Jun 10, 2010I am building a non-nested master page that will contain a footer (at the bottom of the page) and a header at the top of the page. I have overlayed a table with three rows at the top to accompdate the header, the horizontal menu and a colorful gif that is a sopacer. I have a two column row in the middle with content place holders in each of the two columns. I have another three 1 column rows below this to hold the gif image (chrome) and the footer.
ISSUE
1. How can I insure that the footer remains at the bottom of the page, regardless of screen size and resolution?
2. How can I insure that the gif "chrome" bars span the complete width of the page?
Oh, I am also using a CSS with classes and elements defined.

Dec 16, 2010I have a webform which has a textbox called "Branch ID" and onblur of that textbox it shows "Spinner wheel" animation after the field and checks the Branch ID in table for existence using Ajax call and Ajax call returns the text if its available or not and after finishing ajax call it hides the animation. Since I've put update panel before the textbox my jquery code which hide/unhide the spinner animation is not working. here is the code

Jan 28, 2010I have one master page that is used to gather information from a user. It contains asp.net labels and textboxes within a table. For example, the master page contains fields for Name , Phone, Address, etc.
There are content pages that are created to add to the information that needs to be gathered. For example, the content page, Loan Application, could ask for Loan Amount, LTV, etc.
In addition to this, certain content page forms do not need to show a particular master page field. For example, the content page may not need to ask for Phone.
The table rows are stored as public properties in the master page so I can hide them in the content page code behind.

So, in the content page code behind, I have this:

The functionality works perfect, but I don't like how the space is reserved on the page. You can tell that a row was removed. I've tried style="border-collapse:collapse" on both the <table> and <tr> elements. I've also tried to set the row height as a public property and alter that.

Feb 3, 2011My computer system froze on me, the mouse froze, cntrl-alt-del, did nothing, so I reset it. Did a disk check, and now everything seems fine except for my master Page html code which I was in the middle of editing when it happened. The VB code-behind file is still ok, the designer file still shows ok with all of the controls in it, but I can't get into desgn or source view. It just opens and gives a whole page of hesixecimal code such as as:

It just gives me a whole page full of numbers like this. I haven't backed up for a few weeks and so I hope I can get this back.

Relative Path From Master Page File?
Feb 12, 2010Question about paths while working in Visual Studio. In my master page I have some paths to load css files as well as javascript files.
My first question is if I use relative paths, should the relative path be from the location of the master page file? For example if I keep all my master page files in a folder off the site root called MasterPages should I assume that is the starting point for my relative paths to load the css files? If that master page is used to wrap an aspx file several directories down the tree is the hard coded relative path still valid?
Second question, is there a way to use absolute paths so that everything works on my local machine as well as when I move the files up to the webroot? For example my app path on my local machine may be localhost/myappdir/default.aspx but when i move the app to the server there is no myappdir and the default.aspx is in the webroot. I do not want to have to change paths in the files after they are moved up to the server. currently I have;
src="<%= VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/lib/css/style.css")%>"
but this way Visual Studio cannot find the css file to update intellisence
