Web Forms :: User Regain A Web Part After (s)he Closed It?
Dec 29, 2010
I'm new to Web Part programming in ASP.NET...I have created a simple sample website, containing a page with a WebPartZone control (and other necessitites). After I ran that web page and logged in, I closed all the Web Part controls that the WebPartZone contained. Now they are all gone when I re-visit the page and log in.
How can I regain the Web Part controls of that WebPartZone without coding anything? Do I need to add some particular Web Part Zone control or something to the page? Adding a CatalogZone control was of no use. It only seems to list Web Parts that have been explicitly assigned to it at design time (or by coding).
I am working on an application that resides on a development server on our internal network. The application was originally written to use Membership and Roles. We got busy almost a year ago before the app was finished, and now we are trying to get it ready to use internally.
The login page works just fine, but I have lost the ability to controls users and roles. I am running Visual Studio 2010 Professional now on a Windows 7 VM. I can open the application fine but there is no Web Administration Tool available for me to manage users or roles. If I go to Website -> in Visual Studio, there is no option for ASP.NET Configuration in the drop down menu. It simply isn't there.
How can I regain access to manage users and roles for this application? We are using Forms authentication and the database resides on a SQL Server 2005 instance on a separate box from the web server and my local VM.
I am working on roles. Allocated some tasks to Annonumous User and LoggedIn User. What happen, once I login it shows me the correct task for LoggedIn user. But if I restart the application then by default it shows me LoggedIn users tasks. I am testing chrome and I.E.
I have a page with one button. When the button is clicked, a ModalPopupExtender is open, and data is populated from database and displayed in the popup box. The data retrieved is bound to dynamically generated CheckBoxLists, one CheckBoxList for each category (there maybe 3, maybe 5 CheckBoxLists, depending on the categories). I need take down whatever the user checked on those CheckBoxLists from the popup window. But I got no way to find those checked items. Any button in the popup window dose only one thing: closes the window. No matter what I code under this button, is not executed.
I have four columns in database. Consider it as a,b,c and d. I'm trying to place a and b column values in TO part and c and d column values in CC part in outlook. a,b,c,d contains six digits numeric values. I just need to place a and b columns values in to and c and d values in cc part on click of a button.
I have created a webservice in 2010. And when I call it from my web application sometimes,It generates the follwoing errors:-1. The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the server.2. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.I have already tried increasing excutonTimeOut etc.
I have written custom code for login and logout...When use clicks on logout button the current session is closed and user is redirected to a login.aspx page...The problem is that when a user click a back button on internet explorer it the previous page he was navigating is shown to him...(altough he cant perform any operation as session is null and their is condition in page load that if session is null user should be redirected to login page)May i have to clear cache of client ??
This error stopping my work in my crucial time. The error is "The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly.".There are multiple WCF service I created in my project. But when I am requesting only one service this error is coming. I compare with other service, no difference. The service works fine in the morning, but afternoon it stops working and raising error.
I installed Silverlight 3.0 Tools for 2008 Sp1, Silverlight 3.0 Developer, WCF RIA Beta and Silverlight 4.0 runtime in my system in the morning. After getting this error I uninstalled WCF RIA Beta. But same issue.Could not find any solution. Please assist me how to solve this issue.
I have created a user control as part of an asp.net web application. This control works fine. I have then moved the control into a class library and attempted to reference it in my original application. I find that the asp controls created in the ascx for the control (texboxes and buttons) are no longer instantiated i.e. I get a null reference exception in my Page_Load event handler when I try to reference them. The only change to the page in my original application has been to change the register statement to load the control libary dll otherwise this is identical to when the conmtrol was part of the application:
We have several asp.net web applications we've built and we also want to embed them into various sharepoint pages. We need to have them look like standalone applications when viewed in their own pages, but also have them look like they fit within the sharepoint page when embedded. We are doing this currently with IFrames and it works ok, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of proxy web part where we can configure the web part to point to an existing web app and it will proxy the contents through from the web app into the sharepoint page removing the need for an IFrame. Possible?
I m new in web part tools in asp.net, i create a simple page using web part tools, but now i want in my web part zone too open a web site like I Google..
when u use i google there is a functionality to open a web site in web part zone.
I have my wcf service and it runs fine. Then from my asp.net application I am trying to connect to this service. Everything is ok, request from asp.net is received in service (as I can debug code) and then when it returns to client I have the following error:underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedlyMy contract on WCF service is as follows:
And WCFResponseGetAllProducts , WCFRequestGetAllProducts classes have [DataContract] attributes. Members of those classes have [DataMember] attribute. However when I added another method to my contract:
[OperationContract()] int Test();
then I can execute it from asp.net mvc application without a problem. PS. I host my wcf service in default web server in visual studio 2010 at the moment
When using SPWeb.GetCatalog(SPListTemplateType.WebPartCatalog), it returns an SPList which of course contains a SPListItemCollection of the web parts in the web part gallery. When looping through the items, is there any easy way to get properties of the web parts? Such as AllowClose, CatalogIconImageUrl, etc... I know I can probably accomplish this using the listItem.OpenBinaryStream etc and loading the xml of the .webpart file, but I wondered if there was an easier way to do this.
Im working with this Arquitecture : Web Service -> DLL(Xml Translator) -> Asp.net.Everything works fine, but,i have a process that takes about 23 minutes, in that time i show a "loading screen" that avoid the user to do anything, but after 20 mins while the web service is working and after debug my code, i get this error :
"The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly"
Then, my "loading screen" keep visible until the web service completes the work, and after that, the "loading" hides and the web form shows my gridview empty.(its should show data).
I am using asp.net 2.0 with Windows 7 and IE8. I am also using the IIS on the same laptop as the server. I create a web page and when I run it, it browses fine. The problem is when I close the page either by clicking on the cancel button or the 'X' in the upper right hand corner, the page reloads. I have to close it again. This is very annoying! However, when I run the debugger the page closes once and no reload happens.Anyone know how to stop the page from reloading once I close it?
