So when i select "Yes" from the first drop down, the "hiddenDetail" label becomes visible and when i select "No" from q1 the "hiddenDetail" label becomes invisible.The problem is that because i am using AutoPostBack when you select "No" the "hiddenDetail" loses its children (i.e. the label inside it) which is obvious why but i am wondering, is there anyway i can make the "hiddenDetail" invisible (sort of like display:none in style) in VB without losing its children. Web Forms :: The Serverside Event For The Button Is Not Triggered And PostBack Is False
Nov 18, 2010I have a problem with the ASP FileUpload control. It occurs in Safari and on websites where anonymous authentication is disabled and windows authentication is enabled.
When I select a file in the upload-control and then press an ASP-button the serverside event for the button is not triggered and PostBack is false.
Steps to reproduce the error:
1. Create a page with a file upload and a button. Print a message in the page's load event so you can see that if postback is true or false
2. Open IIS-manager and Add a new application that points to the folder where the page is
3. Disable Anonymous Authentication, ASP.NET Impersonation and Forms Authentication for the application
7. Enable Windows Authentication for the application
8. Browse to the page with Safari
9. Select a file with the upload control
10. Press Ok. Postback is false
If you then enable anonymous authentication on the web application and restart the browser postback works as expected.
Controls - Textbox Will Not Postback On Textchanged If Set To False On Pageload?
Jan 31, 2011I have a textbox with a regex validator attached to it and some stuff in the ontextchanged code behind. This all works fine unless I start the textbox out with Visible=false. Obviously, I'm setting the textbox.Visible to true later on in the codebehind, but when I do this, no postback occurs when the text changes. I'm pretty sure I have isolated the cause to when I change the visible property, but has anyone seen anything like this or know some sort of work around?

When I click on the ImageButtons in one of my GridView's the ImageButtons cause the ServerValidate event of two CustomValidators to fire. The server-side OnClick event of the ImageButton never fires. I have verified that the ImageButton(s) have CausesValidation="False" - what could be causing the validators to fire?

May 26, 2010Why when a control does contain value but it's set to .Enable=False that all controls become disable (that's ok) but why that the ViewState doesn't retain the data on the next post back? If I get the UserControl without modifing its Enable state, the ViewState work between post back.
How can we disable a UserControl that all its control become disable (this part work) but all of them KEEP use the ViewState (this doesn't work)?
Clarification:
1)In the aspx.cs click button EDIT:
myControl.Enabled = false;
//This produce to have all controls in myControl to be disabled.
2)In the asp.cs: click Save to leave the EDIT state:
myControl.Enabled = true;
//This produce that all controls inside myControl are blank : no viewstate!
Other postback works because we do not put myControl.Enable to false.
Forms Data Controls :: Displaying Data In A Grid View Control When Set A Row To Visible = False
Aug 23, 2010I have a problem displaying data in a Grid View control when set a row to visible = false when a certain condition is true.
For example, if a DataRowData value has a condition set to true (custom in table) I set the visible property to false, so the data row will not be visible at run time.
The problem is that I'm using paging (10 rows per page) and if 8 of those rows fall into the true condition that won't show the row, that grid view page will only show two rows of data in page 1. The worst scenario is that if I go to page 2 of the grid view and all the rows (10) fall into the true condition, that grid view page will not show any data at all.
How can I show 10 rows of data at all times in a gridview? In other words, I would like to just show the visible rows at all times.

Feb 8, 2010I have a web application that shows a page containing between 6 and 20 AJAX UpdatePanels, contained with Custom Web (.ascx) Controls.

The problem I'm getting is that when the user FIRST clicks any of the radio-buttons on any of the controls in the page, ALL the radio buttons that have an active selection ALSO fire an rb_CheckChanged event (see application log below). On subsequent radio-button
clicks, only that RB fires the event (as expected).
This behaviour is having a dramatic impact on performance. The page loads quickly, and a "normal" RB click provides an AJAX update correctly within 1 second. The problematic first RB click, however, takes up to SIX seconds to process, which is unacceptable from a user experience standpoint.
Developed in VS.NET 2008, ASP.NET 3.5. Also I converted the "Web Site" solution to a "Web Application" (pre-compiled) and got the same performance (still too slow). Release builds run only marginally faster than debug builds.
Why would a single RB selection change cause all RB's that have a "selection" set on them to also fire? (The "selection" is determined through database settings every time the control is populated, which is called from within the parent page control's Page_Load function. This selection is determined also at first page load, since all the controls get populated then, so why would the clicking of an RB cause them all to fire an event, and only once? That's what I don't get...)
Not sure if this is an AJAX issue, or general ASP.NET UI issue, so I'm posting in two forums on this one.

Apr 23, 2010I have a tab which loads a usercontrol dynamically and this usercontrol has 2 other usercontrols. One on the left loading treeviewA and one on the right treeviewB.I am using update panel for aspx and the ascx too. But, I am not able to control to page state and moreover when I click on one control, it get its child item, by the time I click on other control, it would refresh other control too and will lose its value.I am using below code in aspx and I have embeded update panels in usercontrols too

Aug 19, 2010I created a ASP.Net page with dynamic controls. These controls are added by the user. In the Page_Load event a table is created with few controls.
When these dynamic controls do a postback, I can't get the values of these controls, because in my HTML code they are not available.
I only get the id of the control which triggers the postback. But I can't find it with the command FindControl. All other controls, which a are not added dynamicly are searchable.

Sep 11, 2010I'm having a little problem with my file uploading. Does anybody know how to maintain the value in the FileUpload control between server posts?
I have a form which, among other things, uploads a file. I am using an ileUpload control (created dynamically) to let a user browse their PC for a file and then using the SaveAs method to upload the file to the server.When I'm selecting a file and Click on Next button for processing then selected file is lost.
Same is happening with me with HtmlTextArea (dynamically generated) , the problem was that I was not again re-initializing the controls after postback. What I did is re-initialized it in Init method of placeholder (as I have created/placed all dynamic controls in placeholder ).
But this thing is not working for fileupload control. I found solution in one of the forum is that "use hiddenField Control to transfer the selected file from the client to server"but this mechanism will only help to retain the name of file
in a hidden variable and the FileUpload1.PostedFile.SaveAs(filename) will not work bcz of absense of object (fileupload1).
