Mar 11, 2011I've created a WCF Service that Performs Insert User, What it does is, it'l get user name, age,gender,address,phone no and inserts these values into SQL database.
Problem is :
These things are working fine, if i give all the values in the WCF Test Client, It's Not working when i din't enter value for Address and click "Invoke" Button, It's throwing an Exception Procedure or Function "Insert_User" Expects
ADDRESS' Which was not supplied. I've created the SQL table Which allow Null Values for Address.
I've did the same Operaion in WebService also, there it's working fine, if i din't enter any value for tha Allow Null Colums, it's accepting the Null value and inserting into Database.
Why this Problem comes in WCF Test client, Guide me to Get rid of this Problem.
Silverlight - CGI And Debugger - Can't Pass Through URL Because Actual Request Is Coming From Server
Oct 4, 2010I've got a Silverlight app that has to accept some initial data when it fires up. That data, unfortunately, MUST come from XML input. In addition, I can't just pass it through the URL because the actual request is coming from a server external to my own.
So the basic setup is this: Remote server needs to launch my app. Remote server pops open a window on the user's PC with a URL directed at a CGI application that can accept the XML input. The CGI app parses the input and spits out an HTML page containing the Silverlight app with all of the init params set. Long story short: When the Silverlight app is opened this way I can't debug it. I attach to the process, but none of the break points can be hit.
I tried every way in the world to get the ASP.NET page that would normally host the Silverlight app to accept the XML in the URL but it would get stripped by ASP.NET because of security reasons and no amount of modifying the config file would fix it (since it was stemming from the other web server presumably).

We recently decided to make a copy of the website internal to the organisation so we brought a server and copied all the code from live server and configured it and say it is http//archives-testserver.com
Everything seems to work fine but while navigating and clicking on certain module links within http//archives-testserver.com......the domain name is getting rewritten to www.liveserver.com and user is made to navigate on the live site. I wonder where this
configuration is with in IIS...
I looked under properties under website identification and everything is referring it as http://arhives-testserver.com. also thr is a file called securityRedirect.inc and ifor handling errors and all the references have been changed and couldn't find anything in web.config. where else to look for probable reference to live site?

C# - Show Only Client-side Validation With Client And Server Validators?

if in the code behind, I set the label to "You must enter a value if the textbox is empty" to validate it on the server side and this is fine, but if javascript is enabled, I don't want to show the client side validation and the server side label together. Is this something where I would just have to disable the client-side validators if javascript was enabled?
C# - Is A New Thread In A Visual Studio Test Project Aborted When The Test Ends
May 15, 2010i have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website).When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message.On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes.But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done.
Is that normal behaviour?I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?EDIT: it keeps running when the whole process is started in IIS

May 6, 2010I have a basic webform (method="POST") which I would like to "hide" in codebehind by using <asp:LinkButton> and using the OnClick-value to generate the form in C# & doing the http-request. So basically the form looks like this:

Now what I want is to have something like this:

Now my problem is that if i use the normal <form> it displays correctly and works correctly but if I try using <asp:LinkButton> I can't see anything on the actual page.
C# - Client-Server App, Want To Create A Client Simulator ?
Oct 11, 2010We've got a client app which connects using TCP to a server. Additionally, the client app makes use of .NET remoting to talk to another piece of locally running code.
I'm tasked with creating a "Client Simulator" to do some testing, where we'd need to have 100's of clients connected simultaneously to the server. Ideally, this would work out great if I were to run each client in it's own space, such as a VM, but this is not logistically feasible.
how to handle this? Is there a tool that could do something like this? Or some sort-of .NET concept I could use?

However, I am having problems with my code removing the actual node. Visual Studio runs the program with no errors. However, the node is still there. Below is the code I have developed for this. The node changes text to "it worked" as I hope written. However, it will not remove itself. I can get the item to be disabled, change enablement, but I need to hide it completely from the viewers view - not the document.

I have defined an appropriate class but the debug web server (you know, the one you get if you hit f5 in Visual Studio) is responding with "Can't Display Page".I looked here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms228090%28v=VS.90%29.aspx to learn how to configure the handler, and it seems there are different ways for IIS6 and 7. But the process is put something in the web.config and then set it up in IIS Manager. However, that is a deployment issue. I want to be able to run it in the test server, and I don't know how to do this second step in the test server.I put the following in my web.config:

which suggests something wrong with the bookmarks. So I took references to the bookmarks out and started using a file called Hello.doc as my template. No bookmarks - just the word 'hello' in it.This fell over too - but the StackTrace indicated it was when SaveAs was called.So, the question is ... why does it work on my development box but not on the server. The server has Word installed on it.
Configuration :: Move Project To Test Server?
May 3, 2010I have moved my entire project to my test server, everything went as planned with the exception of a couple of items. The main one that I'm having troubles with deals with subfolders of the website. On my local computer I created a my project then I created a sub folder, Secure, so that I can work with the security on the sub folder via ASP.NET configuration. I wanted only certain users to be able to access the folder, which works on my local computer, but when I try to navigate to it on my test server, I get a 404 error. I create two Roles on my local computer, but don't know if I'm able to make those roles on my test server. Is there a way to make those roles so that the security that I have on the sub folder will allow them to be displayed. Not certain why I get a 404 error.
