i tried adding reference of system.windows.forms dll to my web site. But it is not getting added. If i add a reference of a dll of another project inside the assembly that gets added. Is it not possible to add reference of a system dll in website?
View 1 RepliesWhen you use ASP.NET web site (instead of web application model) and add reference to an assembly from local folder, Visual Studio, it seems, understands that this local assembly is also in GAC and so does NOT copy this assembly to bin folder (as it does with non-GAC assemblies), but simply adds new record in web.config file.
Why such a behaviour? Is it possible to force copy to bin folder (I need this since .dll is not on target environment)? I can add assembly to bin folder as file and it will work, but in this case bin folder contents will be in source control, which is not good.
i hav e1 drop down list where is is to filter shif code , ddl text field contaoins shift desc and value contains shift code.
when i select particular shift description it has to show all the 7 days shift description on text boxes iam using informix database
i have 1 dropdownlist which contains shiftcode & shift decription. where shift code is datavalue filed and desc is dat text field. ddl is conected to sql datasource.
i am getting this error:

View 1 RepliesI have an ASP.NET project and I want to use some AjaxToolKit Extenders on my pages.
The site is created in VS2010, set to Framework 4.0.
This is what I did:
1) Add reference "AjaxToolKit.dll" to my project.
2) Add to the toolbar the same file for the controls
3) Add "ToolkitScriptManager" to the page source.
This adds the declaration to the source as well.
Right after this I get the following error:
Reference required to assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' containing the base class 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager'. Add one to your project.
Does anyone know what could be the reason I am not able to add reference to System.Web. It gives an exclamation(!) symbol in front of the dll under reference folder in VS 1020. I wand to refer to System.Web.Security.MembershipProvider class.
View 1 RepliesWe recently migrated from VS 2008 to VS 2010. The migration went fine, except for our web project. Before, in VS 2008, the site showed up as http://localhost/Website. Now, it appears as C:...Website. It appears that when we did the migration, VS started to treat it as a file system website.
I've tried removing the existing site and re-adding it as an existing website, but it still displays it as C:...Website. Is there any way to convert it back to show it as a http://localhost/website, and run through IIS, as opposed to the default ASP.NET Development Server?
I have downloaded Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and am trying to use LINQ. In order to do that I have added a LINQ to SQL class to the web site and have dragged tables from the database view into the LINQ designer, which worked fine.But..When I add: using System.Data.Linq;to MainPage.xaml.cs, I receive an error:

I want to use the DataContractJsonSerializer class. This is contained within theSystem.Runtime.Serialization.Json namespace and the System.ServiceModel.Web dll.or some reason, when I add the using directive for the namespace, Visual Studio says it doesn't recognise the Json namespace in System.Runtime.Serialization.When I try to add the System.ServiceModel dll, nothing happens, which suggests to me it's already referenced. (Because nothing also happens when I try to add a reference to System.Web which is definitely referenced!)

When the value is Nothing/null for the reference variable, that means it is not actually holding a reference to an instance of any object that exists on the heap. What i want is , sending a pdf attachment to these mails everyday when time is 10.30 PM and 06.00 AM . I've a function which creates pdf attachment. I've also a function which sends e-mail.
How can i always check if it's time for sending a mail or not ?

View 4 RepliesWe have a web site that sits on a DotNetNuke platform and all of our coded modules are written in VB.Net for consistency. However, we have been sent a web page that works as a link and it is written in C# and references a cs file in its App_Code folder. If we try and load this into our website we get an error saying that it is not written in VB we then tried converting the homepage to VB but the reference folder is very complex and written in C#. Can we load the reference file even though it is C# and reference it using VB code. The current all is OurRemService RemService = New OurRemService(); where OurRemService is a file in the App_Code folder in the web page folder. The only other way around this is for us to set it up in IIS as a virtual directory and reference it directly but we would prefer to integrate it into our website.

Our web reference does not seem to be defined in web.config of the website that consumes it. I found that there is a configuration file called "Reference.map" in the "Web References" folder that looks editable, but when I edit them nothing happens. I even renamed the WSDL file in the folder to see if it would get a new one. It did not.
Do I have to do a build just to change the URL of a referenced Web Service?

View 1 RepliesI have a vs2008 Website project(it was converted from vs2005), when i right click the Website node in the solution and open the property page, i select the references link, then click add reference to Oracle.DataAccess.dll(11g, 64bits), Version=2.112.2.0 in the website BIN directory, it doesn't work, i don't see the Oracle.DataAccess.dll is added, Can you give me any advice why the website project can not add the Oracle.DataAccess.dll ? And I can add rOracle.DataAccess.dll to my other Web Application project, what difference between Website project and Web applicatoin project caused the issue? Since i can not add the Oracle.DataAccess.dll , when i compile, it gave the error:
