Web Forms :: Create Multiple Masterpages And Create A Handler To Dynamically Set The Correct Master Page?

Feb 18, 2011

I'm currently in the process of creating a webshop. This webshop supports theming, but I also want customers to choose a lay-out. I can create multiple masterpages and create a handler to dynamically set the correct master page. But some components, like the shopping cart, are controls which have to be present in the master page and are also used in the aspx pages. The shopping cart control for instance, has an Update method which is called whenever the user adds a product to their cart. So the question is: can I somehow create a default masterpage which has all the components on it, but still be able to create multiple lay-outs. And how should I reference that master page from the aspx pages? I also thought of creating an Interface class which defines the masterpage and it's public components, but I don't know if I can reference an interface from aspx pages.

Forms Data Controls :: Datalist Paging - Display Remaining Date In Next Page

Feb 25, 2010

I have a datalist inside 1 datalist. In the first datalist i am binding the "advertisement posted" date field from sql server. In the second datalist i am binding the ads posted on that date using an object datasource. my pro is, i need to show a total of 100 ads in one page. This should not depend on the date. Total 100 postings in the page. For example

Todays date (02/25/2010)
50 postings
yesterdays date (02/24/2010)

if 75 postings are there,

50 postings

it should display only 50 postings under yesterday's date remaining 25 postings should display in next page(paging) with the format like this

yesterdays date (02/24/2010)
remaining 25 postings
(02/23/2010)
75 postings

how can i do the paging like this?

Create Dynamic Images From WPF User Control Inside An HTTP Handler?

Dec 1, 2010

I'm using Microsoft's PivotViewer control in one of my Silverlight projects. I'm creating a JIT collection and was hoping to dynamically generate the images based on the rendered result of a WPF UserControl. In order to generate the images I'm using an HTTP Handler to serve the images up dynamically.

how I might best go about this. It's all quite a mashup of technologies and a bit difficult to know where best to begin.

EDIT: I have found a guy that's done this in ASP.Net MVC here -

In other words, I have button with code behind that needs to be excuted, but at the same time want to be able to have one of animation extenders be applied to it. SQL Server :: Stored Procedure - EXECUTE And EXECUTE Sp_executesql

Mar 10, 2011

I am looking through a sql stored procedure which I might need to update in the near future. Basically the stored procedure is about 20 lines long. The stored procedure first builds a query

and stores it in a variable named "@Sql". And then for the last two lines of the stored procedure it appears that the big sql statement stored in "@Sql" is executed by using the "EXEC" command. See below. What is confusing though is that the query appears to be exectuted twice? Why was the query written in this way. Don't both lines do the same thing? Why is it being done twice? Could this possibly be a mistake on the
part of the person who wrote the query. Below are the two lines I am talking about?

EXEC sp_executesql @sql
EXEC (@sql)

JQuery :: Gridview Selection Remaining While User Is On That Row?

Feb 24, 2011

I have a page with a Search button, a gridview and a listview. When the Search button is clicked, the gridview fills up with a resultset and has a 'detail' linkbutton on each row. When the user clicks on the detail link, the listview below the gridview fills up with details related to the selected gridview row. My customers have asked if when they click on the gridview row, it becomes highlighted, and remains highlighted while they are working on the detail in the listview. So, I need to highlight the row when clicked, remove the highlight when a new row is clicked (as well as highlight the new row), and remove highlighting when the Search button is clicked. The highlight needs to remain over postback since there could be a full-page postback.

I'm thinking JQuery is the way to go but I am a JQuery novice and so would need a code sample.

Fill Remaining Table Cell With A Row Of Dots?

Jun 23, 2010

I am creating an HTML report (it's to be a form for filling in). I have a table at the bottom of the form which contains a list of items and yes/no checkboxes at the side. I need to have this work so that cells on the left that contain a question have any empty space filled with dots, e.g.:

Short question......................... yes no
Longer question etc, etc............... yes no

Does anyone know of a way of doing this, ideally by CSS, but on the server side if necessary.
