View 14 RepliesI'm working on a ASP.Net web page with two tables positioned in the center of the page with one on top of the other. The table on top contains input fields that are dynamically generated by the code-behind, so the number of input fields varies. The table on the bottom contains content that is constant and doesn't change. The layout of the page is fixed and must remain so. My question is, how do I make the bottom table dynamically adjust vertically so that it doesn't overlap with the fields from the top table. The general HTML layout of the page is something like the following:

I'm thinking I could wrap the bottom table in a div, but I'm not sure what specific styling will achieve the desired effect. I basically want to maintain the fixed positioning horizontally, but have the vertical alignment adjust to prevent overlap with the top.

Here is a screen cap that shows the two tables overlapping. The buttons you see are in the bottom table, the fields are supposed to be on the top, all elements are positioned absolutely in the center of the browser screen.

I have a bunch of textboxes ordered going down the left side of the webpage. When a link is clicked a specific textbox becomes visible. Now what I'm trying to do is to bring that specific textbox that is made visible to the top of the page, instead of having it become visible somewhere in the middle of the webpage. Is there an html tag I need to auto adjust to have it move to the very top left corner of the webpage?

View 10 RepliesI have an asp:Table. Its with is 100%. This table has only one row but 6 columns. The width of first 5 column is fixed at 150px. The last one does not have its Width specified and so it takes up the rest. The whole row has a background. If any of the first 5 column is clicked, the background of that cell is changed to white.In my development computer, the last column has about 250px. Yet in user computer, as the monitor has a smaller resolution, the last column has only 30px or so. User complains it is ugly and wish to merge the last column with the previous one. How to do so?

I have a simple online web system where it possible for the visitors to "play around" with the system. They can like create categories and products and so forth. Everything they create are stored into a database.
What I want is to be able to reset this database with my default values (table data) every n hours.
So for example if we have a bunch of users that have played with the system and created new things. Then I want to be able to make some kode that deletes all data in the tables in this database and fill it with default data. The default data can come from a backup file, or another database with same tables structure or whatever.
I want this task to be done every day at 12 pm or every n hour.
Is this possible (by forexample scheduled webservice tasks or just something as long as it is simple).
I have a listvieiw with url's in some of the cells. When I click on them they do nothing. I formated the cells to be "hyperlinks" but still nothing.

Im not really sure what the "returnantID" is but it appears my page isn't liking it, not sure if i was sopposed to cswap it out for some other data or not.

I have a dynamic Gridview that I build on the fly. It works great. Now, I want to put paging on it. I have put the following code as an event on Pageindexchanging. When I do, the system tells me that the BindGridControl is not declared. The other lines have no error on them. What am I doing wrong? The name of the Datagrid is MyGridview. If I comment out the BindGridControl the system does not get an error but it of course does not show the second page when I click on it.

This code works perfectly fine , depending on the ishyperlink flag in the database...specific cells in the grid are made clickable and then redirected to page2.aspx My Issue: I need to capture which specific cell in which specific grid the user has clicked. store some information in sessions based on the cell clicked and use that information in page2.aspx.
A DropDownList is put in a GridView's TemplateField. Its corresponding table cell at runtime shows three controls (verified by checking gv.Rows[iSelected].Cells[iColumn].Controls). The three controls are: 1. Literal; 2. DropDownList; 3. Literal. It is not the case for other controls, at least not for TextBox which I usually access by something like gv.Rows[iSelected].Cells[iColumn].Controls[0]. This is not a big problem because I can always access it by its static ClientID, but I am curious why so and whether other controls have the behavior.
View 2 RepliesTo start with - I'm using VS 2008/.NET 3.5 and working in a company-provided template that leaves me restricted to some/many settings that go beyond the body of the page itself. That said, I need to create a page that will display data from individual cells in a database table that, when lined up would look like a normal sentence. Based on certain criteria I would have certain sections of the sentences hide (ex. if it contains a key phrase or if it's empty).
I've seen a method in which Labels could be used to achieve this effect, where I would assign it the grid coordinates of the cell in a table, but I could never get it to work. I've been successfully connected to the table (LINQDataSource) but still have a blank canvas without this fundamental display technique as that will be all that's in it.
I'm used to Dreamweaver where this is possible. I find it hard to believe that I would need to use a 1 column gridView control.
Is there a way to drag one field from the db Explorer window onto my page and NOT get a grid view?
Or alternatively, I used to be able to put something like this in ASP classic (years ago!) <%= Eval("User") %>
I have two possible header rows for a DataTable that I build dynamically. Setting the value of a cell works fine. Adding the cell to a TableRow works fine. The problem comes in where I have to build a second possible header row that uses the same cell.
An example is below.

As soon as I make the second row add the cell, the cell disappears from the first row. This really doesn't make sense to me but that seems to be the way it is. If there is a work around other than duplicating the lines;
