I would like to hook up custom error page to my ASP.NET web site.What I would like to do is that. When any error occured transfer the visitor to a custom error page informing about the error,
and at the same time log into a file or send an e-mail to my email account reporting the error.Then an other thing how can I generate error for testing the my Eventhandler method?
I wanted to use tracing to capture errors and programmatically send reports via email and text message...that if the ADMIN is eating out at a restaurant on a saturday nite he can see the text message/email to notify and capture..any way to do this??

It worked with gmail after I configured SMTP and network credentials properly. For this i did google and found some solutions but still its not working:

-given full access to aspnet and network services on my root directory and reports folder and then restarted iis.

but still getting same error.

View 5 RepliesI have a password recovery control on my login page. I want to have it send the user specified (and after question/answer filled out correctly) password in an email. I keep throwing an error though, saying that the SMTP needs authentication. I've used a lot of email capabilities in my application, but I set all the SmtpClient properties programmatically, so I never had to rely on system.net mailSettings section of the web.config file. But now I am relying on it, because I am not intercepting any events (unless that would be easiest) of the password recovery control. Here is my system.net excerpt from my web.config file:

What am I not doing here to specify SMTP authentication? Why am I throwing this error? I'm putting my credentials in there with username and password. Am I not configuring the PasswordRecovery control correctly?
I'm looking for a way to intercept the ASP.NET processing pipeline in such a way to be able to register event handlers to all events on the Page class. The reason is, I need to maintain a session-bound instance of a component that needs to be notified of all important Page events, starting from OnPreInit.
There's an arbitrary number of Page descendants in the application, which are not under my control. Hence I cannot use an approach like using a single custom descendant, that would notify the session-bound component, as a base class for all pages in the web application.
I don't think creating a custom IHttpHandler or IHttpModule implementation would solve the problem. Also note I cannot create a custom HttpApplication descendant.
I am making mailing system and i am using SQL MAIL service and i need to send mail to other server(application and mail server on different locations).so i some how i need to use queue systems. for example if i send 5000 mail then it should go in batch of 500-500. if i write code in core vb.net then user need to stay untill all batches complete. so some how i need a system by which user just click and mail address fetching and sending process works in background as well send in batch.
View 4 RepliesOur heavily-used VS2005 application uses CR (10.2) for an MSWord-formatted stream to a webservice, and for printing from a CRViewer. We continue to get "Failed to open report" or "The maximum report processing jobs limit configured by your system administrator has been reached". Once the error starts, the only remedy is recycling the application pool, disconnecting current users.
I have used the proper ReportDocument Close() and Dispose(), and even GC.Collect(), in Page_Unload. I upped the Print Job Limit from 75 to 300. After recycling I delete temp files.
1) Is there any way to monitor the use of the CR resources, to see when they increase and get close to the limit?
2) Is there any way to free them without having to disconnect users?
I suspect users are simply closing their browser after printing from an open CR Viewer. It would still go through Page_Unload, right? So maybe I would benefit from closing and disposing the CR Viewer in Page_Unload as well as the click that returns them to the application.
I had assumed that to permit users to page through the report, the CR Viewer had to have ViewState enabled, and remain open through Page_Unload.
