I am trying to use my CSS file with master page but its not working.I have my css file in Theme folder.

I am working on masterPage/sub masterpages, all worked fine until this morning.When I open a .aspx which uses masterpages, in the design view it shows the error message..
I've checked both master pages several times, all tags are matched and visual stuido itself doesn't indicate any errors. Also in debug mode the html page is generated without any problems..
My computer system froze on me, the mouse froze, cntrl-alt-del, did nothing, so I reset it. Did a disk check, and now everything seems fine except for my master Page html code which I was in the middle of editing when it happened. The VB code-behind file is still ok, the designer file still shows ok with all of the controls in it, but I can't get into desgn or source view. It just opens and gives a whole page of hesixecimal code such as as:
00000030 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00000040 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
It just gives me a whole page full of numbers like this. I haven't backed up for a few weeks and so I hope I can get this back.
I'm building an ASP.Net project that will require the dynamic creation and printing of images. I've been asked to "hide" the header information (which is contained in a master page) when the page is printed. Is this some sort of a property that can be changed when the screen is printing?
The print event is actually running on the client side:
btnPrint.Attributes.Add("onclick",
"JavaScript: window.print(); return false;")
How can I set skin file to master page. Is is possible?
Actually I want to set common skin for all content pages of the master page.
Long Time didn't contact you . Now I am working with a new site I have a masterPage file in this master page (General.Master)I added a label to tell the user his status whether registered or not. all my pages belong to this master thus all pages have this label displayed in them with the same text. now in some page (Regesteration.aspx) it also belongs to the general master. but I want to change the text of the label in the master page to be some other text. How can I access the property Text of the control (LoginStatusLb) in the (General.Master) to change it only in this certain page
View 11 RepliesI have a master page (Defstrm.Master) with the following asp.net tag:
<Cloister:Footer id="footerPage" runat="server" addstatistics="true" />
I also have an Asp.net web form "displays.aspx" that uses the master page Def.Master. In the C# code behind file for displays.aspx how can I access the property value "addstatistics" that is defined in the master page?
I have two labels( actually more) on the master page which is accessed by the pages which use the master page template.
Label lblchome = (Label)Page.Master.FindControl("lblHome");
// Retrieved from Master
Label lblcdest = (Label)Page.Master.FindControl("lbldest");
This code occurs on every single page and it works fine, but my problem is I want to put them on a class file and make it available to the entire application. using System.Configuration;............
I am thinking that it would be better to use multipe CSS files and change them within the master page dynamically than it would be to use multiple master pages (basically one master page for each page, which defeats the purpose of the master page).
However, I do not know how to make a change to the master page before a standard apsx page that is derived from it is loaded.
i have to write this piece of code in almost 10 to 15 content pages. i am just wondering if i can class file as base class for my content pages and write this piece of code in that class.
[Code]....
can somebody guide me how to write the base class for this scenario?
I have functions in a Master Page that I want to access in content pages. How do I do that?
View 9 RepliesI am building master page in the wwwroot directory and also i have AboutUs folder in wwwroot directory.
I have default.aspx file in AboutUs folder, and it is using master page , but when i run default.aspx file then it does not load header image, which is part of master page.
can someone tell me why header image does not get load? and everything else from master pages gets load?
I am sure this is something to do with file path?
My Project is a normal web site, not a Web Project, and I am using VS 2005.
I am trying to define common Master Page Type in app_code which has an area to display error messages and the like. Very simple.
I added the following in app_code:
[Code]....
Also, I added the following in Master Page Source Declaration:
[Code]....
Also, I added the controls tblrowErrMsg and lblErrMsg as server controls to the Master Page.
Why I am doing this ?
This will allow me to display error messages from nearly any where inside the code in code-behined, app_code, and other core Class Projects (DLL).
I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?
View 4 RepliesI am new to the domain. I want to include a CSS file in my master pages,but it is not working I give the link to the CSS externally as<link href="Stylesheet1.css" rel="Stylesheet1" type="text/css" />Is there any necessity to include CSS classes in master page if so how and where I have to include?
View 3 RepliesI have a span tag on my master page which i want to hide after the user logs in. i want to do this after a button click event.
View 2 RepliesQuestion about paths while working in Visual Studio. In my master page I have some paths to load css files as well as javascript files.
My first question is if I use relative paths, should the relative path be from the location of the master page file? For example if I keep all my master page files in a folder off the site root called MasterPages should I assume that is the starting point for my relative paths to load the css files? If that master page is used to wrap an aspx file several directories down the tree is the hard coded relative path still valid?
Second question, is there a way to use absolute paths so that everything works on my local machine as well as when I move the files up to the webroot? For example my app path on my local machine may be localhost/myappdir/default.aspx but when i move the app to the server there is no myappdir and the default.aspx is in the webroot. I do not want to have to change paths in the files after they are moved up to the server. currently I have;
src="<%= VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/lib/css/style.css")%>"
but this way Visual Studio cannot find the css file to update intellisence
a is my master page, b is the aspx page inherited from a.
a: i have included this js file for jquery work
<
script
src="inc/scripts/JQuery/JQ
UI 1.8.9/jquery-ui.min.js"
type="text/javascript"></script>
[Code]....
Is there any reason why registering a javascript file from the head tags of an ASP.NET master page wouldn't work? For example, I have the following (plus many other) file referece:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/js/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
but jquery (and every other JS reference) doesn't work when the page loads.
I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .
So for example.
Main master page = main.master
My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master)
content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)
So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.
So far I have got
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string nMaster = //This is the line of code that I am looking for.
switch(master)
{
case "nested.master":
//all my logic here.
break;
}
}
I've recently noticed this in my VS. What exactly is an Ajax Master Page and how is it different than a regular master page?
View 2 RepliesI have a website written in C# that was running fine on one server. We moved it to another server and have a couple issues. I am mainly a VB.NET coder but can do a few things in C#. This is not a project - it is a website and can open it in VS2008 no problem. This is an admin site for the whole website where the user can add customer comments, etc. When logging in, it works fine. I can go to one of the admin pages after logging in and works. If I go to two other different pages, I get this error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
[Code]....
It turns out this is in the main.master page and it is used by the other pages that load fine. The ApplicationTitle variable is set right in the web.config file and like I said, it shows on the other pages.
My question is why would this code work fine for some pages and not two others? All of these admin pages are under a folder called Admin and the web.config file is in the root folder of the website. Its almost like these two pages cannot see the web.config file in the root folder? Why would that be if thats the case?
Btw, when I have this loaded in VS2008 and try to do a Build, it says:
It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
I would assume the folders on the server are set right since all but two .aspx pages run fine. Just something I thought I would mention. This does not really seem to be a coding issue but something not set right especially since it ran on the other server just fine.
I have a page inside my folder ( say Admin Folder , Page1.aspx ) and I want to use the Master Page which is placed Outside the folder.
with Intellisense I am getting like this ~/Mymaster.master", but at run time it is throwing an error.
I have a master page containing a tree and 3 dropdown lists. I am populating a context menu on right click of each node, and when clicked on any item of the context menu, it navigates to required pages.
My problem is after navigating to the required page, the selected values from the drop down lists and the selected node from the tree are getting cleared.
I can set the selected values for the dropdown lists by making some properties in master page.
But how do i maintain the selected node?
In my content page, i have got the valuepath of the right clicked node.
Or is there any other way than setting the properties in master page?
I got a Master page and nested master pages in the subfolders.
Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
