I want to change the value in a cookie: HttpCookie hc = new HttpCookie("HiddenColumns"); hc.Value = customView.HiddenFields; hc.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddDays(365); Response.SetCookie(hc);
And I want to change the cookie that is also named "theme", at the end of this WebMethod. How can I accomplish that? The cookie has to be set here, not through JavaScript. That is a requirement.
I would like to change ASP.NET session cookie name "ASP.NET_Sessionid" to some other name. I specified <sessionState cookieName="MyCookieName" />. When I use fiddler to view response header, I can see "MyCookieName" with random generated number under cookie section, however, ASP.NET_SessionId also exist there.
I am working on an ASP.Net web application running on framework 2.0. I have values stored in users cookie. During testing when the cookie value has been changed the asp.net runtime error page gets displayed.I have custom error mode set to On but somehow this error dosent get redirected. Can anyone tell me what I need to do/set for the custom error page to get displayed in this scenario?
Runtime ErrorDescription: An application error occurred on the server. The current customerror settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewableon remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config"configuration file located in the root directory of the current webapplication. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attributeset to "Off".
I use cookie to change the language of my website.
When I click a LinkButton to change the language for first time it works but the other button doesn't work to change the language . I should delete cookie to change the language.
I use ASP.NET Form Authentication method in my project to keep login information as user id in user's cookie like the below code. It works well without any problem.
But the problem occurs when user use automatic login and then he change his password. In some site, I see it will force you to re-login when you change password. It's quite easy for forcing current page to log out and re-login again.
But I don't find any nice idea for forcing other auto-login cookie in other browser to login again. I have some quite ugly idea for doing that but I don't like it.
Keep latest change password date in user data.
Put it in authentication cookie like the following code.
I am busy building a shopping cart with cookies. I have datalist which I populate from the cookies with a delete button next to each cookie
[Code]....
Now the problem is that when I hit the delete / remove button to expire the cookie, what happens when repopulating the datalist is that it shows the original cookie with all it's values as well as a new entry where all the values are blank.
I'm trying to use a webservice that first expects the clients to login, to retrieve a cookie to re-use. This is done through a login(string user, string pass) method on the webservice.
Doing this through a browser works fine, we get a cookie, and we can see the cookie via Fiddler or whatvever proxysniff thingy.
Time to do the same in ASP.Net, so we use the WSDL and generate a nice proxy class, and it works fine to call the login() method, but Never Ever does a cookie get set !
I already used the "cookiejar" technique - which means i create an instance of a CookieContainer and assign it to the proxyclass like this;
using vs2008 writing a asp.net.vb application. I have a datasource on my asp page wich is connected to a gridview. I want to use a cookie value as an input parameter to a stored procedure whose ouput will populate the gridview.
I am a bit baffled here; using IE7, ASP.NET 2.0 and Cassini (the VS built-in web server; although the same thing seems to be true for "real" applications deployed in IIS) I am looking for the session-id-cookie. My test page shows a session id (by printing out Session.SessionId) and Response.Cookies.Keys contains ASP.NET_SessionId. So far so good.
But I cannot find the cookie in IEs cookie-store! Nor does "remove all cookies" reset the session (as it does in FF)... So where - I am tempted to write that four letter word - does IE store that bloody cookie? Or am I missing something? By the way there is no hidden field with a session id either, as far as I can see. If I check in FF there is a cookie called ASP.NET_SessionId as I would expect. And as mentioned above deleting that cookie does start a new session; as I would expect.
I have a GridView with an alternating Css style. The GridView has a column called tradeId. What I want to show is an alternating colour based on a change in the tradeId. Is this possible? It will make it easier on the eye to group trades together by colour. Here's the GridView code as it is right now:
How to change the values in gridview on text change of templated control without databind again?the value of templated text boxes should change If i change the value of one of the templated textbox then accordingly(By mathematical calculations) the vlaues of all tempated textboxes should also change.
When i run the following code i get an error when gridview changes mode to Edit. stating that you can't change string to decimal!
To get around the occurance i want to disable code when in Edit mode or resolve another way?
GridView1_RowDataBound For Each row As GridViewRow In GridView1.Rows Dim cell As TableCell = row.Cells(7) Dim invoicetotal As Decimal = CDec(cell.Text)
I wanna set a default value in dropdown list when i change in list.....e.g.
I have a dropdown which i have placed in Gridview templates and there is another dropdown jst above that grid....i want...when i change in above dropdown and select a value from that...then that value should be apply in below gridview's dropdown...
As i am selecting 'A' then Gridview's All Dropdowns default value should set 'A'
I have a gridview in which I have several editable fields. The user wants a non-editable field to be modified if another field is modified in the same row. e.g. if Age>=65, Status should ="Retired"
I am using the following demo: [URL]
to create a bulk edit gridview so some columns are automatically editable and others aren't, with a single update button. I can set Status="Retired" in the xml generated, or as a rule in database table. But I'd like the status field in the gridview to change when Age is modified and to be shown to user before they press the single Update button. I'm using update panels and ajax on the page also.
give me an example (or point me in the right direction) on how to store custom data in an ASP.NET Membership cookie? I need to add some custom properties like UserID and URLSlug to the cookie and be able to retrieve the information in the same way one would retrieve the Username.
