i am using the following code to open a word document from asp.net application

but i am unable to open it.the error is "the file could not be found" but if i replace
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache);
with
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public);
i am able to open and save the file
I'm using asp.net 2.0 (VS2005) on a windows 2008 server.
i'm using MS Office 2007
when open word docuemnt from server using the following code -

it works fine when i run it in debug mode, but gives the following error when running through IIS Problems during Load Problems came up in the following areas during loadMissing file:

I am using below code to generate word document using assp.net/c#.net, please tell me where i am missing it is generating word file and all contents are their.but problem is that when i open it it gives me error:"The Office Open XML file filename.doc cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents"
and after clicking ok i get my required file.remove this error.
in error details:The file is corrupt and cannot be opened after it again gets a error message:"word found unreadable content in myfile.do you want to recover the contents of this document? if you trust the source of ths document,click yes"

On clicking on Image button, document can be opened for which I am using a Handler. The code for opening the document is written in the handler.This code is as below:

I am maintaining a web application that allows word template documents do be opened inside the browser.
Recently the client upgraded to windows 7 and MS Word 2007 and my problems started... When a template document is opened inside the browser and saved, the original file is overwrited instead of a new word file being created.
Is there a way to force ms word inside the browser to behave the same as when it runs outside the browser?
any component or library (preferably open source) that would allow me to convert Word 2007 documents to Word 2003 with ASP.NET?

I have requirement where I need to allow users to upload a Word document with place holders for certain fields which can be found in the database. This will be their template. For example the place holders might be prepended with @@ or something. For example
Dear @@Title @@Lastname
They then can grab a record and hit export to Word document. This will then let them choose the template. They can select the template and then click continue. I will then get the template and replace the @@Title with the title field in the database for the selected record. I am not sure where to start or what components I need to do this.
From my initial investigation it seems that I can do this with the new open XML standard for Office 2007. So perhaps I should read in the template and save all the contents to a db table somewhere. Then when the use wants to export I get the contents again and then do a search and replace for the @@ placeholders and link them properly. Then save the document to the output stream again which will then bring up the save dialog on their browser.
I am using ASP.Net MVC and am in a hosted environment. I was also maybe contemplating dynamically creating a new View type and dynamically creating new views when the user uploads a template. Not sure that this approach will work though.

I would like to know the best way to allow the user to click a link or something so they can open the document from the browser. I have been experimenting with the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word object, but am getting an error when I try to active the application object. I don't know if using this object is the best approach or if I should be doing something else.

View 1 RepliesI'm doing a tutorial for error logging. It seems to be pretty basic. Everything works the way it should but I get an error I did not expect in my error log. The error says file not found for favicon.ico. From what I've read this is a file for the icon that would appear in the address bar, to the left of the url. I don't understand why I'm getting this error. I have no code that does this or references this file. It happens when I run the app in chrome and in firefox. Does the browser automatically look for this file to display to the left of the url? Is it automatically looking for this file as part of it's normal routine when loading a page?
View 3 RepliesI come from a VB environment. I'm looking at 2 different file extensions. If one doesn't exist look at the next. I was hoping to use the try/catch function. I can get it to find the first extension but not the second. Here is my the try/catch part of code:

The error dialog that pops up shows Connection Error in the title and a yellow exclamation point with File Not Found! I thought the FileNotFoundException would work(?).
