Web Forms :: WebConfiguration Failed To Map '/'?

I am using the following code to load a custom web config file:
WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration("~");
Just a few weeks ago, it was working fine. But now when it calls this line, I get a configuration error, "Failed to map path '/'"It's not project specific because I have another project with the same line and it fails with the same error.I've tried running VS as Administrator and still get the same results.My development environment is Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008.Something on my PC must have changed but I can't figure out what.

I am runnign the SQL 2005 with Membership structure and two web-applications on the same server box. Each web application uses its own Application Name in aspnet_Applications table. There are two application names.
The users from web-app1 could not login to web-app2. Each web-apps uses different Application Pool. Each providers section of Membersip use correct applicationName from aspnet_Applications. The first application is working correct.
The problem is that sometimes the users could not login to web-application 2 during day. I get error Event code: 4006 Event message: Membership credential verification failed. The users start to login again after I Recycle - Stop - Start Application Pool of this web application.

I am trying to add Failed Request Tracing to my IIS 7/ASP.NET server.
First, I create failed request tracing for "all content, error codes 400-999" because want to save all errors.
Then, I try to create a trace for "all content, time: 5 seconds" because I want to trace all "long" requests. However, IIS 7 gives me an error: "A failed request trace for this content already exists".How can I add this second trace for all content that takes > 5 seconds?

I am having crystal report nto my application. By using report document I am trying to export the report into pdf. But while trying that I am getting the exception "property evaluation failed" but the report is exporting. I want to know how to avoid that exception. So far I googled for that exception, I got some idea about calling response.end internally. But yet its not clear to me. I am giving some code sample here:

Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
I add this to webconfig and it works

why does it work and what an earth is this error as it makes no sense to me. it is to do with sessions.

I am using sql membership table to create users and role allocation etc. it is working absolutely fine.now i have added webparts in page which also working good but when i click to minimize the webparts it gives me below error. My question is I have sql membership table in my database then webparts is using mdf files from app data.

I have simply created two aspx pages for testing purpose, Page1.aspx and Page2.aspx.
Page1.aspx code is as follows:

Now,when i run Page1.aspx and press the button i am getting this error. Can anyone tell me why this error is occuring ?

I have a web application, which sends email to list of around 50000 emails.Some of the emails are not correct and as a result user receives failure notifcation in its mail box.
I want to capture the failed receipients to be captured by my web application. How can I do that?
I am using System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient class to send email. I am using sendAsync method to sen email.

I have hosted a website with database using windows server, when I run normal pages are running the data stored are being fethched and can be seen but for edit,save and delete button it gives error below

Anyone has experence with "Validation of viewstate MAC failed" issue while using Google Chrome? We have a customer having specific issue with Chrome. It's the strangest thing. In IE and Firefox, the problem does not exist, but once Google Chrome is used instead, he gets the error.

When running our web application the following message appears:
Failed to convert parameter value string to decimal. We believe that the problem might be with the sequence which generates the user_id. The user_id should be the output after successful insert of record. The stored procedure works well from within the DB and Visual Studio. I am having a small problem with my links on the master page. I have inserted 5 link buttons on my masterpage. In every link, I have set the PostBackUrl to the corresponding page. In the link click event, I have also written the C# coding: Response.Redirect(). When I run the homepage (that is using the masterpage as a template) and click on one of the link, I get this error: Validation of viewstate MAC failed.....

I created a web site in ASP.NET 2005 and I am trying to add a web service located on another server. I can call manualy from IE the web service by pasting the URL below. I can type USER ID & PASSWORD and when I click INVOKE I get approval. When I try to add web refence to my web site for using web service I get error "The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad request: request-line invalid." and I cannot add reference. [URL] What could be the problem?
