Use Gmail Or Live Service To Login In The Website But Limit Only One User (admin) To Login?

Dec 24, 2010

I've a Gmail account, assume that me@gmail.com. Now I want to login (as admin) in my website through this account. I know I can use OpenID etc. for that purpose but I want to limit it for just me only. Can I do this? I don't let anyone else to know which service I used to login and what is my address and etc. (Note: My website contains just one and only one login form, for just me, only!)

Security :: Admin Node Doesn't Show On Live Site With Proper Login - VS Express 2008?

Jan 8, 2010

This is my third site that I use role management, but the first time this happens. I have two roles: Member and Admin. If Admin user login, Admin node on sitemap shows. It works very well on my local machine in Visual Studio Express 2008 and in Visual Studio Team 2008. But once I deploy files to live site, even admin login, the Admin node doesn't show. I have a Member management page from which I may see member's role, and I can see that user name is in the role Admin. What could be wrong?

I used ASP.Net Configuration manager to create roles, users, and access roles. Here is the code:

in general site.config

<siteMap enabled="true " defaultProvider="XmlSiteMapProvider">
<providers>
<add name="XmlSiteMapProvider" description="Default SiteMap provider." type="System.Web.XmlSiteMapProvider"
siteMapFile="Web.sitemap" securityTrimmingEnabled="true"/>

Security :: Allow Clients To Login To Website And Connect To Specific Server Based On Login

Jul 5, 2010

We have created a windows application which is distributed amongst our clients. The application uses SQL Server 2008 as the back end and each client uses their own database on their own server. The databases are all exactly the same but each clients data is specific only to them.

We would like to offer our clients the ability to log-in to our website which would then login to their own database so that when they are out in the field they can perform similar tasks to what they can do with the windows app.Each of the clients databases has a user table containing their login details, permissions etc.

Our server is running on IIS and has SQL Server 2008 installed but it only contains our data and nothing of the clients.How should we go about this?

What I mean is do we need to make each client have an additional login to our main server which would then hold each clients individual connection strings etc which would then be used to connect to there specific database and then they would need to login again?? Seems like a nightmare for the user.

Security :: Login User Into Windows From The Service

Nov 22, 2010

Is it possible to remotly login into Windows using ASP? What I'm trying to accomplish is, that I could remotly call a ASP page on my server (Apache on Win Vista) that logs in a user on that system. For example remotly I start a Wake-On-Lan to start the computer (server). It boots up to the user login screen where I would have to enter my password to login to the desktop. Because the service is already running at that time, I would like to open a ASP page from my client that I could pass the windows user/password and the ASP-service would login the user on the server machine.

Security :: Using ASP Tools For Login And Create User / Login Tool Is Going To Get Userid And Password Info?

May 25, 2010

I've created a page to add users, using the CreateUserWizard, I use the Login Control to login.

I have setup the config file to use my SQL server, not express

<remove name="LocalSqlServer"/>
<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx;Initial Catalog=aspnetdb;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=xxxx;Password=xxxxxx" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

I go to the create user page, add a user.

I can SEE the user on the database using Server Management Studio...

I go to signon and get "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again."

I have not customized the login control in any way. (OR the createuserwizard)

HOW can I tell where the Login tool is going to get userid and password info?

How can I tell if it is not finding the user or the password does not match?

Security :: Login Form Rejecting Valid Login With Forms Based Security And Membership Service

Jan 21, 2010

I've set up a system with forms based authentication and using the asp:Login control. When I put in an invalid password I get the approriate invalid password message. However when I put in a valid password, it does nothing...just returns to the login page again. I'm triple checked the login info. There is no error message, and the invalid attempts counter doesn't increment. When I put a break point in the Login_LoggedIn event of the Login form, it hits it, but User.Identity.IsAuthenticated is false. I'm not 100% sure it should be true at this point, as I'm pretty new to .NET but it seems kind of odd.

My user database is stored in a sqlserver 2005 db that already existed. I've added a new connection for it.In the authorization I have

<authorization>deny
users="?"/><authorization>

1) No matter how I try Default.aspx never shows up as the StartPage even though I've told it to, the Login.aspx Page shows up first, so the rest of the walkthrough seems strange....

2) I'm a dummy when it comes to SMTP so I can not seem to get the SMTP to send a message to the User supplied e-mail address....

I want to use this methodology for many Web-Sites I have planned, but if it doesn't work then perhaps not....

Access Website - User Login Design And Considerations

Feb 17, 2011

I'm currently messing around in Access to develop a website, or I should say - develop the initial workings of a database system in an environment that I am familiar with. As the .Net environment is the one I am most familiar with for developing, deploying the Access database into the more full-fledged SQL Server environment is a natural step. Now comes the part with ASP.Net that I'm not so familiar with - reconciliating differences between how I am coding and designing my database with the default website project that ASP.Net provides for a basic multi-user website, from which I've noticed is a lot more thorough than any solution I could code up within a reasonable time-frame.

However, this comes at a cost. I have no inkling on how user data is stored within this environment or how to extend it within my own needs. I can make sample data up the wazoo on my laptop, but if I have no idea how to incorporate with a pre-existing framework, it is worthless to me. The reason why I have not considered this until now is the data I have been working on doesn't pertain to the users in a direct fashion. Anyone have experience designing websites that use ASP.Net and maintain user access? What problems, issues, and design considerations might I need to concern myself when developing a multi-user website with ASP.Net in addition to my data?
