I have two files in my project. One is user control (popup) customerpicker.ascx and one is default.aspx page. In customerpicker I have dynamically generated gridview and 'select' column with SelectButton.
What I want is this: When I click on 'select' on random row in gridview, then I like to display value from selected row immediately (like ajax) to aspx.page. How it is possible?
We are developing a framework which will be shared accross applications. What is the best way to share master pages, user controls accross applications by preventing other developers to modify the master pages and the user controls ?
Is the following way suitable one ? Embedding masterpages and the user controls in a dll and using VirtualPathProvider to load the master pages and user controls dynamically.
But in this approach developers can not view the design. Is there any other way to convert master pages and user controls to a different format as developers can able to view design?
From an ascx page, I click a link that opens a popup aspx page(child). That aspx page has a gridview with hyperklinks. When I click on one of the hyperlinks of my gridview, I want to pass the value in that cell to a textbox located on my ascx page(parent). I try using javascript , but I can't get it to work. here is my javascript code and the gridview code:
I have a user control where is a textbox and button with PostBackUrl="two.aspx". This user control I have on a page one.aspx. When I click that button, on two.aspx I want to have access to the textbox from ascx control. PreviousPage.FindControl doesn't work. How to do that?
I have a page called main.apsx and on that page I have a multiview with a couple of view panes. In main.aspx I also have an have a buttons.ascx file with a few link buttons. When these buttons are clicked I want them to show the the selected view panels in multiview in main.aspx.
I cant seem to figure out where to put the action code for the link buttons. Do I put it into my buttons.ascx.cs file or into main.aspx.cs? I presume in buttons.ascx.cs, but if I do that, how will the buttons find the multiview control?
This is the code for on of my buttons in buttons.ascx.cs
[Code]....
When I run it like this is gives an error
The name 'MultiView1' does not exist in the current
I have a user control (ascx) which contains a control (hidden field). In the page_load event of ascx, i have the below code:
HyperLink.Attributes.Add("onclick", "JavaScript:return AccessControl('" + hdnField.UniqueID + "');"); Note: The hidden field resides in .ascx file.
I want to access this hidden field at runtime and i have the below javascript function in aspx page that loads the usercontrol.
function AccessControl(hdnFieldId) { var ctrl = document.getElementById(hdnFieldId); alert(ctrl);
I am getting 'null' value in the alert. I tried using 'ClientID' and 'this' instead of 'UniqueId'. I am wondering why this is not working. I am using .net 2.0.
I'm developing an ASP.NET application with C# and Ajax.I have a page that holds user controls loaded dynamically. I need to pass some data (integer values and some strings) to the user control that has been loaded dynamically.Now I use Session to pass these values, but I think I can use another way; something like VIEWSTATE or hidden input.What do you recommend me?The fact that I load the controls dynamically is important because controls are loaded on every postback, and I can't store any value on controls.
Not sure which category to put this question in, so I will put it in here. Just to give you an idea of the layout of my solution, I have the main project, along with 2 class libraries, BLL and DAL. (Business Logic Layer and Data Access Layer) The BLL refers to the DAL and the main project refers to the BLL. I had a test website and the code worked fine, but the same code will not work on the real project. The only difference is that in the test project, the code was on an aspx code behind, whereas in the real project, it is an ascx code behind (Web User Control
)
The code is:
[Code]....
Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString
I have one aspx page and more than ascx files, i have links on aspx page. if i click one of the link, it will upload the relevant ascx file on main aspx file.
I have a variable in an aspx file I need to use/recover it's value into an ascx web control that's in this aspx file. It's possible to do it? The aspx dynamically loads web controls depending the scenario, so this web control not allways is loaded.
Okay, maybe it's a bit pedantic, but do ASP.NET user controls HAVE to have an ascx extension?
My reason for wanting to know this is purely academic. I made the statement to someone that they usually have an ascx extension, but then I had the curious thought of if that was always true or not.
We have a solution with multiple web projects, and there are some pages that should be present in several of them. So we'd need some sort of a shared project which contains aspx files, and which can be referenced by other web projects.
Now there are a few implementations out there:
One implementation described by ScottGu which involves building the shared project, and than copying the output aspx into the host project, and referencing the dll of the aspx. This method has the disadvantage that if the apsx gets modified it must been recopied.
Another option, based on David Ebbo's post would be to convert the aspx into ascx-es which can be referenced as custom controls, and than include those custom control aspx-es into the host project inside of some placeholder pages. (This solution seems to be the most promising) But the concerns are: can all apsx pages transformed into an ascx? I mean there's no Page.LoadComplete to give an example.
And yet another option is to use virtual directories that map into the shared webproject, as described in a Microsoft KB article. The problem again with this method is that the shared aspx-es must be in predefined directories(that is the virtual directory). If the name of virtual directory overlaps a physical directory, the virtual overrides it and no pages from the latter can be used. Is it perhaps possible to merge these two together?
I have a Menus user control and depending on which menu item the User clicks, the appropriate page is loaded by setting the hyperlink.NavigateUrl to the appropriate aspx page.I need to use the same page for 2 different menu items but I need to pass a value to the page so I know which data to load into it.Is there a way to pass the menu name or any other value from the usercontrol to the asp.net page?
I have many aspx page includes in my web form. I want to convert them to user controls. Just wanted to confirm whether there is any performance gain in doing so? I have 50 pages in which the aspx page is included.
I have this page, shown below. In the ASCX file, the data is generated using a DataGrid in which a user searches for fields and it displays results based on input criteria. This is using a stored procedure and parameters to perform this search. It then returns the results, populates a datagrid, now my question is how would I go about in my ASPX page having my disk icon allow a user to download a CSV of the data that has been returned in the ASCX page. I obviously need to run a command to generate the CSV file from the database, which I have all the code for, but my question really is how do I know what the user has searched for, or what results were returned I guess best put.
I'm currently converting a set of .aspx pages and the VB code behind them to .ascx and C#.
Basically the system I'm working with validates a shopping basket but with me changing the class the code inherits from I'm having issues working out what I should change it too.
I'm changing from System.Web.UI.Page to System.Web.UI.UserControl and am primarily having problems with the Validator.Add(v) element of the code below:
public override void Validate() { base.Validate(); if (Profile.ShoppingCart == null || Profile.ShoppingCart.Items.Count == 0) { CustomValidator v = new CustomValidator(); v.ErrorMessage = "You must have at least 1 course in your basket."; v.IsValid = false; Validator.Add(v); } }
how can I share one or two aspx file in two separated solution that if i change aspx file in both solution apply changes. Is it possible in visual studio 2008 or in Team foundation server?
