My project is to create a website that facilitates giving live lectures on intranet. Hence, the bandwidth is not an issue here.
Also, I have implemented some basic code of live streaming using windows media encoder SDK in a C# console application. I was able to view the streaming on another LAN PC in VLC player.
Now, how do I implement my code in the asp.net website? What I want is that in order to start the streaming (i.e., start the live lecture), the facutly just clicks on a button in a webpage. This will stream his movements to the students (via a server). Also, this will enable the facutly to view himself on the webpage.
Is this even possible? I mean it would be like : both the student and the faculty will access the same website. The interface to both of them will be different - one will start the stream and the other (student) will receive the stream.
Or will I have to create a different application to start the streaming? So it would be like the facutly will start that applicaiton to start the streaming and the students will access the stream throught the player embedded in the website.
Another question is : what player should I use to receive the stream (on the student side)? Windows Media Player (I heard that it has problems with firefox)? Or the ubiqutous flash plugin will succeed in capturing the media encoder stream?
I need to audio and video streaming option on my website, like registered user can upload the video through browser option and other users can view that video on website like youtube.

Is it possible to create it from scratch or do i need to go for some API's. My requirement is limited to my site users only, can say intranet based.
View 2 RepliesDoes anyone have any sample asp.net C# code to extract the audio from a youtube video link and save it as a mp3 file. Someone recommended using wget and ffmpeg which I installed and am trying to shell a command, but get an exception below. Sample code is listed below.
System.Diagnostics.Process proc = new System.Diagnostics.Process();
proc.EnableRaisingEvents = false;
proc.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin\wget.exe http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=... | ffmpeg -i - audio.mp3";
proc.Start();

View 2 RepliesI want to play video / audio files on asp .net page.
client has following requirements
1) It can play all the popular formats
2) It can use installed player (if windows media player or any other) or it can run inside browser (i.e. Flash player)
I have already explored different options i.e. silverlight, Windows media services & flash player Among these three silverlight is discarded as there very few browsers having that plug in.
How can I check the quality and bit-rate of audio & video files in C# asp.net?
View 1 RepliesI need the ability to stream live audio/video on my churches website. I have checked many sources online and cannot find anything that mathches my needs just right. I do not want a 3rd party software. I do not want to use the new silverlight 4 as i need to be able to deploy this now. I am on a shared hosting account so I do not have full access to the server. I know this limits the options greatly but I know there also has to be a way to do it.
Also the main need is to stream a single audio/video source but it would also be beneficial to have this a 2 way system for youth groups discussions. So the ability for the church to stream one video and the youth that are signed on can also stream there audio/video back so possibly a webcam chat type setup would be best.
Company I work for have a site developed 6-8 years ago by a team that was enthusiastic enough to use their own private PHP-based CMS. I have to put dynamic data from one intranet company database on this site in one week: 2-3 pages. I contacted company site administrator and she showed me administrative part - CMS allows only to insert html blocks & manage site map (site is deployed on machine that is inside company & fully accessible & upgradeable).
I'm not a PHP-guy & I don't want to dive into legacy hardly-who-ever-heard-about CMS engine I also don't want to contact developers team, 'cos I'm not sure they are still present and capable enough to extend this old days site and it'll take too much time anyway. I am about to deploy helper asp.net site on IIS with 2-3 pages required & refer helper site via iframe from present site. New pages will allow to download some dynamic content from present site also. Is it ok and what are the pitfalls with iframe approach?
i would like to ask on how to insert an audio to my site.
so when a user click it, it plays the sound.
Developing site that have requirment to play/stop the wav files. What options I have to fulfill these requirment.
One option would be to useHTML <object> tag but i think i can't access this in the C# as we can do for the other server side controls and in this case i need to handle everything in Java Script.
I also think embedding media player is not a good option in this way clients need to install the media player or plugin in case of firefox.
So do I have any option in which i can handle the player through C# class and play with it.
This player should be able to play the wav files and should be supported by the firefox and internet explorer.
I am working on an ASP.NET Web application and I want it to have audio playback functionality. I can do is using directories. For example, using the ASP.NET Audio control like :- , is pretty easy and straight-forward and works accordingly. But, the trouble comes when I'm using a database and the control. I am totally new to data binding in ASP.NET. I don't like using JavaScript, but i am comfortable using it, but I would prefer C# solution (I know beggars can't be choosers).
I have a database containing only one table called tblAudio. This table has two fields only for the title of the audio file (type NVARCHAR(MAX)) and the field for the actual audio (type VAR BINARY(MAX)). I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Professional with SQL Server Express Edition. The table has a single record with the relevant data in their fields.
I have a WebForm which has an ImageButton. When clicked, it will open a new window (using javascript). This new window,will load an html page (video.html).
[Code]....
In the website root theres a folder called Content, inside it theres anothe folder called Video and inside Video there are alll the objects
that the video needs. When I try this in debug mode, it works. However, when I publish my website, and click the ImageButton the new window opens, and the FLV player shows, but the video never loads.
my requirement is : am having a excel sheet with some values listed i want to pass each value present in any(specified) column to a text box present on a remote page (a site other than mine) as a input and capture the result displayed on the page and then store the input and reuslt side by side in db this should repeat till the end of the input values in the excel sheet.
