remove link in the head tag of html page
[Code]....
I have several hundred html files that I want to remove the <head></head> tag from and all information contained in the tag. I am fairly sure I can do this in Visual Studio using the Find and Replace In Files with REGEX.
View 5 RepliesI'm building an asp.net app using themes, and I've assigned a theme to the app using the web config.
I have a bookmark icon that I want to use for my page and it is located in the themes directory, but I am having trouble referencing the themes location from a link tag in my header.
First I tried putting a code block inside the link tags href element, which did not work. Instead all it did was html encode the <% characters and output it directly to the browser:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/App_Themes/<%=Page.Theme %>/images/bookmark.ico" type="image/x-icon" runat="server"/>
I am able to put a code block inside an element in an hr tag though, so I don't know why it won't work in a link tag:
<hr test="<%=Page.Theme %>"/>
Then I tried doing a Response.Write inside the head tag, but I got an error saying the Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks:
<% Response.Write("<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/App_Themes/" + Page.Theme + "/images/bookmark.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>"); %>
I also tried it just with a string literal, and got the same error:
<%= "<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/App_Themes/" + Page.StyleSheetTheme + "/images/bookmark.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>" %>
Is there any way to reference something from the themes directory inside the link tag?
I'm trying to do this in both an ASP.NET 2 and an ASP.NET 2 MVC app.
Im woking with aspx. And when I view source HTML I saw some code
[Code]....
I hate it. It's not clear and not validate. When I working with PHP or ASP, I can get a pure HTML page. But can't with ASP.NET.
I am struggling with something that I guess should be standard practice really. I have a number of user controls that use some JQuery plugins. I do not really want to link to the extra CSS and JS files from my main masterpage as this would cause extra load to the user the first time they hit the site, (admittedly it would only be the once), so I was just putting them links into the top of the user control. Then I looked at my source HTML, not nice! Even worse for controls that repeat multiple times on a page.
So I was thinking is there a way of injecting them into the Head of the page when they are needed from the User Control. For that matter is there a way of doing it to the footer for JS stuff?
I'm new to .net, and I've noticed that when viewing my HTML source code generated by a .net application the carriage returns are removed from the head tag when it has runat="server" attribute on it.
I remove the runat="server" and the returns... return.
This really looks nasty when you have a few javascript and css files in your header because it ends up making the entire contents of the head tag 1 big line.
Just wondering if there's a way to control this or tell .net through configuration not to mangle the output?
I have created a new ASP.Net MVC 2.0 project.When I open the Site.Master and look at the navigation you have the following:
[Code]....
When clicking the link, it gives me a 404 file not found and my URL is the following:
http://localhost:2053/Services.aspxHow can I create 4 simple html link that has the href property pointing to my 4 files inside my
(I have tested this with a vanilla asp.net site running from the webdev server and it is a problem here also):
I have the following markup in my .master file
[code]....
Clearly Asp.Net does something to encode the url. As it happens, I really need the head tag to be runat="server" and I would also like to be able to have "&" in link-urls within it is there some trick I can use to have my cake and eat it too?
I have been trying to create dynamic path for my css files to allow statrup application regardless of application path. I have srtange behavious with <%=
[Code]....
I believe above should generate app path, but it looks <%= is ignored and the code on my webside looks like this
[Code]....
When I move <%=Request.ApplicationPath%> outside href attribute or move whole link tag to body it works fine
Ive been moving my site using forms over to MVC and have 2 html.action links in the default.master to MVC pages in the in the home folder that work just fine but when i add another mvc page in the home folder named links.aspx the application cant find the page from the html actionlink
[Code]....
there are no differences i can see in the pages that do show up and the one that cant be found (links.aspx).
there is no difference in the way ive written the link in the master.
I need about 6 or 7 of these links on the master to pages in the home folder.
If I take the script manager and the head out of the child I get the corresponding error messages (e.g. head tag required, script manager required).
View 2 RepliesPHP experience (which meaby is causing this problem) and Iam having small problem passing data from codebehind to view-source.
I declared string variable on codebehind side such as:
...
public string mystring = "Scotty";
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
...
So now I want to use it in view-code but when I put it in angle brackets (<%: or <%=) and put it in head element I got no access to this value. On the other hand when I put it in BODY element everything is ok.
My failing example (simplified):
<head runat="server">
<script language="javascript">
function beamMeUp()
{
alert(<%=mystring;%>);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<input type="button" onclick="javascript:beamMeUp" value="Warp6" />
</body>
why I can't use it (the <%=mystring;%>) in HEAD but i can use it in BODY ?
on my MVC webforms there is a text in the top of the form as "System.Web.Mvc.Html.MvcForm".
how can i remove this?
Here is my requirement -
1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.
I have an issue in my .net code
I have to send an email from my application.
I am using a sting builder to append the body message.
Where I append the following code
String username=test@test.com
String url=Request.Url.ToString()
When I sent the mail It will show a hyperlink in the url and the username.
What I want is to remove the hyperline from the email body.
How to fix this issue?
I have a Microsoft MVC project with an action "Foo" whose view ("Foo.aspx") contains the lines:
<%= Html.ActionLink("mylinktext1", "bar") %>
<%= Html.ActionLink<MyController>(x => x.Bar(), "mylinktext2") %>
When I hit this from a web browser or load it from an AJAX call, it properly returns:
<a href="/bar">mylinktext1</a>
<a href="/Bar">mylinktext2</a>
But when I call the action from another view like this:
<% Html.RenderAction<MyController>(x => x.Foo()); %>
Then the links are rendered without targets.
<a href="">mylinktext1</a>
<a href="">mylinktext2</a>
Why would this be happening, and how do I work around it?
how can i add a javascript file to the page head from a user control?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use the Response.Write() method to dynamically insert content in the < head > section of an aspx page. I need to inject a string value from a property on a code-behind object which is a link to my CSS file. However, it is not being processed properly at run time. The object is public on the class and is hydrated in the Page_Load() event. Down in the body of the page I can successfully inject other properties from the Corpoartion object with no problem at all.Why does this not work in the < head > section?This is the part that does not expand correctly:
<link href="<%= Corporation.PageStyleSheet %>" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Here is the entire < head > section:
<head runat="server">
<title></title>
<link href="<%= Corporation.PageStyleSheet %>" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

View 9 Repliesif I have a bunch of HTML code in my variable
is there some function that could remove all the HTML and output only the "clean" text?
For example
[Code]....
I want to remove a particular htmlnode from a html formatted string.I have a string
[Code]....
In the above line of code I want to remove the whole object node from that string. Remember object node can have as many attributes and childnodes.
master page has runat=server on the head tag element, it is injecting a stylesheet on the page for some reason and I am not doing it explicitly.
Is it a themes setting that is adding the stylesheet? How can I disable it for this master page?
How can I remove the html content and add new string to the Response object. If I use the Respose.Write method the page contains the string, but while taking the view source option from browser it will display some html tag like Doctype, head, body etc. My requirement is only the string should be displayed in the source.
