Jun 3, 2010Well, I'm completely baffled by this one.
It seems all Validation and Validation Summary controls across my entire project lost their Red color. Loading an older project, I see the ForeColor is set to Red by default. But the ForeColor properties are all now empty in my new project.
A few weeks ago, all validation controls showed red on the new project but something changed. I've been doing many things to this project, including editing the CSS file. But I have definitely not been editing the ForeColor properties of Validation controls. And no one else has access to the project.
I guess I can go in and set all the ForeColor properties to Red, but there are a lot and, at this point, I don't know if something could clear them again.
I tried searching on this but found nothing. I doubt anyone can help but thought I'd ask if anyone has ever seen anything like this. Is it just a bug?

Jan 25, 2010I have a very simple FormView that has several fields on it. There is a field that either returns a "1" or "0" based on conditions in the database. If the value is "1", I want to leave the label control as is (normal font, in black). However, if the value is "0" I want to change the font to bold and change the forecolor to red. Simple, right?
I am able to change the font-bold property using the code below, but if I use the code to attempt to change the font color, I get the following error message for this line:
An exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in App_Web_hoge3m1x.dll but was not handled in user code
Additional information: Specified cast is not valid.

Forms Data Controls :: Exception Thrown In Gridview But No Indication In GUI?
Mar 9, 2010An exception is thrown in the gridview because the database was not updated with the latest stored procedure. This is no uncommon situation, right?
The problem is that I have to debug to see the exception. If a just run the project everything looks fine (except that the grid never is loaded).
I want the application to crash hard when exceptions are thrown. How can I accomplish this?

Aug 4, 2010I know that variations of this same question have been posed numerous times - but I can't quite seem to find the exact solution.
I would like any row in my gridview where the boolean field "Approved" is True to be shaded gray. Here is the code that I'm using, but every row ends up being gray, regardless of the value in that "Approved" field. My guess is that I'm not correctly evaluating the boolean value in this field (which is actually a yes/no field in MS Access), Not sure if I should be reading that value as "-1", "Yes" or "True" or "NotNull"? Anyway, here is the code:

Mar 25, 2011I'm trying to use a field validator to make sure one of my list boxes has a selection before the user is able to proceed to the next page. i'm having is that if the validation message is triggered, all of the buttons on my page loose functionality.Meaning, if I purposely trigger the validation control, I can't get rid of the error message and none of my buttons do anything when clicke after this.

May 10, 2010i am working on web-form for which I have set the validation summary showmessagebox = "true".
I have two required field validators, which trigger on a checkbox's OnCheckedChanged event....now my problem is, when I hit submit, the page does not submit if I do not enter any values in the text boxes..which is correct behavior but it does not point out to the error or does not display the message box.
i have to scroll up to see what is wrong with he page and then try to enter the values...I do not understand why my message box does not show up or at least why my setfocusonerror which is set to true does
not show me the text boxes...

Feb 9, 2010i am using the required field validation and Reqularexpressioncontrol in gridview. Fields are in the gridview are in template, but only the edit button it is not templeted, this edit buton is of type Imagebutton and same goes with canel and update.
1_ Do i have to use the Templeted fields for edit/cancel/ and update as well in order to use the validation?
2_Validaiotn should only work when user clicks on the Update button, it should not trigger when cancel button fired.

Aug 20, 2010I'm having trouble accomplishing the above. Below is all the mark up and code. I'm not getting error messages, but the validate image function is not working (fileupload portion is working ok).
In my attempt below---not sure if it's the simplest or best validation approach anyway---the "UserId" parameter appears during rendering to be empty---but in most methods I have it successfully containing or referring to the logged-in user's identification.

Feb 24, 2011I created some required field validators and a validation summary control. When I get an error it displays next to the control its validating and also inside the validation summary control. I only want the error to display in one place; inside the validation summary control. I tried making the required field validator invisible but then it didn't display anywhere.How can I get the errors to only display in the validation summary control? There is no need to display them twice it just clutters up the page.

Jan 7, 2010It seems to me that any method of input I provide for a user needs some scrutiny, but I have never seen someone implement a single set of validation that all inputs must pass.
Is there some basic validation you do on every single field a user can type in to? For the sake of simplicity let's just talk about text boxes.
Do you add any code to watch for control characters?

Jan 31, 2011I have a form in MVC3 that includes a check box to copy data if it is the same as a previous form. If the checkbox is checked, it populates the text box with the content from the hidden field. Here's a sample to illustrate what I'm doing:

When the box is checked, it calls FillInfo(), which uses DHTML to fill the TextBox called "ThisInfo" with the value of the hidden field "DefaultInfo."
Here's the problem: if the form fails validation (e.g. "ThisInfo" is a required field and is left blank), the hidden "DefaultInfo" box is getting cleared out -- which I DON'T want it to do. As a result, when the checkbox is clicked, it is copying empty data into the "ThisInfo" field.
LinkButton Not Working Due To Validation Control Field?
Apr 1, 2010In my .aspx page which derives from a master page I have a contact form which uses some validation, such as the RequiredFieldValidator and RegularExpressValidator.At top of my page I have a link bar and whenver I am at contact.aspx I can't navigate to the other pages as if that I need to fill in the necessary data so that it satisfies the validator. How can I fix this?
