittent error (IE: on LINE 8) saying: Must Specify Value For Source. Here's where we set it:

I have a web application running on IIS 7 on a Windows 7 machine. The app pool is configured for .Net 4, 32 bit enabled, Integrated Pipeline.
Everything seems to be fine with the app until I first create a session variable in one of my asmx pages.
Once I've created the session variable the handling of subsequent http requests sometimes takes upwards of 30 after the browser has posted to my asmx page before the function is actually invoked. I've been looking all over my configuration settings and searching the web and still have no idea what could be going wrong here.
The method that sets the session variable looks something like this:
