Web Forms :: Use A Single Master Page For Numerous Web Applications?

I maintain a local government website and we have 3 developers and each one develops various web applications. Each web application has it's own directory structure under a folder called "Apps". There may also be another level of folders under the Apps folder. My trial approach at the moment is to have a folder called "Apps/Common/Master" which contain the MyMaster.master page. I have another folder called "Apps/Test/MasterTest" which I have setup a project to use the Master file in the Apps/Common/Master folder. I looked at some information about sharing Master Pages in the MSDN documentation and it mentioned creating a virtual directory and I tried creating a virtual directory "Apps/Test/Master" which points to "Apps/Common/Master" but from Visual Studio it doesn't show up and so when I try to reference the Master Page it can't find it.
My goal is to have a single Master page that we all use that we maintain in a single place and any changes to the single Master Page will be reflected in all of the applications that reference that master page. I don't want to copy the Master page to each project because then modifying the original master page won't update the copies.
I have a single web page with master detail form/input layout. Currently the form works in a way like
User opens the page containing both master/detail data entry controls and enters the master information (The details save button is disabled)When he saves the master information, the save master button gets disabled and save details is enabled User continues to enter multiple details which get populated in a gridview at the bottom of page All works well Problem is that, the master part contains a lot of data entry controls (drop down lists gridviews etc)
How do I facilitate the user much more then the current layout? Should he be redirected to a new page after he enters the master record ? How can I improve on this?
my Master page placed textbox & link button. Linkbutton event raise only if clicked twice, is there anyway solution for raise the event in single click
We're using ASP.NET and IIS 6.0. I realise that the definitions of applications, websites and virtual directories are ill-defined in IIS 6, and changed a lot in IIS 7. However, I'm stuck with IIS 6.0 for now.
We have a single web site defined in IIS, and a number of separate sub-sites in Virtual Directories.
The scheme looks like this:-

site1, site2, ... are virtual directories in IIS 6.0, under the "Default Web Site".
I need to use ASP.NET sessions and forms authentication in most of these sites, and I don't want them to share authentication data or session information at all.
Both the mechanisms currently depend on cookies. However, the cookies created by default use the same name, and have a path of "/" in the browser, meaning the sites' cookies will clash with each other.
Without changing the default name for each cookie, how can I enforce separation between my sub-sites? Do I need to change the virtual directories for IIS 6 "Applications"? Or is there some way in code to enforce a more limited scope for the cookies?
However I'm not seeing center aligned text. What am I doing wrong? Also, will I need to make whatever changes to the JQuery .css files as well? Basically what I'm aiming for here is a single master page that I can use to hold all .css and javascript code so I don't have to reference it everywhere else.
I already have 2 web applications running. both of them are using membership and accessing the same database but their application names are different. so basically in my aspnet_Users table, i have users with different applicationIDs and in my aspnet_Applications table I have 2 records in there. so i have 2 separate login locations

What my the business wants is to only have a single point of entry. so they want something like this

and by verifying the username and password pair, my code should be able to route to the appropriate app and bypass its login form. (don't be concerned about the duplicate username between applications, it's been taken cared of)
so I'd like to solicit suggestions from you how should I implement this without modifying my existing setup? and where should I place this login web form in my website? this is the current site structure:

Applications are working fine and Page.User.Identity are available in all applications but once loginUrl and defaultUrl entry is changed to actual name other than localhost
Eg: localhost/EmpManager/default.aspx To myserver/EmpManger/default.aspx
the authentication ticket is not available in second and third applicaiton
We are having a project which is for various online application systems for an educational institute. (Asp.Net 2.0 Web Site)
initially we developed all applications in single project with proper folder structure. but now we want to make each application as separate product.
all applications share single authentication(Obviusly this is single project) want to keep that way only.
I want to split project in smaller projects but want to keep shared authentication so how should i orgnise this project in IDE.
Also i need guidence on hosting such project
i should make small projects within single solution file. and at the time of publish amke single virtual directory to host the root project(login.aspx etc) and in subdirectories i should host other projects. so this way SSO(single sign on) across applications is possible ..
We are developing a framework which will be shared accross applications. What is the best way to share master pages, user controls accross applications by preventing other developers to modify the master pages and the user controls ?
Is the following way suitable one ? Embedding masterpages and the user controls in a dll and using VirtualPathProvider to load the master pages and user controls dynamically.
But in this approach developers can not view the design. Is there any other way to convert master pages and user controls to a different format as developers can able to view design?
i have two applications hosted on two different domains and both use a single login info so my question is how can i use / share same session across two application.
I have a number of controls on a form i.e date pickers text boxes and dropdownlists. Firstly i need to set up some validation rules on the search button click event so if one control is populated then another needs to be and others shouldn't be etc etc
Then based on the values i need to return a dataset to the gridview showing all the records where the criteria meets all the values. I just wondered the best way to do this... i.e should i use validators to test for the rules(they may be too complex though). Should I just create a string and pass it as filter to the full dataset or use a stored proc and pass the string as the where criteria? This would mean a dyanmic proc so I'm not sure if there are any benefits as it won't cache on the server .

and i have a detail table called "PURCHASE_ORDER_DETIALS" with fields
sno,order_no,item,qty,rate.
i am supposed to create a master detail form
where i am supposed to accept an order from an vendor with multiple items.
i.e the form shoud accept one master record and multiple detail records and then either save all of them or discard all of them(both master and multiple detail records).
I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?
I am wanting to create a url rewriting module and have investigated numerous examples on the web. However, most do not address the issues of handling postbacks and querystrings. I cam across a few examples, but don't fully understand how they work and thus customizing them to my needs becomes a problem. I understand the basic concepts of rewriting, but can someone explain, or point me to a resource on how postbacks and querystrings are handled?
I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .
So for example.
Main master page = main.master My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master) content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)
So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.
So far I have got

I have a master page containing a tree and 3 dropdown lists. I am populating a context menu on right click of each node, and when clicked on any item of the context menu, it navigates to required pages.
My problem is after navigating to the required page, the selected values from the drop down lists and the selected node from the tree are getting cleared.
I can set the selected values for the dropdown lists by making some properties in master page. But how do i maintain the selected node?
In my content page, i have got the valuepath of the right clicked node.
Or is there any other way than setting the properties in master page?
I got a Master page and nested master pages in the subfolders.
Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
