i know this question have been mentioned alot here but mine is a little more updated, now with ASP.net 4 and new Ajax client templating plus JASON services. so if i got all these new capabilities will i really need server side controls as long as i can bind on client side, create data-views on client side heck i can even use data-context and apply CRUD operations on clients side.
so i actually i wont need button_click server side event or what so ever... i am asking this because i own some commercial Controls like Telerik and Component art and they both offer client side operations ow but still i am confused as to my knowledge creating these controls will still have to go through Page Life cycle

I need to know on the serverside, if a RadioButton has been disabled (by javascript) on the clientside.
The (serverside) Enabled property is not the same as the (clientside) disabled property. Using MyRadioButton.Attributes("disabled") doesn't do the trick either.

I've got a gridview with a few textboxes in each row which I want to insert into a database, after a user clicks a submit button (thats outside of the gridview)
This is my code for the gridview
[Code]....
And this is my code for the button
[Code]....
But when I click the button it gives me this error
"Multiple controls with the same ID 'Label12' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs."
How do I give the controls unique IDs if they are in a gridview and the rows are database driven?

I'm currently converting a set of .aspx pages and the VB code behind them to .ascx and C#.
Basically the system I'm working with validates a shopping basket but with me changing the class the code inherits from I'm having issues working out what I should change it too.
I'm changing from System.Web.UI.Page to System.Web.UI.UserControl and am primarily having problems with the Validator.Add(v) element of the code below:
public override void Validate()
{
base.Validate();
if (Profile.ShoppingCart == null || Profile.ShoppingCart.Items.Count == 0)
{
CustomValidator v = new CustomValidator();
v.ErrorMessage = "You must have at least 1 course in your basket.";
v.IsValid = false;
Validator.Add(v);
}
}

I have a link button inside a repeater. How would I directly call the serverside (ItemCommand) method during postback. I want to skip the page_load. The wierd thing happening is, if I put (!Postback) it doesn't execute other methods on postback but it does if I don't set the !postback condition. I have repeater inside a updatepanel in UserControl.

i have a gridview with commandbutton column and a textbox template column. My requirement is changing the text and hitting the enter key should also perform the same function as the command button. So i enabled the autopostback of the textbox.But if i click the command button after changing the text in the text box fires both the TextChanged event as well as the item command event. Is there anyway to bypass the Textbox text change event if i postback using the grid command button?

i have a form on a particular ASPX page that has custom js validation. Also on this form is a navigation menu in the header.
The navigation menu items are built programatically and are initiated by __doPostBack calls which obviously submits the form.
The problem i am having is that the form itself has code something like the following
onsubmit='return validateForm()'
and if the form has not been filled out then the form cant submit. This in itself is not a problem unless a user goes to the form but decides to navigate away.
When this happens the validateForm function fails.
Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?
NB: On my nav links i have already set CausesValidation="False"
This is the markup:
<div id="divNavigate" class="absolute_topleft">
<asp:LinkButton ID="linkGoHome" runat="server" OnClick="linkGoHome_Click" CausesValidation="false" CssClass="xxx">text.</asp:LinkButton>
</div>
This is the handler:
protected void linkGoHome_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Response.Redirect("xxxxx");
}
This is the validation function:
[Code]....
And this is how its called:
<form id="formLogin" runat="server" onsubmit="return validateTextField(field1)">

I have a problem with the ASP FileUpload control. It occurs in Safari and on websites where anonymous authentication is disabled and windows authentication is enabled.
When I select a file in the upload-control and then press an ASP-button the serverside event for the button is not triggered and PostBack is false.
Steps to reproduce the error:
1. Create a page with a file upload and a button. Print a message in the page's load event so you can see that if postback is true or false
2. Open IIS-manager and Add a new application that points to the folder where the page is
3. Disable Anonymous Authentication, ASP.NET Impersonation and Forms Authentication for the application
7. Enable Windows Authentication for the application
8. Browse to the page with Safari
9. Select a file with the upload control
10. Press Ok. Postback is false
If you then enable anonymous authentication on the web application and restart the browser postback works as expected.
