Web Forms :: Put Custom Markup On Images?

View 1 RepliesIs it possible to use a custom format string in the markup? In the codebehind page the string looks like this:
MyBoundField.DataFormatString = "{0:n" + MyEnvironment.CurrentCulture.NumberFormat.CurrencyDecimalDigits + "}";
i.e i want to do something like the below example (but that does not work)
<
asp:BoundField
DataField="Amount"
DataFormatString="{0:n'<%# SummarumEnvironment.CurrentCulture.NumberFormat.CurrencyDecimalDigits.ToString())
%>'"
/>
I'm developing a custom server control and want it to end with /> rather than with </cc1:CustCtrl>. I've tried changing the ToolboxData but it didn't really do it (I can see it initially appears like that but instantly changes to the standard <cc1:CustCtrl blah blah></cc1:CustCtrl>. When i drag a button from the toolbox to the forms markup it uses the <asp:Button blah blah /> markup, how can I emulate this?
View 3 RepliesI'm new to custom server controls and I'm hoping to use them to build various 'modules' for different sites I build to cut down on duplicate code.I'm familiar with custom user controls in which I can create an .ascx & .ascx.vb file which can then be imported into an .aspx page and used freely.However, with custom server controls I cannot find a way of using markup/html code. Is this possible at all or must all code be created programmatically?
View 1 RepliesI have an ASCX that inherits from a WebControl that has a 'CustomConfiguration' property of type CollectionConfigurationItem. This configuration gets set elsewhere in the code, so by the time it gets to the ASCX it is set up to how I wish to use the data. At this point I'd like to render out another control using this configuration, like so:
<modules:DataModule runat="server" CustomConfiguration="<%# Model.CategoryListConfiguration %>" />
However, breaking into DataModule always results in 'CustomConfiguration' being null, which is the default value for the property. I've tried adding a Bindable attribute to the property but to no avail, and when I set an EventHandler for the DataBinding event on the DataModule it doesn't even get called.
How can I set this custom-class-typed property from the markup or, failing that what's the second-best method of getting this to work?
I'm writing a custom ASP.NET webcontrol and would like it to have a collection of custom items which can also be specified in the XML markup. Something like this:
class MyControl: WebControl
{
public IList<MyItemType> MyItems { get; private set; }
}
And in the markup:
<asd:MyControl runat="server" id="mc1">
<MyItems>
<MyDerivedCustomItem asd="dsa"/>
<MyOtherDerivedCustomItem asd="dsa"/>
</MyItems>
</asd:MyControl>
How do I do this? I though this was all about implementing some interface on the collection or adding some special attributes to the property, but nothing I do seems to work.
I am working on a custom menu control, partially as a learning exercise, and I am having trouble with Visual Studio's IntelliSense support for it in markup view.The conventional ASP.NET menu allows you to place an arbitrary depth of <asp:MenuItem/> elements under the <Items>...</Items> element. I'm after the same behaviour for my menu.Mine unfortunately does not. VS insists on an empty tag:
<hn:AwesomeMenu runat="server" ID="menu">
<Items />
</hn:AwesomeMenu>

I am wondering how I am supposed to get/set/replace the ImageUrl using asp
[Code]....
Where it says GetImage, I want to get the string of the url path which is stored in a List of custom objects that gets binded to the gridview...
i am making a custom server control. I have embedded images and javascript in class library.But images are not displaying when i use that control in aspx page.my code is
[assembly: WebResource("ClassLibrary1.mail2mohanpyare.skins.kama.icons.png", "img/png")]
and how can i convert ckeditor in class library.
I've got a Treeview inside an Updatepanel, currently I'm developing directly on a dev server with a remote connection to it. I've set the CollapseImageUrl and ExpandImageUrl properties and when I view it on the dev servers' browser it renders fine.
It produces:
[code]....
I have a new control in which I have successfuly embedded some javascript to the assembly as a WebResource as well as a CSS file which has background images. I cannot get the image files referenced by the CSS to render.Is this possible?I have entered some of the images as Web resources and embedded them but they still are not rendering
View 1 RepliesModerators Note: THIS ISSUE IS BIG FOR ME AND EVEN IF POSSIBLE, GET THE REPLY FROM THE DESIGNER OF GRIDVIEW. I have been looking for him for long. I am really fed up with reviewing a good lot of web pages on how we can possibly customize the gridview to enable sorting and paging. So many sites have listed out a lot of information and so many guidances. But the problem is that one works out fine and the other is a burden. I really feel bad about being given the job of customizing this kind of a gridview which has no user friendly approach to it. Also, this control is rendered without the pager links inside the <tfoot> tag. I have tried the Pear Pager in php. It is that good and easy to use and compared to that, the gridview in asp.net is the worst ever control i have ever tried so far.
1. i can use the images to indicate the sorting direction
2. I can have the custom pager like
[code]
<<Previous 1 2 3 .. 7 Next >>.
[/code]
When i click the next when i am viewing the page at 3 , the pager links should change as
[code]
<<Previous 2 3 4 .. 7 Next >>
[/code]
Kindly look into this type of requirement and firstly tell me whether this is possible with the gridview control. I would like this request even to be escalated to the designers of the gridview control also, so that Microsoft comes out with a reply THAT WORKS and not the kind of stuff like surfing through a lot of links and pages and finally wasting a lot of days precious time and still breaking the head with this useless control. I have spent a lot of time in searching for a perfect way. Not writing a code that is non-standard. I am really serious b'cos I have spent weeks in customizing this control. If I dont get a solid reply atleast now, I am going to generate all the output by HTML content by custom coding.
I am working on custom server control. I need to embed js,css and image files in control. I have added js and css file but I am facing a problem to embed images which is in css file. I have set background image in one class in css file but that image does not display when I run the page. So Is it possible to add webresourceurl for images which are placed in css file?

