View 3 RepliesI've a Gmail account, assume that me@gmail.com. Now I want to login (as admin) in my website through this account. I know I can use OpenID etc. for that purpose but I want to limit it for just me only. Can I do this? I don't let anyone else to know which service I used to login and what is my address and etc. (Note: My website contains just one and only one login form, for just me, only!)

I have created a asp.net website, that we are going to deploy at India. All client of this website would be from SWEDEN.
This site have option (last login date time) at user's dashboard after successfull login.
Now my problem is that if application is deploy at India and user loggedin from SWEDEN then user is able to show only server date time which is of India.
My Steps are as following
1. User logged into site first time at 10 AM(server time), surfing starts...
2. Logged out at 10:30 (server time)
3. Application store server datetime in database.
4. Next time user come, application will store same date and time from database as last loggin datetime.
How can i store SWEDEN date time in database when user logged out from site, it will in future grow to other country also.
want to use ligh box effect like i have login control and i want to show login control in ligh box effect so its like if i open on login link login control wil show and same time we can control click anywhere in page ??

I need to capture the the windows logon user name without prompting for the user id and password and display that on the web site. I had tried almost everything... changed authentication,security setups on IE and IIS etc... still not being able to avoid the window...
View 1 RepliesIn ASP.NET, Session_End will be fired when the Session is time out then I can guess the user has left or close the Browser window in this method. But there is some delay till time out, is there any better solution?
View 2 Repliessuppose we have two or mor ethan two website .All site ask username and password.Their database is located differnent places.I want to know how i can do this thing that user who authenticated from any site do not need to authenticate again he will pass directly.No

[Code]....
Environment: W2K8R2 x64 +SPn..., Office 2007 +SPn..., Visual Studio 2008 + SP1+ SPn..., SqlExpress2005 +SPn..., SQL Std 2008 +SPn...
2 Problems...
1) No matter how I try Default.aspx never shows up as the StartPage even though I've told it to, the Login.aspx Page shows up first, so the rest of the walkthrough seems strange....
2) I'm a dummy when it comes to SMTP so I can not seem to get the SMTP to send a message to the User supplied e-mail address....
I want to use this methodology for many Web-Sites I have planned, but if it doesn't work then perhaps not....
i am doing one chat application in that chat application i have one private chat now i want if i click one user logo that pop chat window automatically fired in that user window how do i that
View 1 RepliesI'm currently messing around in Access to develop a website, or I should say - develop the initial workings of a database system in an environment that I am familiar with. As the .Net environment is the one I am most familiar with for developing, deploying the Access database into the more full-fledged SQL Server environment is a natural step. Now comes the part with ASP.Net that I'm not so familiar with - reconciliating differences between how I am coding and designing my database with the default website project that ASP.Net provides for a basic multi-user website, from which I've noticed is a lot more thorough than any solution I could code up within a reasonable time-frame.
However, this comes at a cost. I have no inkling on how user data is stored within this environment or how to extend it within my own needs. I can make sample data up the wazoo on my laptop, but if I have no idea how to incorporate with a pre-existing framework, it is worthless to me. The reason why I have not considered this until now is the data I have been working on doesn't pertain to the users in a direct fashion. Anyone have experience designing websites that use ASP.Net and maintain user access? What problems, issues, and design considerations might I need to concern myself when developing a multi-user website with ASP.Net in addition to my data?
I am taking MSDN's walkthrough on Creating a Web Site with Membership and User Login. I have some free time and am taking a look at some topics I'm not 100% clear on. So this isn't for a live site; just for my own edification. I set up a user in the web site administration tool then another one in the CreateUserWizard control. I was surprised that in the control it let me create the 2nd user with the same email id as the 1st so I was looking around at how to prevent this. I found requiresUniqueEmail="true" that goes in web.config, in this block:
Code:
<membership defaultProvider="SqlProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="20">
<providers>
<add name="SqlProvider"
type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"
connectionStringName="SqlServices"
enablePasswordRetrieval="false"
enablePasswordReset="true"
requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true"
passwordFormat="Hashed"
requiresUniqueEmail="true"
applicationName="MyApplication" />
</providers>
</membership>
Which I believe would be the solution. Is that right? My problem is what do I set all those other attributes to in the block? All I really want is requiresUniqueEmail but it seems I have to specify a connectionstring also but I don't know what this would be. The website is using ASPNETDB.MDF which got created in App_Data after I ran the administration tool for the first time (I believe). So I need to explicitly define a connectionstring to that DB now that I want to require a unique email?
first here is my connection string:
"Data Source=tcp:sql2k803.discountasp.net;Initial Catalog=SQL2008_736225_aldookandb;User ID=SQL2008_736225_aldookandb_user;Password=******; "
note that i can successfully connect to the db using the user 'SQL2008_736225_aldookandb_user' when i use a remote connection tool, such as sql server managment studio
And you can reproduce this problem, see it live and see the stack trace by doing the following:
A) :
1.go to my website [URL]
2.login as username: Teacher1 password: 123456 (Note that you have been logged in successfully)
3. go to the link in the upper right corner where it says (Teacher Page)
4. booooom!
B):
1. go to the website and create an account as a "Teacher"
2. do steps 2 to 4 from above and same problem occurs
Right now, I have all the employees of my company login to an external website using the company id, username and a password. We are trying to integrate it into an intranet portal which should provide seamless access to this website without requiring the user to enter these credentials.
Is there any way of doing this programmatically (.NET C#)? Very similar to screenscraping, Can I simulate the appropriate POST action and then redirect the user to the logged in page?
I have made a web page in which there is login screen when user login it goes next page but my problem is if i directly enter the url of that page it open. I want it should not open unless the user log in...Â

View 3 RepliesI've got a Jquery function that I wrote which blacks out the screen after a certain amount of inactivity, creates a pop-up that allows the user to click a button to stay logged in, and logs them out (closing the application window) if they do not respond in time.
The environment is ASP.NET (VB). We don't technically use master pages, but we do have a parent page in which our header, footer and nav reside, and my Jquery code is called from that window, loaded via an IFrame.My problem is that if one is working in a child window, the parent window doesn't recognize that the system is in use, and will automatically engage at the allocated time.I've tried everything under the sun I can think of and nothing works properly. My event handler is working, and it does call the parent window function, but the timer is not being reset.
I have this function in the parent window:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function window.reportChildActivity() {

View 1 RepliesWe have created a windows application which is distributed amongst our clients. The application uses SQL Server 2008 as the back end and each client uses their own database on their own server. The databases are all exactly the same but each clients data is specific only to them.
We would like to offer our clients the ability to log-in to our website which would then login to their own database so that when they are out in the field they can perform similar tasks to what they can do with the windows app.Each of the clients databases has a user table containing their login details, permissions etc.
Our server is running on IIS and has SQL Server 2008 installed but it only contains our data and nothing of the clients.How should we go about this?
What I mean is do we need to make each client have an additional login to our main server which would then hold each clients individual connection strings etc which would then be used to connect to there specific database and then they would need to login again?? Seems like a nightmare for the user.