Edit:
I used Code Poet's example and came up with the following.
When I set a breakpoint at Dim SerializedUser As String = SerializeUser(userData) the value of userData is right. It has all the properties I expect it to have.
The problem I'm now running into is that when I get to Dim userdata As String = authTicket.UserData (breakpoint), the value is "". I'd love to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Here's the code.
Imports System Imports System.Web Imports System.Web.Security Namespace Utilities.Authentication Public NotInheritable Class CustomAuthentication Private Sub New() End Sub Public Shared Function CreateAuthCookie(ByVal userName As String, ByVal userData As Domain.Models.UserSessionModel, ByVal persistent As Boolean) As HttpCookie Dim issued As DateTime = DateTime. Now ''# formsAuth does not expose timeout!? have to hack around the ''# spoiled parts and keep moving.. Dim fooCookie As HttpCookie = FormsAuthentication.GetAuthCookie("foo", True) Dim formsTimeout As Integer = Convert.ToInt32((fooCookie.Expires - DateTime.Now).TotalMinutes) Dim expiration As DateTime = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(formsTimeout) Dim cookiePath As String = FormsAuthentication.FormsCookiePath Dim SerializedUser As String = SerializeUser(userData) Dim ticket = New FormsAuthenticationTicket(0, userName, issued, expiration, True, SerializedUser, cookiePath) Return CreateAuthCookie(ticket, expiration, persistent) End Function Public Shared Function CreateAuthCookie(ByVal ticket As FormsAuthenticationTicket, ByVal expiration As DateTime, ByVal persistent As Boolean) As HttpCookie Dim creamyFilling As String = FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(ticket) Dim cookie = New HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, creamyFilling) With { _ .Domain = FormsAuthentication.CookieDomain, _ .Path = FormsAuthentication.FormsCookiePath _ } If persistent Then cookie.Expires = expiration End If Return cookie End Function Public Shared Function RetrieveAuthUser() As Domain.Models.UserSessionModel Dim cookieName As String = FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName Dim authCookie As HttpCookie = HttpContext.Current.Request.Cookies(cookieName) Dim authTicket As FormsAuthenticationTicket = FormsAuthentication.Decrypt(authCookie.Value) Dim userdata As String = authTicket.UserData Dim usersessionmodel As New Domain.Models.UserSessionModel usersessionmodel = DeserializeUser(userdata) Return usersessionmodel End Function Private Shared Function SerializeUser(ByVal usersessionmodel As Domain.Models.UserSessionModel) As String Dim bf As New Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter() Dim mem As New IO.MemoryStream bf.Serialize(mem, usersessionmodel) Return Convert.ToBase64String(mem.ToArray()) End Function Private Shared Function DeserializeUser(ByVal serializedusersessionmodel As String) As Domain.Models.UserSessionModel Dim bf As New Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter() Dim mem As New IO.MemoryStream(Convert.FromBase64String(serializedusersessionmodel)) Return DirectCast(bf.Deserialize(mem), Domain.Models.UserSessionModel) End Function End Class End Namespace Here's where I create all the magic. This method is in a "BaseController" class that inherits System.Web.Mvc.Controller Protected Overrides Function CreateActionInvoker() As System.Web.Mvc.IActionInvoker If User.Identity.IsAuthenticated Then ''# this if statement will eventually also check to make sure that the cookie actually exists. Dim sessionuser As Domain.Models.UserSessionModel = New Domain.Models.UserSessionModel(OpenIdService.GetOpenId(HttpContext.User.Identity.Name).User) HttpContext.Response.Cookies.Add(UrbanNow.Core.Utilities.Authentication.CustomAuthentication.CreateAuthCookie(HttpContext.User.Identity.Name, sessionuser, True)) End If End Function And here's how I try and retrieve the info. Dim user As Domain.Models.UserSessionModel = CustomAuthentication.RetrieveAuthUser
I want to create a flash swf file that will store a token in Local Shared Object. What do I need to do to read that token and look it up in the database on the back end? Is this possible at all? here is a possible scenario:
User visits my web page. A token is generated on the server and stored in the database. Token is then saved in LSO. User leaves the site (maybe shuts down his computer) and comes back later. Token is read, located in the database and the user is recognized (lets say that token is a foreign key that links to other user data stored in the db). I researched this for quite a while and all I find is that flash can use LSO to store read data for flash movie. Does this mean that the data can not be accessed by the server?
I thought the .ASPXAUTH was for user authentication? Can anyone confirm if this cookie is indeed a security risk and/or contains session information? Is it even suppose to be used or is it some debug thing?
(i) I have a simple application where I am getting data from a textbox and storing it in a cookie. I noticed that unless I set the Autopostback value of the textbox to TRUE, nothing is stored. Does anyone know why this is the case?
