Web Forms :: Validate Multiple Text Boxes In GridView?
May 27, 2010
I have an ASP.NET gridview where I allow the user to edit a record. I need to validate multiple fields as one. I need to require that the user either enter a first and last name OR a company name. All three cannot be blank. Most of the sample code I am finding does not address the text boxes only being visible while the gridview is in edit mode. When not in edit mode, the text boxes do not exist so
document.getElementById('<%= editFirstName.ClientID %>') throws an error upon page load.
I've problem with validating all text boxes in PlaceHolder. I made PlaceHolder and I've no idea how to check that all textboxes have integer numbers as a text.
public void Made_Matrix (PlaceHolder Matrix, int Size){ for(int row=0; row < size; row++){ for(int col=0; col < size; col++){ TextBox TB = New TextBox(); Matrix.Controls.Add(TB); TB.ID = TB + Convert.ToString(row) + Convert.ToString(col); TB.AutoPostBack = "true"; } Matrix.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl ("<br/>")); } } public void TB_Validate (PlaceHolder Matrix, int Size){ for (int row = 0; row < size; row++){ for (int col = 0; col < size; col++){ string Ident = TB + Convert.ToString(row) + Convert.ToString(col);
how can i find text hidden in TextBox with ID from Ident? And how to check if it's numeric? I suppose that in .NET there's no function like IsNumeric(), am I right?
I have a about 6 or 7 text boxes which needs to be validated to make sure they are not empty from server side code. So how I usually do this is, check each textbox 1 by 1 to ensure that they are not empty. Are there any other efficient methods to do this? I have searched on SO and have found out that adding all the textboxes to a list and using a for each is a much better method. Are there any other ways that this can be achieved? Thanx a lot in advance :)
Using C# and SQL as the database.I have a page with a gridview and some text boxes and drop down list boxes. A user selects a record from the grid view I query the database and fill the text boxes and drop down list boxes.
Some fields get updated periodincally thus there is no data in those fields in the database until some time.
A strange thing happens.When filling data some text boxes gets a one tab spacing .
I have 50 textboxes in a table and i would like to write a conditonal statement. If the textboxes has null or empty then i want to assign them 0 to all the textboxes.(VB.Net) I tried
I have several text boxes on a page that need to be filled out. When users fill out those boxes they need the ability to enter in bold, italics, superscripts, and trademarks. It has been recommended to use a WYSIWYG. The problem with a WYSIWYG is that it is all tied to 1 large text box. I just need a panel on the side that can hold Bold, Italics buttons to transform whatever text the user has selected to be Bolded/Italicized and then I need to be able to add in predetermined Superscripts and Trademarks where the cursor is as defined by the user. Now this would work with a WYSIWYG but I need this to apply to several (sometimes up to 10 fields on a page) text boxes on a page.
I hope this is in the right sections....if not please feel free to move it. Does anyone here have examples of how to create multiple text boxes dynamically based on a search result? For example A table has 5 rows. how do I output to the screen 5 text boxes? and then get their details later? (so in a week if there are 15 rows in the table , then 15 text boxes are output) also what would be a good search term on Google for this so I can try and find other examples as the search terms i was using returned zip
I am trying to create a form in MVC C# that will allow a user to input a Last Name, First Name, Department, Year and click a Search button that will bring back a list of employees based off the inputted search criteria.My problem is allowing multiple search textbox criteria into one search button. I am able to hardcode values into an html actionlink like below and it works but unable to grab the values from the textboxes.
<%= Html.ActionLink("Results", "Results", new { lastName = "Smith", firstName = "", dept = "", year = "2008" } )%>
I would really just like to have four textboxes and a search button to bring the list back from the database.
I have a custom validator which validates three text boxes. my code is,
[Code]....
I fill in all the three textboxes.it still gives me the error message to fill in all the boxes and does not submit the page even when all the three boxes are filled.
have created a gridview with input text boxes inside which can be added by the user.
So in order to populate the gridview on form load I use grdView.DataSource = PopulateDT(); this.grdView.DataBind();
Now is there a neat way of retriving the data content after the user has entered data from the gridview and store as a datatable. The only way is doing a for next loop which i think its time wasting.
I have a gridview in my aspx form. I have used template column & in that created a table. In the table of the Item template , I am displaying some fields. My requirement is that when I click on any row, the correspoding data should be placed in proper text boxes. Each row in itemtemplate has a unique id called UserId.
i have a grid view and check box in it. and there are 5 columns in it. user name, first name, lastname city and ph no. and 5 text boxes... and a edit button NOW when i check any checkbox and press EDIT button i want the entries in grid view show be entered into text boxes.
Really getting better with VS, but I've mostly been displaying data. I'm on a new project and now and I have a lot of data entry forms to create. I created a form to enter data into an access db and got it working. I thought it would be cool to add an edit button that fired a gridview to load on the same page, under my original forms, so that that they could load up the data and edit or delete mistakes. But when I try to update the gridview, it also tries to post the original forms (text boxes), which fail because there is no data in them, and I get an error.
What is the proper way to handle this in asp.net? I'm sure this is kind of a common issue. I've done some searching, but the search terms, like forms and gridview, are kind of generic and I'm not coming up with anything useful. I just need a more experienced person to point me in the right direction and I'll get it figured out.
I want to check that a user has not entered a date for the from date that is later than the to date and vice versa. Because it gives me an out of range query error if it is!
I am trying to figure out how to get the text value from each textbox on a page that has a dynamically created number of text boxes. I need to store that value in a database row. I guess what i need is to be able to store the text box values in a collection or arrary of some sort and then be able to use textbox(i).value or something of that nature. Not really sure where to begin.
Can any one let me know "How to validate the length of the text present in the textboxes of a Gridview using javascript".
For Example: In a page I am displaying a Gridview with textboxes inside it and a button on the page. The user need to input some text in the textboxes of the gridview and click on "Submit" button. When the user clicks on Submit Button, we need to validate the length of the text present in the textboxes of the gridview. If the length of the text inside the textbox of the gridview is less than 10 , we need to throw an error message. In the same way we need to do validation for each and every textbox inside the gridview.
I have a Dynamic GridView on a page as below. The user can add or delete rows. When inserting record, the code is executed one row at a time. I have 3 rows to be inserted to the database. Here is the issue:
-if the first row is not completed, then no record is added to the database
-if the first row is completed and the second row is not, then only the first row is inserted in the database
-if the first row is completed, the second row is not complete, and the third row is completed, then only the first row is inserted in the database.
How to arrange this piece of code to validate all rows before any insert? or avoid inserting a row if there is one row not complete?the conditions starts with int rowIndex = 0;
I have two text boxes called starttime and endtime which are datetime sqldbtypes that I want to subtract the value to show in a duration label. I know that you can do a subtraction with datediff in t-sql to find the time difference, and I'm wondering if that's the best way to approach this. Here is the code from my default.aspx.vb page:
I'm very new to ASP.NET, how would it be possible to have a complete form with, let's say, 10 text boxes. Once the page is displayed, the user would only see the first textbox. After the user has input data into that box, the second textbox would appear. After data is input into the second textbox, the third textbox would appear and so on. I know it probably has something to do with Postback but I cannot find anything on this scenario.
