I am newbie to asp.net I have a html table with 3 fields,
Scheme Name : Sample Scheme
sl_no dividend date dividend %
1 2/1/2009 26
2 2/5/2010 22
3 2/1/2010 23
The associated db table dividend_master should get updated like this:
sch_name dividend_no dividend_date dividend_per
Sample Scheme 1 2/1/2009 26
Sample Scheme 2 2/5/2010 22
Sample Scheme 3 2/1/2010 23

I would like to store some business flags (like: isFavorite, isOnLive etc.) per an html table row that won't be visible to user.
In practice, I have a simple ADO.Net DataTable on my code-behind which is used as a data-source for a asp.Net GridView control.
This table contains some business flags on its 0th, 1st, 2nd columns.
I need to store those columns on the rendered HTML of the grid-view -so that I can reach them via JavaScript- but I do not want them to be visible.

Currently, I am working with ASP.NET MVC1 and am still learning about Model Binding and how values from a View are passed back to the Controller / Model. Specifically, I want take an existing Model, create a Table and populate the Rows of the Table, allow the user to edit some fields and pass it back. In my example, I have a Class called "Ingredient" which has 4 public accessories: Name, Barcode, Amount, and Unit.

I created a aesthetic control that creates two lists in seperate div tags organized with a table for each. The control always the user to click on the img tag associated with each item to move it between the two lists. I am doing all the movement between the lists via javascript and want to have a good method for obtaining the values and storing them in two lists upon Postback. I thought of doing something like storing the indexes/classes in hidden values and them reading them to find the items but that seems messy. Also, thought there might be a clever way of traversing the DOM via FindControl() but not sure. Any input would be great.
One other thing is that this is not a composite control. All the tags are being rendered in the RenderContents() method. So I don't know if there is a way to even tack on a runat="server" attribute to an elem like I normally would if I wanted code behind access to an html element.
Here is the HTML that is generated. I don't think there is need to post the server side code since it does nothing more than generate the html at this point.

I am fairly new to ASP.Net and web programming in general and I am having issues trying to add values from a dropdown list in my gridview to another table.
Here is my scenario. I have 2 tables in my SQL Express DB. When editing the values of table2 in a gridview, I would like to show some data from table1 in a dropdown so users can select a value from table 1 and enter that value in table 2.
I have the Gridview setup to show table2 data.
I created a field template and inserted my dropdown list and linked it to my table1 data source.
When I run my web form, I can click to edit one of the fields in the gridview, and my dropdown list correctly displays the data from table 1, but when I try to update the table2 with the dropdown value, it doesn't correctly update. The row in table2 never updates.
posting the dropdown value from table 1 into the appropriate field in table2..
Again, I am new to this and have been following the tutorials etc on this site, but can't find one pertaining to this topic.

i have create a small program that upload a document to a file path and then convert it to an html doc in whith it create me an html file and a folder with the same name that include the style of the document and photos if in the original document they are any photos.
what i want to know is if we upload the document and they are photos when i click on the html file that is been create i can see the photos, but when i include the html file in my asp.net code i can not see the photos and only the text document is been show.

I am facing a problem in converting RTF files into HTML form. The library converts the RTF form but the formatting disturb because there is much difference between RTF document formatting and HTML form formatting. e.g if the size of the text on RTF file is 12 and the 12 of HTML form is different than RTF.

In 95% of cases, this HTML will be enclosed in <DIV> with a "size:auto".I have seen a few examples that contain the browser control but all of them need a width/height specification.Basically, what I am looking for is the ability to let my user make part of an HTML document and encapsulate that HTML in an image for later viewing.

This code works only in HTML format. This means that I can not select standard components: "Inserting an ASP.NET control will convert the HTML form in the page to an ASP.NET form and remove its current properties. Do you want to insert the ASP.NET control?"

i have two tables which are related (school and departments). school_table (school_id, school_name) and department (dept_id, dept_name, school_id). page 1 creates the school - i take school name via textbox and school_id is auto generated in database. so informatics = 1, science = 2, etc page2 creates department - i take department name via textbox, dept_id is auto generated, and now i need a way to take school_id from this page to create the relationships (so we know which department belongs to which school). however, i don't really want the user to enter school Id that gets auto generated in the schools_table, instead i want to create a drop down list and populate it with the school_name values taken from page one. but these drop down values should represent an int value behind the scene since it needs to go to school_id (department_table) but how can i convert the drop down values from string to int so that if i enter informatics from drop down the value will be 1 in the school_id column?

I have a problouw with a listview connected to a object datasource, when I try to edit a record and hit the save button without changing anything I got a error : Cannot convert value of parameter 'BirthDate' from 'System.String' to 'System.DateTime' The birthdatevalue is presented in a masked textbox, my data access layer is not reached so the error is in the listview itself How can I edit date values in a listview?
