we have some files in our web app which saved in database.
how user can download files from our web site which exists in database (and not physically saved) ?
Does anyone know how this is possible? I can retrieve the file, but I cannot figure out or find anywhere online how to prompt the user where he/she wants to download the file to.

View 1 RepliesI need a program that would download all csv files from an sftp location. I've the sftp host IP, user name, password and port details of the sftp location. I am able to login through Filezilla. But as I need to login programmatically, so that I can get a list of all files in the folder.
When the code works fine for a ftp request, it doesn't for an sftp request. Given below is my code to connect to the ftp uri.

My system admin says that there is no uri that could be given for sftp sites at all. Now, how can I go about this? Is there any third party tool available for this?

this is an Asp.NET MVC app, the path indicated in the path attribute points to an action method not a physical location.When this was running under IIS 7 integrated mode it was working fine. But when we switched to IIS 6 we get the login prompt even with the pages that are set to accept anonymous users.ow to make IIS 6 authorize anonymous access to non physical paths ?
I've set up IIS7 on my home computer and have written a very basic ASP.NET website to be deployed on this webserver. Everything works great. How do I determine programmatically the physical path (for instance, "C:inetpub_MyWebsite") of the website? View 3 RepliesI've found myself having a requirement to configure log4net based on a file relative to the physical location of the running ASP.NET web application. We like to start the logger as early as possible, so Application_Start seems a proper place. In IIS6, this works fine and has been running for ages, but now we moved to IIS7 and this won't work anymore:

because the HttpContext.Current is not available in many global.asax (Application, Session) events. This is old news, we all know it raises the now infamous Request is not available in this context error. We don't want to move back to Classic Mode.
Now, the question is simple: without using HttpContext, is it possible to find the physical location of the currently running web application instance?
I have a web application that allows users to upload files which are stored in a database. Users can then search for files and click a link to download them. Clicking the link opens a new window which retrieves the file from the database and offers the user the chance to open the file or save it.
All of the users within our organisation use IE 6, yet while some can click a link and download the file, others can't. The new window simply opens for a split second, then closes. If it was all users I would think it might be the application, but as it is only some I am tempted to think it is a browser issue.

I have coded a routine that creates a series of excel files in a folder called "SaveExcelFiles". This routine works fine. What I now want to do is to create a routine that will let my user download (copy) the entire folder to his PC. I do not want to have the user have to download each excel file separately if this can be avoided. Also I would like to have a routine that deletes all of the excel files in the folder.

Obviously this doesn't work since TransmitFile requires that the file be on your physical path, so how do i do this? Someone said you must use the stream method. Do you have any sample code I could try? I've tried the HTTPStreamReader object but it's giving me issues, so I would love to find out if there is anyway this might work. Now here's some more important information: this are HUGE video files.. we are creating a downloads page... written in asp.net -- so you create an account using the .net membership class, then you select the file you want, go through a form where you enter your billing info and then after you pay a certain fee (this is already implemented), you go to your "downlaods" area in your account... there you have access to the files......... the reason i'm doing this is because i want to hide the download link, which will be something likehttp://myOTHERserver.com/2340987sdfkjhalsdlkjh23 ... (something really crazy)....... we don't want people seeing this on the status bar (Therefore hiding the download link is ESSENTIAL)........ the files are a good 500MB each approximately; so i would love to hear all of your suggestions as to making the streamreader work for me and how long would it take for the streamreader to READ the file........
In my asp.net wep application i would like to move the folders from the server to a network location so that the server doesnt get filled up.
i was able to move the files within the same drive but not to other network locations .
am able to download single files which is coming as bytes from database..how to go with multiple files....

The FTP server produces new files from time to time. so my application needs to Download only the "NEW" files and disregard what i have already downloaded previously. I have a time stamp on when was the last download time. I Using FtpWebRequest, WebRequestMethods.Ftp.ListDirectory, WebRequestMethods.Ftp.GetDateTimestamp. The problem is the ListDirectory gives me all the List in the FTP directory and i have to loop all the way down starting again from the start to the last file and check it with my last time stamp to DL the NEW files another problem is the FTP Directory contains 30,000 Files so it would take long until ill find the my last download time to start again on that point..

View 1 RepliesI was just wondering what the best approach would be for uploading/downloading files. My users want to have the ability to upload and download emails to various Orders but i'm not sure of a few things.
Would I need a new table and reference it to my Orders table? Or would I need to create a new table and add columns such as file location, and upload the files to a particular server? Also since I am working on a Windows machine, i'm not really sure how to connect to my server to allow me to upload/download files (not sure if that makes sense).
