Web Forms :: Upload The File To The Server?
Feb 10, 2011
The task is simple. I know where the client side has a file. I need to upload this file to the server. Because of safety issues it's became very difficult. I have tried to create upload file control with the already inserted into it the path to the file. It is impossible. Now i thinking how to use XMLHttpRequest to send the file. Fellow experts, who knows how to upload a file to the server using JavaScript or POST of ASP.NET to server side

is it possible to automatically populate a file upload control's file for automated testing and server stress. I have one upload control (that simply brings up the browse and selects the file) and a button that uploads the selected fileupload control's file. Is it possible to give the file upload control a file pather "C:myImage.jpg" and submit the file by pressing the upload butto:
document.getElementById("fileUpload").value = "C:myImage.jpg";
document.getElementById("btnUpload").click();

I want to upload files to the web servers from the client machines.
Can i upload a file on a network share folder using file upload control?
I would like to create a share folder on a file server sitting next to the web server. If i upload the file from the network share folder instead of uploading it from the client machine does it make any difference?
Will the file be stored in a temporary location before copying to the final destination? Where will be the file stored in this case of uploading it from share folder?

I have a web form that allows the user to upload a file to the web server, that file is then read into a database. This process works on my local pc, my dev box and one of my qa servers. I moved the code to a new QA web server and it doesn't work on that server, even though the web site is setup the same on all 3 machines. On the new server it was working at one time and then today it stopped.What could be causing me to get {access denied to folder c:websitefilesuploads} (which is the file I'm uploading to and then deleting and works on my local dev and one of my qa boxes

I have a simple webpage which uses the FileUpload control. I am trying to select a file from the local pc and save it to the web server which is a remote server on the company network. I have a shared folder on the web server with the appropriate permissions. The folder authentication is using a predefined user name and password.
I have tried My.Computer.Network.UploadFile and System.Net.WebRequestMethods.File.UploadFile. For both methods I am getting the following error:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:empfilename.xls'

The below code is working fine in local machine..
To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".).aspx

I have an interesting challenge. My application uses a third party's services and one of the functions is to upload video files to Amazon S3. The current solution I've implemented uses a simple form with a POST action set to a URL on Amazon's system. The
issue I have is that because the form posts to Amazon, I have no way of doing any type validations before the user clicks to upload the file i.e. checking file type, file size, etc.
However, I really do NOT want to set up my logic so that the file is first uploaded to my server then to Amazon because these are huge files and we'll end up using costly bandwidth on both ends -- our server and Amazon S3.
P.S. To be perfectly honest, I'm not that pleased with the current solution where it's a simple HTML form with a simple post to Amazon. However, because Amazon is so picky about all the hidden fields in my asp.net page, I had to strip everything off the
page -- including form runat"server" because the minute I have this, I end up with a hidden field for ViewState -- even if I completely turn off ViewState. There's always something left as a hidden field and Amazon was generating an error because of this.
Ideally, I'd love to be able to do an HttpWebRequest in code behind so that I can have the functions of a web form back and do some pre-upload work but I'm not sure how to upload the file to a remote destination without putting the file on my server first.

i am trying to create an aspx page where i can directly upload a file from the client to the server without user intervention. I would like to do something like when the user specifies the file path in the url, that particular file must be uploaded to the server.
example: ht.tp://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/File_upload/File_Uploader.aspx?upload=C:/sample.csv&type=csv
The user can change the value after upload and what ever file he is specifying, it will be needed to be uploaded onto the server which is located at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
my sample code is:
[Code]....
this is just a trial to check if the csv file is being created on the server or not, and it is not being created.
i just want to copy the file on the client side to the server side and it has to be only by the aspx page in the format specified above.

I need to upload a file (xml, pdf, etc) from the user's PC, but I need to write it directly to a file server. I cannot use FileUpload because there is no way to direct its initial upload to anything but the web server. So, how do I use the HTML INPUT to upload the file from the user's PC directly to a file server located at a different URL than the web server the web page is being hosted on?
