Web Forms :: How To Write Data For Collecting Sql Database
Jan 12, 2011I want to write the above form data to a sql server database
View 2 RepliesI want to write the above form data to a sql server database
View 2 RepliesSuppose we want to select the data from the database then we write the query for that. Example:
SqlConnection con=new SqlConnection(Connetion name) string selectPkId = @"SELECT PK_ID FROM TABLE" SqlCommand cmd=new SqlCommand(selectPkId ,con);
So,my question is that why we basically use @ before the sql query.If I don't use @ before that then it again work fine (does not give any error), then what is need of using "@"?
I'm fairly new so I've been learning via examples. The idea of this part of the project is to present a list of items (out of a DB), and when you click on an image that's on the list, it should open a new window with the details. this is the snippet where
I send the variable:
<asp:ImageButton runat="server" ID="imagebutton1" ImageUrl="images/icon_lupa.gif"
I display a bunch of projects in a GridView. I want to create a TemplateField with a TextBox in it in my GridView. I want user to enter a dollar amount for each row i.e. project in the GridView which is the project budget. When the user clicks submit, I
want to collect the dollar amounts entered and commit them in the database to their corresponding projects.My question is: how do I itereate through all the rows of the GridView to see if user entered a dollar amount, and if so, collect it so that I can send it to my stored procedure?
I just wanted to get some ideas of what you would think be the best way to collect data/numbers that are part of a time series? Let's say I'm collecting monthly data from the users, related to some product and I'd like to be able to provide them a simple and efficient way of entering these numbers based on some month end period. So for instance on 6/30/2009, they could enter some numbers for a set of data points that pertain to that product. Would one of the data controls (such as GridView or DetailsView) be sufficient to do this? I know the GridView isn't so much able to save data but I believe the DetailsView has some functionality for that. In the end, I'd really like to provide a seemless way to do show this and ability to enter and save this.

View 1 RepliesI want to add a page to an existing website with a list of practical system information about the server that's running the site. For example, which windows version, 32 or 64 bits, SQL Server version, some host variables, amount of RAM, disk space and whatever else. Basically, anything practical that could tell me more about the health of the server. So, how do I get the most practical information through .NET?
Not important how it's going to be displayed but assume it's a list with three columns: Name of the setting, value for the setting and a description that tells what the setting is for... (The first two would already be enough, though, but for clarifications a description would be nice.)
One added complication, though: I need both 32-bits and 64-bits solutions...
I'm using the inbuilt dot net authentication to register users in a simple web site and trying to add some extra information to be collected on registration. It currently asks for Usernname, email, password, confirm password. I'd like to add some extra bits, something like "favourite colour" - just a simple stringIs there an easy way of doing this? Maybe a simple tutorial I could follow?
View 2 RepliesAsp.net web application (source stored in svn) sqlserver database. (Database schema (tables/sprocs) stored in svn) db version is synced with web application assembly version. (stored in table 'CurrentVersion')CI hudson server that checks out web app from repo and runs custom msbuild file to publish/package app.
My msbuild script updates the assembly version of the web app (Major.Minor.Revision.Build) on each build. The 'Revision' is set to the currently checked out svn revision and the 'Build' to the hudson build number (incremented on each automated build).
This way i can match the app to a specific trunk revision also get other build stats from the hudson build number.
I'd like to automate the collecting of migration scripts (updated sprocs etc) to add to the zip package. I guess by comparing the svn revision of the db that has yet to be deployed to, to the revision being deployed, i can find what db files have changed in the trunk since the last deployment to that database/environment.
This could easily be achieved by manually calling the svn diff -r REVNO:REVNO command to list changed .sql files. These files could then manually have to be added to the package.
It would be great if this could be automated.
Firstly i'd imagine I'll have to write a custom task to check the version of the db that has yet to be deployed to. After that I'm quite unsure. how this would be achieved through an msbuild task either existing or custom?
Finally I'll have to autogen a script to add to the package that updates the database version table so as to be in sync with the application.
I am a newbie of asp.net.
The environment is .net 3.5 and C#.
There are files stored in sql server (datatype of column is varbinary in the database).
each record is in one record in that table (FILE_TABLE).
And there is another table (PATH_TABLE) to store the files paths.
for example,
when the user download the folder A (select an item on the tree and click a button on the client side),
there is one sub-folder B and two files A-1 and A-2.
in folder B, there is two files B-1 and B-2.
then, at the code behind (server), the server will get the files from the database and convert them (including the files and subfolders) to a .zip file (or other compressed files)
and then write a response (using the method HttpResponse.BinaryWrite(Byte[] xxx) )
to client side and let the user download.
after the download, the user can extract the compressed file and the structure of the folders and files keep unchanged.
I'm trying to make a .Net, c# application for online creating surveys. I have a few types of questions, and than I dynamicly put labels, combos, textboxes ... on the form. Up to this point, I somehow managed to get. Than, on click on add button, I write down the responses in html format using stringBuffer and append function. Example.
public string RetOptionalQuestion(string seq_numm, string question, string answersOpt)
{
StringBuilder _output = new StringBuilder();

Is there a way to write PDF to a div from DataBase i.e. Retrieve a Byte[] from Database and Reponse.BinaryWrite to a div.
We do similar thing for Images using src = "anotherpage.aspx" where image is written on anotherpage.
Is it possible with PDF without using IFrame?
I am reading in a file into a string. Then I am writing this string to a stream. I know this code works fine.
The only problem that I have is with the line that write the data in chunks where the parameters is not supported for the Write method.
The line that has the problem is this line. What do I need to change here?
OutPut.Write(buffer, 0, Math.Min(to_write, WRITE_CHUNK));

As I am learning and working on Asp.Net MVC application, I want to know that what is the better place to write Business Logic and Data Access logic in MVC.Where should I write DataAccess and Business Logic among three layers (Model, View and Controller) ??Could anybody please tell me the correct way to write the code for this.Scenario: I want to retrieve all the employees where employee name like 'Mi%' ( I have SQL procedure to execute and retrieve the data.)PS: Want to know that where I should create instance of Business Logic class and where I should create instance of Data Access layers class?

With the debug mode, i know, that the app is executed. But sometimes the pages writes at every refresh the line in the database, but in most cases there is no entry in the database.
I have 3 different databases where some tables are common.
View 16 RepliesIm pretty new to NUnit and am beginning the process of setting up my tests. Some of these test involve a database, specifically checking a particular value against a value in a database and if its not greater than the last retrieved value, flag an error. Whats the best way to test in this scenario ? should I write one value to a database then create another value thats out of sequence and run a database query ? This would involve putting a known value into the table, then running the query with another value.
There is no rollback attribute for nunit, so I gues using TransactionScope would work, that way I could return the database to a known state after the test. There tables have foreign keys so that means adding a lot of extra 'dummy' data first to some of the other tables. Is this sort of 'testing' the best way ? I basically need to perform the test based on an existing data value and I guess this must be pretty standard stuff, so whats the best way ?
As I understand it, the tests should be self contained, so any data i insert into the database during the test should be removed afterwards, is this correct ? If so, it means I need to insert test data into 6 additional tables just to test one function, then remove it after the test has completed, is this the normal way to to this ?
Actually I want to get a file and save its length, its MIME type, content into database in binary format.
It saved but not open in hander in correct format.

I am using NLog for logging in an ASP.Net application and making use of the database target with Microsoft Sql Server.I have some logging parameters that are optional and not always specified. I would like these to be written as null when they are not provided, however NLog seems to always write them as empty strings.
Is there a way to configure it to write null as the default?
