Mar 9, 2011I have 5 linkbuttons act as navigation menus on the top of each .aspx page. I wrote code to control when and which linkbutton should be enabled. I am going to create a header.ascx page with these 5 linkbuttons and use <%=Response.Write("header.ascx")%> code to include the .ascx file in the .aspx page. But I got a problem with the code behind, the current .aspx page does not recongnize the linkbutton objects because they are in another file. How do I declare these 5 linkbuttons in the application?

MyClass extends Page, which is the code behind class for that aspx page.Now I want to add another class to the aspx page. This class does some processing and will redirect the user to another page if certain conditions are met. It will be called before the above directive. I tried adding another @Page directive, but gotten an unknown error (literally). I'm thinking that there can only be one code behind class per aspx page so I got the error when I added another one. Googling such question didnt really help me with the answer.

Aug 14, 2010A have a custom object - Person in my cs-file and I want to Bind the property Firstname from Person to my textbox txtFirstname in my aspx-file but I cant seem to make it work.
I usually work with webcontrols so its very rare that I get out of my cs-file and use the aspx-file. I can solve my problem by letting my cs-file update the Text-property on my TextBox - but I dont want that I have declared my Person object as protected in my cs-file like this
protected Person myPerson = new Person { Firstname = "Testname" }; and my aspx-file looks like this

I get nothing in my textbox and I want to use this method to update the text-property for a change - you know just to learn some new and not getting stocked in the cs-file all the time.

Jul 18, 2010Depending on a parameter, I want to include html from different files in an aspx page (this is a section of the page). Here is how I am trying to do it:
in aspx file:

in C#
[Code]....
The problem is, whenever I edit the "include" files in VS, VS saves them as UTF-8. Then when I open the web page, there are three extra characters where the included html starts. If I go into a different editor, I can change the format to ANSI and then it displays okay in the web page.
I have two questions: 1. Is there a way I can save the file in VS as ANSI so I don't get the three garbage characters? (I tried saving as file types .htm, .txt, and .inc but none work.) 2. Is there a better way to do this so it does not matter if the file is UTF-8 or ANSI?

Jul 28, 2010I have to create the custom pages/ templates. User has to specify the fields and controls from UI and then we have to display the specified controls on an aspx page. We have mutiple users that are adding their custom fields and controls. How we can manage this data in database? Do we have to create different database for each user or we have to create different tables for each user in a single database? Also, I can go with any other option (XML, Sharepoint etc) so that all the data will be managed in a simpler form.

When I press Button1, I would expect the CustomValidator to fire only if there is a value in TextBox1.Instead, the CustomValidator is ALWAYS fired. Even adding ValidateEmptyText="false" to the validator does nothing to change this behaviour.What am I missing from my control implementation that is causing this?

Jan 7, 2010I have a requirement where I have a webpart and two ImageButtons(imgGV, imgLV) and a hidden input textbox('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType') in an aspx page. I need to change templates to this Webpart either to show results in "Grid View" or as "List View" on the click of this ImageButtons. I added code in the page_load of .aspx page as

When I am clicking the specific ImageButton, it has to write into hidden field either "GV" or "LV". In the webpart CreateChildControls I assign templates based on the text in Hidden field either "GV" (Grid Template) else "LV" (List Template). In the CreateChildControls of Webpart for the template change, I am getting the Hidden value as empty. I am using coding as

So the text added using Javascript into Textbox is it not available in the code behind code using "Text" property of the same Textbox?.

CSS Getting Distorted While Using The Custom WebUserControl In An ASPx Page?
Oct 6, 2010I have a very simple Web UserControl derived from System.Web.UI.UserControl. At Design Time the user control looks perfect in the VS2008 Pane with all CSS styles. When I drag n drop this control on an aspx page, the CSS style gets applied but some texts get hidden and the CSS looks distorted.
I have checked the path of the CSS, UserControl and the ASPx page. All are in the same level under root. The aspx page just contains the UserControl in a FORM tag.

Feb 19, 2010 I'm populating my nodes from SQL 2008. My Defauld.aspx is also devided into frames. leftmenu is frame on left. topframe is frame on top and mainframe is frame right center. In my leftmenu frame LeftMenu.aspx display a SQL populated treeview. if I click on the child node it opens Home.aspx in the Main Frame. This is pretty straight forward. My problem is that i can't get the value of that populated node over to a textbox on my Home.aspx page that is displayed in the mainframe on the right. My code is as follows:

I've tried to use following attributes:

I'm trying to implement asp.net membership for a website and I'll create some additional SQL tables (such as Companies, Services, etc) other than asp.net membership tables. So; do I need to include an ApplicationID column to these custom tables? Why?

This textbox gets shown if a certain selection is made in a drop down. The problem is that I would like the "%" character to also be hidden or shown with the textbox.
I have tried putting the whole textbox control inside a DIVand in my JQuery hiding the DIV at the same time I hid the textbox.

But I get an error in my java script that id="divSomeDIV" doesn't exist in the current context.
