I am trying to find a code snippet that reads a sql server db and retrieves an image from a table and converts it into a thumbnail image. I'm looking for VB.Net code that does this and I can't find anything.
View 23 RepliesHow do you currently find the balance between javascript and code behind. I have recently come across some extremely bad (in my eyes) legacy code that lends itself to chaos (someHugeJavafile.js) which contains a lot of the logic used in many of the pages.
Let's say for example that you have a Form that you need to complete.
1. Personal Details
2. Address Information
3. Little bit more about yourself
You don't want to overload the person with all the fields at once, so you decide to split it up into steps.
Do you create separate pages for Personal Details, Address Information and a Little bit more about yourself.
Do you create controls for each and hide and show them on a postback or using some update panel?
Do you use jQuery and do some checking to ensure that the person has completed the required fields for the step and show the new "section" by using .show()?
I have a number of pages
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="True" CodeBehind="MyPage.aspx.cs" Inherits="MyPage " MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" %>

<asp:Table runat="server">

Why neither method can't find a control?
I am developing a web application that will allow the customer to enter a personalized message, which will then be converted to HTML. Well, the problem is that I can not allow the insertion of Javascript code. So I need a method that filters the text, searching for and remove it. I think the regular expressions to solve my problem, but I'm having difficulty building.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to copy code from one project to another. There is one problem however:
The type 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Sql.SqlDatabase' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=3.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
how can find and implement post code address finder?
"Postcode finder" is work by CMS or any free web service..
I am looking for a way to figure out the current URL that the page is currently on (NOT what the asp.net page currently is, but where the CODE is at). ie. My web app is located at: [URL] my code is: String page = [URL]
String response = GetResponse(page); //basically the above code goes to the website [URL] and parses the HTML within it and brings it back and populates the variable string "response". But, sometimes the [URL] throws me a curve ball and redirects me to: [URL] I want to be able to use a try/catch to be able to "catch" the error of a different page: ie validateUser.aspx. So, I need to do to this: try
{
String page = [URL];
String response = GetResponse(page);
}
catch
{
//code to check the behind URL to see if [URL] is the URL OR IF [URL] is the current URL
}
understand I know how to find the URL of the current page the web app is on. I need to find the current page that threw the exception during the execution of the code behind.
Just in general, where can I find the code to take a look at and learn from them? Or at least look at the functions available to me as I do get the feeling that the insufficient documentation at the moment reveals all.
View 5 RepliesI am developing a web application in which I am suddenly facing an issue. I have a webpage which contains many controls, one of the control is JQuery color picker. Now, I am upgrading my system with telerik controls. As part of this process, I replaced textbox(txtcolor) with radcolorpicker with a different id(colorPicker). Suddenly, my code behind file is not throwing any errors like 'unable to find txtColor'. It is running successfully without build errors. But, when I open the page, system is throwing runtime exception(txtColor not found) which is correct.
I tried to change other controls with asp.net controls, still the problem persists. So, I dont think it is anything to do with telerik.
I am trying to create strogly typed datasets for my project. When I right click on the xsd file that I need to generate a strongly typed dataset for I can't find the 'Advanced' properties as described in the below article (almost half way down)[URL]As I do not see the Advanced properties option I can't find the 'Custom Tool' property/option to set its value to 'MSDatasetGenerator'. Do I have to install some kind of patch on my VS 2005?
View 5 Repliesguess it's straightforward. On page load, i wanna check the group of which a particular belong to. Say, someADNameeckham belongs to Account. In that case, I only wanna get "Account". But I have no idea how to get the group name of a particular user belong to. It's for LAN web portal so I guess security is not a very big concern here.
View 5 RepliesI want to call a function present in code behind from front page (html : source code)
i want to use like this:
Source code
<a href='<%# linkAlpha("B").ToString()) %>' title="B" id="B_List" runat = "server">B</a>
Code Behind
protected string linkAlpha(string value)
{
// /market-research/<%#Eval("customname")%>/
string str = "";
if (Request.Url.DnsSafeHost == "localhost")
{ // /market-reports/<%# Eval("customname")%>/
str = "Alpha_Category.aspx?q=" + value.ToString().Trim();
// Response.Redirect("Alpha_Category.aspx?q=" + value.ToString().Trim());
}
else
{
// str = "/market-reports/" + value.ToString().Trim() + "/";
str = "/Alpha_Category.aspx?q=" + value.ToString().Trim();
}
return str;
}
I have a number of radio buttons on my page. When one is selected, I wish for certain controls to be made visible/invisible.
Can anyone tell me the property to code in VB behind code?
how to generate HTML code from the code behind?
I would like to build a form that generate an html code inside a for loop.
I will let the user enter the photo name and No. of photos
Then I will generate an HTML code like this:
<a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(1).jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(1).jpg" alt="" width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br /> <a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(2).jpg" target="_blank">
<img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(2).jpg" alt="" width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br /> <a href="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(3).jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.mzinj.org/images/gallery/Photo%20(3).jpg" alt=""
width="345" height="247" /> </a> <br />
depending on the No. of the photos the code will be duplicated in the loop
Then I will display the result of the loop in label or in a textarea to let the user copy it any where
The problem is that while compiling my code it considers the HTML code as a part of the behind file and gives errors on the single quote, the double quote and on the parentheses
I have been asked to support a legacy app and I can't get access to the code behind files. I need to add a new feature that gets a list of items from the database on page_load, what way would adding an "in-page" page_load affect the compiled page_load?

When the user hits the Enter Key I want to go through and validate some fields and kick it back to the user if a fields doesnt' validate. With the above code, the btnEnter_Click still is getting called even though I have it to return. I tried return false; too incase I misunderstood something.BTW, yes the code is falling into the Else Statement when stepping through code.
