i am using panels and each panel contain seperate set of controls with validation.the problem I want to put multiple panels in the same page put I want each panel to activate it's validation fields not the other panels.

When windows.close() is invoked, I clicked no to stay on the page. When i check the url of the links of the topbar, the hyperlinks were wrong. It shows[URL]Can someone help me out with this problem? This is something thats been bugging me for a while. I can't even remember if I fixed this before or not. What I'm trying to do is display a single error message for all validation controls on my page. I think this is possible if you write your own javascript function for a Custom Control, hiding the error message, and displaying it on a single control. Writting all the javascript for this and then refering to the control with "GetElementByID". But can I use controls like RequiredFieldValidator, and make them display messages on one single control without having to write javascript for each one of them? One single message on one single literal or label or whatever, at the bottom of the page, that says "fill in the compulsary fields" or something
similar. I find it very annoying having a list of validators underneath each other with different messages.

am using vs.net 2005 wit c# In my web application we used master page and child pages. In master page we have the search option ( a textbox with serach button). when user enters something into the text box and press enter then i should display the search result.So i placed that in a panel (in master page) and set the default button as Search button. My Problem is i have other hyperlinks and linkbuttons in the master page and in child pages. when am clicking any other hyperlink or linkbutton the search button is getting activated (not the respective one). How to solve this?

However, .NET gets in the way by blocking (what it sees as) an attempt to put HTML in a form field. I know I can turn off input validation entirely, but I only want to turn it off for this one field. Does anyone know an easy way to do that?
View 2 RepliesCan you validate just a single property with the Fluent Validation Library, and if so how? I thought this discussion thread from January of 2009 showed me how to do it via the following syntax:
validator.Validate(new Person(), x => x.Surname);
Unfortunately it doesn't appear this works in the current version of the library. One other thing that led me to believe that validating a single property might be possible is the following quote from Jeremy Skinners' blog post:
"Finally, I added the ability to be able to execute some of FluentValidation's Property Validators without needing to validate the entire object. This means it is now possible to stop the default "A value was required" message from being added to ModelState. "
However I do not know if that necessarily means it supports just validating a single property or the fact that you can tell the validation library to stop validating after the first validation error.
I have created a simple mvc portable area project with a simple view displaying hello world.
In the portable areas project i added the view as embedded resource ,compiled to dll and added the reference

On an ASP.NET page, I am using the same form for login and registration. There are two login fields and seven registration fields. Something like this:

In each case, all the fields are compulsory (ie username and password are compulsory for logging in, and the other seven fields are compulsory for a new registration). There is a single submit button. This layout of the form is imposed by the client and is not open to modification.Now, my question is, how to validate the form? Initially, I cooked up a customized server-side validation system, but the client insists on using the standard asp.net validation controls (including the custom validator if necessary).
To validate the form, first I have to determine if the client is doing login or validation, and only then can I decide whether to validate one set of fields or another. So the first operation is to see if the user has filled in username or newUsername and use that to determine whether a login or a new registration is taking place. Since there is a single submit button, I cannot use validation groups to distinguish between the two sets of controls.
I thought about using a custom validator for the whole thing, but it is connected to a single control, so that does not solve the problem. I also thought about creating a new validation control, but again the problem is the same - any class inheriting from WebControls.BaseValidator is connected to a single form control.

View 1 RepliesI have a stored procedure that returns 3 tables within the single recordset it returns. If I set a SqlDataSource to get data from this procedure, it works, but it only returns the first table. I want to have a GridView display the data from the 2nd or 3rd table using a SqlDataSource, but I can't figure out how to specify a particular table.
While there are some posts discussing this out there, I can't get a definitive answer about whether or not this is even possible (?). In a worst-case scenario, I can create another SP that only returns the 3rd table - but that creates a little maintenance headache that I would prefer to avoid.
I am trying something apart of my boundries, is there any way to disable a single intem in dropdownlist or stop the ddl change event for a single item.

For context: First of all, I am new to LINQ, as I have been using SubSonic for quite some time now.
I have two tables, Users, and Affiliates. They both have a very typical schema. The FK that joins them is the UserId field, which is in the Affiliates table. I want to create a LINQ query that pulls the Username from the Users table using the AffiliateId value. The AffiliateId is a primary key of the Affiliates table.
I have tried to accomplish this using many variations of the following code:

In the above query, I expect to get a single row result set. However, I instead receive the entire table of results.
How can I make this work? I have yet to see an example or article out there to do what I am trying to do.
