I'm sure I need to use a view model for this so I can get two sets of models in one view, but I'm not sure how to set up the view model.

When i went through, all the approaches are to extract images and text entirely from the PDF on not in a specified location. I tried with iTextSharp,Syncfussion,Apose but couldn figure out a better approach for this.

Oct 20, 2010I have Asp.Net MVC project where I have added area for admin. In the root I have ContentTemplates folder where I have .tt generators for views and they work fine. But when I add view in the ~/areas/admin the views are using default MVC content generators and not my. I decided to add folder with my custom ContentTemplates to ~/areas/admin folder but anyway it uses default MVC contentTamplates.Did anybody this before - I mean using contentTemplates in Areas? If yes then I will check all things again..

The page count is set to 10, when the user checks the checkbox(es), I will need to insert those records in a table. How will I know which row was selected? I found an example (untried) that is designed to loop through and insert the necessary records; but it does not address inserting records based on selecting rows via a checkbox. How do I put everything together.

MVC :: Rendering Area Partial View From External Dll
Nov 25, 2010I am quite new to MVC and am gradually overcoming all my 'but WebForms can do that' issues but I still have one. I wish to have components which I can deploy into an Area in order to keep things nice and tidy. This area will have a bunch of re-usable partial views like this. MyArea/Views/Shared/MyAreaControl.ascx I can render this MyAreaControl partial view fine in other Views inside that area but it fails when I try to render it from a not inside the area (e.g. view in the root of the site). I am essentially using this syntax
<% Html.RenderPartial("MyAreaControl", new { area = "MyArea" }); %>
which seems to only look for this partial view inside the root Views folder, not the area one despite me specifying the area. Is this a restriction of the system, a bug - or am I just doing it wrong. ADDENDUM: Turns out it appears to be an assembly issue. My controller is found in a separate assembly from my MVC Application. Doing a bit of fiddling with moving my control inside and outside of the area and the separate dll I came to the following confusion:
- If partial view is in its own area and the controller is part of the MVC application dll - I can render it from my home view
- If partial view is not in its own area and the controller is part of an external dll I can render it from my home view
- If partial view is not in its own area and the controller is part of the MVC application dll - I can render it from my home view
- If partial view is in its own area and the controller is part of an external dll I CANNOT render it from my home view
The controller for path '/' was not found or does not implement IController.

Jul 2, 2010GridViewDetails uses templatefields. In edittemplate I put a button called "ButtonUpdateAdjustAmount" with OnClick="Update_AdjustAmount" in the EditItemTemplate for the "Amt to be Adj" column. There is also a textbox. My user's should be able to edit the textbox, but I also want the ability to click the button and the textbox populated with the correct calculated value. The formula varies based on the "code" column which is a dropdownlist called "DropListCode".
I am fairly new to asp.net, vb, etc...so forgive my code writing. Eventually I need to also put the same functionality on the insertrow for my gridview. But first wanted to get the edit one working. I am using templatefields for all columns and the FooterTemplate to perform the Insert New Detail Line.
I can get the functionality to work for the first data row and only if I take out the If code.SelectedValue = ... line and leave 1 static formula. However that isn't going to work. If DropListCode.SelectedValue is DNR then AdjAmt should be ((q_ordered - q_received) * cost). If DropListCode. SelectedValue is OV then AdjAmt should be (RKNumber * cost). If DropListCode.SelectedValue is NB the AdjAmt should be ((q_received - q_ordered) * cost). If DropListCode.SelectedValue is DAM then AdjAmt should be (RKNumber * cost)

Sep 22, 2010I have a grid view that needs to be shown group wise. The grouping of the data should be dynamic and that is based on the column that is selected.
In general it should list all the rows and based on the coloumn header selected, all the rows should group by that column and should be listed under it. That also needs the template column for the check box and while group by there should be a check all option available for each group.
Even having the collapse and expand option for each groups is required.
I currently use VS 2005 and later will use 2008 and 2010, but will use the aspx code and not xaml.
