Jun 25, 2010
I am new on Asp.net ..so i applogize for asking a very silly question ...
I have a textbox in which i enter a some numbers,the button and a validation control beside
that which check whether the value has been entered or not.On Click event of the button ,if the
textbox is empty then the validation control send me a error .Till now everything is right.From
here my problem starts ..I want to check that the value that has been entered is the number not
the character .If some characters are entered then the validation conrtol must set the error
message to "Invalid Input".How can i acheive this..?

In the code behind based on a condition i want to add a error message to the Validation Control.
I tried the below.
'Call function to add error message.
protected void AddErrorToValidationSummary(string errorMessage)
{
CustomValidator custVal = new CustomValidator();
custVal.IsValid = false;
custVal.ErrorMessage = errorMessage;
custVal.EnableClientScript = false;
custVal.Display = ValidatorDisplay.None;
this.Page.Form.Controls.Add(custVal);

I am creating dropdown controls in code behind. in some conditions I need to add validation control to dropdowlist. But Validation not firing when I submit button.
If mQuestion.RequiredToAnswer = True Then
Dim mValidator As New RequiredFieldValidator
mValidator.ControlToValidate = mDDL.ID
mValidator.InitialValue = mDDL.Items(0).Text
mValidator.Display = ValidatorDisplay.Dynamic
mValidator.ErrorMessage = "* Required!"
mTableCell.Controls.Add(mValidator)
End If
I have other dropdown controls on aspx page with validation comtrols. Those are working fine. Only when I ddl and validations from code not working?

jQuery validation is working fine on my machine, when i pushed it to test server it won't it's throwing some errors which is kind of surprising.These are the errors I am getting: $.validator is null or not an object...I've never gotten this error before and it throwing an error when I declared a variable like var isValid.I don't know what to do. I am doing the custom validation methods not in the document.ready(). Does this cause this error? I wonder because all jquery validations are passing and hitting the server side validations.

I am trying to implement the asychronous email code demonstrated at - [URL] I have copied and pasted the code to my own site so there should be no syntax errors and have spoken to my web provider about SMTP email access which they say is allowed and they advised me to use the following:
Host = localhost
Port = 25
and that SSL should not be checked - I do not have SSL set up yet anyway. When I try to send an email I get the following message - Error occured, info=Failure sending mail. Has anyone ever encountered this before and know how to solve it?

I have what is probably a basic question, but I am rather new to writing exception handling code. I thought I understood the concept, but apparently I don't, heres the code:
[Code]....
If I enter in any non-integer values, the textbox is set to nothing and the label displays the error message. However, now that I have verified the textbox contains an integer, I want to continue on and use that value. The remaining code works fine unless there was an exception, in which case the conversion to an int value for x throws an error.
All the examples I have looked at demos the structure of try-catch-finally, but in this instance I am not performing any clean up, I want to execute code when a valid value is entered into the textbox.

Is there a way to disable request validation on an action without having to add the line <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0"/> to Web.config? I'm currently posting XML to a controller action and get the "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value..." error. Is disabling request validation the only way to get the post to work, or is there some way I can intercept and encode the value that contains XML between the view and the controller action?
