I have used used foollowing code for rewriting.
Global.asax:
<script runat="server">
void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
// Code that runs on application startup
RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);
}
void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
{
routes.Add(
"BlogPost",
new Route("courses/{courcetitle}/#{*courceid}",
new SiteRouteHandler() { PageVirtualPath = "~/courses.aspx" })
);
}
</script>
Page code:
<a href="cources/Microsoft-Technology/#D70632F">Click Here</a>
Its working fine without "#" I am having problem with "#". How can i write "#" in global as well as page.

I have developers working on a site for me, they have told me there is no possible way to re-write the URL so there is no second level category e.g.
Remove "/category" from this URL http://www.somesite.com/category/page.aspx
I understand that page.aspx can simply go in the root folder on the server however I don't want to do this as adding heaps of pages will slow down server load time

Usually I use this code to read a file from beginning to end into a List<> and then I write to a file with the code I have above.It seems that StreamReader/StreamWriter is not possible to use in Global.asax.I simply might wonder how I can convert this code for Global.asax?

Most of the resources on the Internet seems to discuss how to do url rewriting in asp.net. None of them seem to discuss about how to read the rewritten url.For example, I have rewritten:
http://www.test.com/users.aspx?id=12&name=sangam
to
http://www.test.com/profile/12/sangam.aspx
Now in the same page, at some point, I want to get this rewrittern url for the purpose of pointing return url in login link. Now a login link should be:
http://www.test.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/profile/12/sangam.aspx

I built a simple ASP.NET website which has a menu with all the page URLs linked to each menu item. when I click on a menu item the page URL appears in address bar like "http://mywebsite/xyz/webform1.aspx". I would like to hide this page url and instead show only URL of the website like "http://mywebsite" for all pages.if this is too complicated to achieve, then is it possible to show a fake url in place of actual url for each page? I don't want to show the actual page name in the url.

I have a ASP.NET/C# web application. There is an object instantiated in the Global.asax that I'll call g_objVariable. What I would like to do is reference one of it's properties in the ASP.NET page itself, like this.
The g_objVariable's Prop1 value is: <%=AppNameSpace.Global.g_objVariable.Prop1.ToString()%>
I get it to see the reference, but it keeps telling me that due to it's protection level I can't access it. I have it set to 'internal static'. What would be the least level I could set it to, but still allow the page to access it?

In my website users can create thier own websites by making folder of thier choice like: [URL] Where the folders Pankaj and Adam are storing in database. I just want that when user after creting thier website just clicked or type the address of thier website as [URL] then if the folder with name Pankaj exists in database then the page will open otherwise it gives the http 404 page not found error. And while the address [URL] is opens then i donot want to physically create it on server. My requirement is that i want to open it by the concept of url rewriting/ Routing. Which one concept will be good for this. And can anyone provide some code with example that how can i achieve this easily.

I want to write a page where user's can write a blog post and publish it to the blog. I've downloaded blog engine .NET and looked at the code and I like the way they do it, but it's completely an overkill of what I need. What I need is only a title, author, date, and the blog post it self. I don't even want users to post comments or anything like that. My approach is to save all those blog post information into an xml and then when a page loads it loops around those xml files to show the blog post.

I know there is a couple answered questions on here regarding "request scoped" globals, but I want to nit-pick on something specifically and maybe squeeze some extra enlightenment out of one or two of you.I have an ASP.NET C# Website and a static Dictionary of objects (loaded from DB once on Application start). Each page request will need to do a lookup in the Dictionary (based on a key derived from the request url/etc) and get the appropriate object.The issue is I'm trying to maximize efficiency by reducing the lookups to the Dictionary per Request. Doing just a single lookup within a Page itself is easy enough and I can pass the object to sub controls, etc too.. but global.asax is separate from the Page and it also needs to use the object (in Application_BeginRequest and Session_Start).
So is doing a Dictionary lookup once in Application_BeginRequest, once (when necessary) in Session_Start and once in the Page negligible speed wise, even if there are many requests coming in every second?I would like it if I could just have a Request scoped global variable that I can easily call upon.. the only one I see available though is HttpContext.Current.Items and that is a Dictionary itself.Am I beingridiculously nit-picky with my concern over efficiency? or will these milliseconds (nanoseconds?) get me in the long run when more and more requests are being made?
PS. I currently only have around 100 objects in the Dictionary although this may increase in the future.

I am reading in a file into a string. Then I am writing this string to a stream. I know this code works fine.
The only problem that I have is with the line that write the data in chunks where the parameters is not supported for the Write method.
The line that has the problem is this line. What do I need to change here?
OutPut.Write(buffer, 0, Math.Min(to_write, WRITE_CHUNK));

I have a master page called SiteMaster.master
The master page has a content place holder (ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent")
I have a default page (default.aspx) with a VB code behind which pulls some data.
What I'd like to be able to do is write my data to that place holder for example:
<b>theData</b>
This is a simplified example of what I'll be doing but the part I can't figure out is how to write the content directly to the place holder on the master page from the code behind of the default the page.