i am using asp.net with c#, i have table images

I want to disable certain elements in the markup in the aspx file, e.g. I don't want to have the markup pagination if there are no items to display, etc.
I'm aware that you can disable html elements using javascript, but I'd rather not do it this way since I can't guarantee that everybody who looks at my site will have a browser with javascript enabled.
The way I'd been doing it is to create a literal control, and in the codebehind file on page load, I'd set the text to either the empty string or the actual html markup that I wanted.
However, this has problems in that I need to recompile and rerun the website everytime I want to change the markup, rather than just make my changes in the aspx file and refresh the page.
I know that some controls, such as repeaters, etc, have templates which can be set by loading in the code from another aspx/ascx file, but I don't know if this is possible with literal controls.
I'm quite new to web development, but I figure this is something that must come up quite a lot so I didn't know if there was a standard way which is agreed to be the best way to do this kind of thing.
I would like to build hyperlinks into my website who implement the routing techniques from ASP.NET 4.0. but ik can't seem to find a way to use the RouteUrl with changing values
[Code]....
In the code above (part of a GridView) i would like to bind to the routename "CustomerRoute" en provide the parameter "CustomerID" which gets its value from the field "CustomerID". But his doesn't seem to work.
I'm using ASP.NET 4 Web forms routing, for example like this:
routes.MapPageRoute("page-browse", "{Language}/{Label}", "~/Default.aspx")
So the webadress could look like: http://localhost/mywebsite/eng/home
In the root of my website I have a folder "Images".
Image display works when I'm in the root of my website, e.g. by using http://localhost/mywebsite/default.aspx
But when using routing it doesn't work, because the image relative url will look at http://localhost/mywebsite/eng/images instead of http://localhost/mywebsite/images
Is there a way to prevent this using ASP.NET 4 Routing mechanism? Or is the only way to use absolute url's to images?
I have a Master Page as well as a standard Web Form aspx file. What if I wanted to dynamically modify the complete HTML markup in an aspx file (perhaps based on a conditional statement - perhaps in a specific content place holder), how would I go about doing this? Sorry I'm coming from a PHP background so this is why I'm asking such a simple question.
View 1 RepliesI have added a favicon to my site but it will not appear. I have the following two lines in the master page markup:
[Code]....
When the first page that uses the master page is rendered in the browser, these links are:
[Code]....
This is as I would expect yet the favicon does not appear. It appears fine on any basic html pages but simply won't on any pages that are based on the master page.
I'm trying to add some basic HTML markup to my code-behind, just a H1 and a few breaks separating strings in the message.Body, but can't seem to get it going without errors.
[Code]....
Probably a straightforward thing, or not intended usage at all,
I'm using an ImageButton inside a repeater with an ItemCommand. The repeater is used as a trigger to an UpdatePanel. The XHTML generated puts an 'ItemCommand' attribute in the <input> element corresponding to the ImageButton. This causes XHTML validation (using the W3C validator) to fail, because ItemCommand isn't a valid attribute for input.
I've Googled and found nothing about this, and the MSDN page assures me that asp.net generates perfect XHTML.
How can I concatenate two string in Markup Portion. See the following:
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server"
ImageUrl='<%#Bind("PictureURL") %>' Width="80px" />
</ItemTemplate>
I want to add an pre URL before the binding. How can I accomplish this?
Is it possible to use a session variable in the markup aspx page ?
Cause I have a gridview that use an sqldatasource and in the UpdateCommand I want to include a the session variable : session("username").
Ex :
UpdateCommand="UPDATE departments SET DEP_name = @DEP_name, DEP_active = @DEP_active, DEP_date_stamp = CONVERT (CHAR(8), GETDATE(), 112) + ' ' + CONVERT (VARCHAR(8), GETDATE(), 108),
DEP_user_stamp = <% session("username") %> WHERE (DEP_mnc = @original_DEP_mnc)">
This give me an error :
Server tags cannot contain <% .... %> constructs.
