I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control
I have two sub routines that I've created to pull in my Membership user roles and assign the value/name of that role to the value of a cookie.
My first subroutine looks like this
[Code]....
At this point, role ID is a 1-dimentional array which is not acceptable for a cookie's value (it must be a string), but in Debug mode, I can see that the array does contain the correct roleID value. In my 2nd subroutine I change the value from array to string for no other reason than that it gives me an opportunity to see that the value of CookieValue() before it is converted does have the correct roleID.
[Code]....
Even though it still shows that string as having the correct value, it returns the object "System.String[]"
I am trying to get a number returned from a webservice that executes a stored procedure and gets the record count from SQL. I then want to display an alert with the record count to the users, When they click on 'Check records' button. For now I am just using the alert to see if I could get a number back, here the code I am using:
It just returns [object] rather than the actual data in the alert box in IE 7.0 however it works fine in Firefox and displays the valid record counts like 0, 10, 36 etc...So there some thing else I need to do to handle the JSON data in IE but
Passing a query string value retrieved to an ImageUrl attribute of an image control using asp.net c#.
I have a page called DisplayImage and within the page_load event i was able to retrieve somevalues from the query stringhcode=Request.Querystring["ccode"].Tostring();
In my code below, I'm trying to re-write a string and convert and http text into actual web links.
It doesn't seem to be working and I think the problem may be that I'm rewriting the string and inserting another http string into the original string which then causes problems with the loop.
I have an existing .NET 1.1 dll that I do not have the source code for. It contains the code-behind for a asp.net page containing various form controls including a third party text editor that I no longer want to use. I want to replace the text editor with a simple asp:Textbox but the existing textbox is baked into the old assembly. How can I override / extend the existing page to use a textbox instead of the old text editor control?
I would like to take my usercontrols that are loaded dynamically and stick them into a list that references the actual object that has been loaded. So I can go into the list and pull results from the usercontrol. I would like to use mycontrol.GetResult() and it will then reference the control and grab the results from the form that has been filled out, which the results will be returned as a string. I do not want it to initialize a new control of the same type because I will not be able to receive my results then.
I have an intranet web project that is currently using the IEWC tabstrip and multipage controls.
Since these are very out of date, and cause lots of issues when trying to support multiple browsers, I am trying to find a good way to replace these controls, preferably without and drastic changes to the site's design or usability. One method I am considering is using jquery UI tabs, which looks like it might work in a similar fashion.
One of the issues I am running into is that the site was originally designed with the expectation that the controls on every tab would be included in the page for every request. This could be changed, but as this is a side project, I'm hoping to find a way to work around this.
I want to embed a silverlight app into a web page and have the height/width of the div that contains the silverlight control match the dimensions of the actual size of the silverlight control.
I essentially want the div to stretch to accommodate the size of the silverlight control. I do not know what size the silverlight control will be before it loads as it is pulling in data and adding controls dynamically. I want to avoid dueling scroll bars and use only the browser scroll bars.
I need this to work in both IE and Firefox.Is there a way to accomplish this?
I need to send the actual control id that .NET generates for an UpdatePanel's div to a javascript function. How do I rewrite the ScriptAction line below to accomplish this?
How would I pass an Object or Array to a function using the ICallBackEventHandler (RaisCallbackEvent)? It allows for a string argument only, if you change it to another datatype it error out. Sample Below...
I have this working except for one thing. After the user has voted I want to replace the submit with "Thank you" text.
In the aspx page I have a label that is not visible, with the text = "NotVoted". This label is not in the listview. In the listview I have a label that is not visible and a button that is. The rating control is called vidRating. In the vidRating_Changed event I have
lblVoteStatus.Text = "Voted" ListView1.DataBind() In the ListView1_ItemDataBound event I have Dim lblVoted As Label = CType(e.Item.FindControl("lblVoted"), Label) Dim btnSubmit As Button = CType(e.Item.FindControl("btnSubmit"), Button) If lblVoteStatus.Text = "Voted" Then btnSubmit.Text = "Thank you" btnSubmit.Visible = False lblVoted.Visible = True End If
When I run this in debug mode, if the user has voted, ListView1.DataBind() is run, lblVoteStatus.text = "Voted", and the code in the IF statement is run. I get no errors, but the page doesn't change. I still see the button and I don't see the label text. If I comment out the if /end if statements, the page opens displaying the label text, not the submit button. So the controls are being found ok. What am I doing wrong? How can I disable or remove the submit button after the user votes?
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.SqlClient" %> <script runat="server" > Dim connStr As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("cc").ConnectionString.ToString dim db As New Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(connStr)
why this error
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
how to pass through a query string parameter of an assignment id and then checking and validating this as a number and displaying the information returned on screen. At present I have code which displays the information on screen but this is by entering in the assignment id and by triggering the button click event, I've shown the code for this below:
.aspx <div> <b>Current Assignment</b> <br /> <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtAssignmentID"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Button runat="server" Text="Get Assignment" /> <br /> <b>Date Started:</b> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblAssignmentStart"></asp:Label> <br /> <b>Status:</b> <asp:Label runat="server"></asp:Label> <br /> <b>Current Achievement Level:</b> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblAssignmentLevel"></asp:Label> <br /> <b>Date Last Calculated:</b> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblAssignmentCalcDate"></asp:Label> <br /> </div> .cs protected void cmdGetAssignment_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Check the assignmentID is an integer int AssignmentID = 0; try { AssignmentID = TypeConv.CInt(txtAssignmentID.Text); } catch { } if (AssignmenttID > 0) { //Create new TCAAssignment object by passing the ID TCA Assignment Current Assignment = abc.TCA Assignment (AssignmentID); lblAssignmentStart.Text = Current Assignment.dDateCreated.ToString(); lblAssignmentStatus.Text = CurrentAssignment.rTCAAssignmentStatus.dDescription; if (!CurrentAssignment.dTCAAchievementLevel.IsNull) { lblAssignmentLevel.Text = CurrentAssignment.rTCAAchievementLevel.dDescription; } lblAssignmentCalcDate.Text = CurrentAssignment.dAchievementDate.ToString(); } }
Code example passing through a query string parameter of an assignment id would be great.
I see that , when a page has something(some data) to transfer to another page , generally Querystring is used for it, but how can i pass huge strings? Suppose that i've a 200 character string to pass another page, what shall I use for it ? I need a pratical way to do it.
I have a query string with huge params (greater than 2 KB) and i have to pass it to another page in which there is an email component. I have to send the email with a link (URL) that has the query string so that user can click on the link and access the page.
on VWD 2005 this code works fine, but on 2008 it says I haven't created an instance of the object. I want to convert the object connString (a connection string) into a string.
'This acceses the virtual directory web.config file for connection strings 'We have to convert the object to a connection string Dim rootWebConfig As System.Configuration.Configuration rootWebConfig = System.Web.Configuration.WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration("/VirtualDirec") Dim connString As System.Configuration.ConnectionStringSettings connString = rootWebConfig.ConnectionStrings.ConnectionStrings("ConnectString1") Dim strConnString As String = connString.ToString().......

I'm having an aspx page with 2 frames, one is the header and the the other one is content frame which i'm trying to load it dynamically. Everything is fine. Let me explain my scenario
On the header frame i'm having 5 link buttons and when a link button is clicked i'm passing a hardcoded Page URL to the frames containing page and then trying to load that page in the content frame.
Below is my code, Everything as far as i know are in right place, but i cannot see the page in content frame..
Header.aspx.cs
[Code]....
Then checking frameURL querystring in default.aspx page load:
[Code]....
when the querystring is null, the SiteSummary.aspx page is getting loaded in content frame without any issue, but when there is a querystring value the page is not being loaded. Here is my Default.aspx page
